Hey Poptropicans! ๐ค Poptropica fan artist RainbowBrush (Tough Spinner) is back with a cool new project: a fan comic called The Mystery of the Forgotten Islands, and she’s just dropped a teaser with four full pages, along with the following synopsis. Read it below!
Poptropica is an online game that features an adventurer traveling the ocean, exploring many different islands, and helping the people on those islands with their problems. Poptropica once had a wide variety of different islands to explore ranging from traveling the Wild West, to becoming a secret agent, to solving mysteries on a train. Unfortunately in 2020, the game engine that ran Poptropica, Adobe Flash, shut down. The shutdown of Adobe Flash caused most of Poptropicaโs islands to disappear.
This story takes place in the disarrayed state that Poptropica is in now. There are only a handful of islands that remain in the world. Tough Spinner, a long time adventurer, attempts to solve Poptropicaโs biggest mystery. Whatever happened to the old islands of Poptropica?
The teaser is also available on Instagram and Reddit, with a promise for future updates to be posted on those platforms whenever they’re ready.

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible Ring. Enjoy!
If you could have one wish, what would it be?
A) More Invisible Ring guest posts? B) The second half of my pirate movie? C) Poptropica to be revived in all its former glory: Monkey Wrench, Realms, classic common rooms, etc.
I wish! Donโt we all…
Unfortunately, Iโm not a genie, so wish C is beyond my power to grant. I AM a poptropican with a magical craft table though! So, while I keep concocting the difficult spell of wish B, I shall now grant to you wish A.
From the scribe that brought you my comparison of the dream islandsFairytale Island and Goofball Island, comes the final dream island post, Jade Scarab vs. Arabian Nights– which are the first and last dream islands in Poptropica’s history!
Comparisons
Both of these islands are absolutely โจmagicalโจ, filled with magical secrets and deep-rooted legends from different parts of the world. They’re also both full of rich cultureand beauty while also being challenging and exciting like most popular Poptropica islands. They even share some of the same musical soundtracks!
There were only four episodic adventures ever made, and Arabian Nights is the last of its kind. Similarly, there were only four Dream Islands ever made, and Jade Scarab is also the last of its kind! Talk about a coincidence.
Contrasts
Jade Scarab was one of the three 2020 Dream Island winners that eventually launched in 2022, while Arabian Nights was the 2013 Dream Island winner that launched in 2014. While Jade Scarab is one complete island, Arabian Nights is an episodic adventure that is split between three parts.
Fun fact:Arabian Nights is the only dream Island with any common rooms in it! ๐ค Jade Scarab doesn’t have one, however.
The medals are all different too! All of the dream islands have a different medallion and a different story to tell.
The Fairytale medallion has a royal purple strap and an etching of the mysterious villain Rumpelstiltskin, which leads me to believe Rumpelstiltskin himself dropped the medallion when he turned into smoke and escaped the fairytale castle.
The Goofball medallion has an indigo strap and a picture of a piรฑata. With a dull color and a fun picture, this medallion embodies the balance of goofiness and dullness that is ultimately delivered on Goofball Island.
The Jade Scarab medallion has a jade green strap and an etching of the islandโs magical mascot, the Scarab. Need I say more?
The Arabian Nights medallion shows up at the end of each of the three island episodes. Three medallions? Thatโs as many as the rest of the dream islands put together! All three Arabian Nights medallions all look exactly alike too. They each have a blood-red strap and a sword. Surely these bold and deadly medals were either worn by thieves, made for thieves, or even made BY thieves! Heck, they couldโve even been stolen by thieves too!
But enough about fun facts and medallions. How do the actual quests compare and contrast?
Each quest revolves around an expedition to find a special treasure; an archeological expedition to find the Jade Scarab and an infiltration expedition to finding the Arabian Nights genie lamp. Each treasure has its decoy, but only the one on Arabian Nights has a dangerous curse if you don’t find the real treasure.
There’s a curse on Jade Scarab Island, too, but it only happens to the bad guys who try to stage fake curses and lock people in caves. It’s really just the supernatural Jade Scarab guardian protecting the treasure and punishing the thieves for their shenanigans.
Arabian Nights has a supernatural being too, Samhal the genie. But he was no guardian. He was a dangerous trickster, granting wishes with cruel twists everywhere he went.
But what made the Arabian Nights quest even MORE dangerous were the villains. While Jade Scarab had one or two thieves, Arabian Nights had 40 of them! Among the thieves was the most ruthless one of all, Scheherazade: leader of the thieves and the infamous genie of destruction. Yes, Arabian Nights was one among many of the scary and suspenseful islands that were coming out from 2013-2015.
Jade Scarab, however, stayed true to the traditions of the first dozen or so islands from the early days of Poptropica. It’s a lighthearted, humorous, and not too serious island that has a fun quest and a museum where you can learn lots of cool stuff in the process!
So why is one island so serious and the other is not? In my opinion, it all comes back to the two treasures, the lamp and the Jade Scarab.
As you play these quests, you learn that the Jade Scarab is good and must be protected in the museum. But no good came from the Arabian Nights lamp. That treasure wasn’t going to any museum. It had to be eliminated.
And that brings us to the biggest (and best) comparison. There are happy endings to both islands! Curses are broken, towns are restored, amends are made, and all peoples have a chance to get a new start and a chance to be prosperous again.
Aww, what nice stories for both islands! Which one do you like better? Better yet, which of the four dream islands is your favorite one of all?
Feel free to leave a comment below, and if you want more dream island comparison posts, then you are welcome to share with me your own dream island adventures from the dream island contestsof long ago. (If I receive readers’ entries, I will try to be as fair as I was in my comparisons of the official dream island winners.)
Thank you for reading, and I hope to pop to you all again real soon!

Hey there, Poptropicans! The Pop Creators gave us new items to buy, new videos to watch, and new teasers to ponder. Let’s take a look at what they shared today, starting with a preview of a loading screen advertising the upcoming Goofball Island side quest!
This screenshot confirms the quest’s title to be “Blitz on the Fritz” and gives us a better idea of the storyline. It seems that Blitz, a red robot bee, is wreaking havoc across Poptropica and causing various islands to either go goofy or become bland. Players might need to do some island-hopping to complete this quest, much like they did during Rumpel’s riddle hunt in Fairytale Island’s side quest.
Is Blitz acting alone or is it working with its bee buddies? Is Katie Dare the mastermind of this island-transforming spree? Members can tune in to stop this byte-sized pest and return Poptropica to normalcy! ๐ค๐
Before a bionic swarm hits Poptropica, let’s see what new items are in store this week. Do Mondays get you in a shopping mood? This drawing by Friendly Feather sums up our mood whenever Pop updates its in-game shops. No Amelias are available for purchase yet. ๐๏ธโ๏ธ
Adventure Outfitters continues Pop’s winter fashion trend with the Frosty Babe outfit, which boasts super cute red plaid flannel vest and earmuffs. Everyone can purchase this flannel-tastic outfit for 250 credits. โค๏ธ๐ค
The clubhouse store added five new winter decorations and two returning classics. All players can buy the Pinecone Garland (100 credits), Hanging Snowflake (75 credits), Scented Candle (75 credits), and Tea Set (200 credits). Members can also buy the all-new Honeycomb Shelf (150 credits) as well as the returning Pop Star Poster (75 credits) and Stained Glass Window (250 credits).
Two new videos have been uploaded to Poptropica’s Youtube channel. The first video is a nostalgic lookback at Nabooti Island‘s mancala minigame. What are your thoughts on this classic game of stones and strategy?
The second video is admittedly more interesting. This video confirms that PoptropiCon: Episode 2 will be returning soon! While this video is basically a reupload of the original PoptropiCon trailer from 2014, the news of another PoptropiCon episode returning to the game is exciting. ๐ฆธ
Last but not least, the Pop Creators recently featured a costume contest submission in their latest Instagram story. IG user clovermulo aka Curious Heart designed a stylish Thrifty Girl costume complete with preppy plaid threads, caramel highlights, and sparkly heart earrings. If you want to enter this month’s costume contest, submit your designs before January 17th at 8pm PST.
That’s all for now! Are you looking forward to the release of Goofball’s side quest? How about the return of PoptropiCon: Episode 2? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for our post covering Goofball Island: Blitz on the Fritz!
Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the December recap for Community Creations. December’s theme was Goofball, so be sure to check out all the featured artists!
Wow, wow, wow! Now these are some great, goofy outfits! I love the unique approach to this submission, since the IRL clothing stands out against drawings. And, of course, both sides of Goofball Island are wonderfully represented here. Very creative! Which outfit would you wear? Find his Instagram here and check out his PHB posts right here.
Balanced Ending by ice cream
This submission also captures both Dullsville and Goofside quite well. It’s great to see them balanced together here and the fractured composition makes the design really captivating. Gotta love that contrast between the color and the black and white! Which ending did you guys choose? Find the artist often on Discord.
Detective Duo by Midnightoilstudio
Another fractured sort of composition! I dig it! I think we can all admit that it’s a really visually appealing way to showcase two sides of one character. With this one, I especially love how the black and white detective is actually seen on a colored background, and vice versa with the popsona, Vi. It shows excellent contrast and balance! Find her DeviantArt here.
Friendly Feather as Blandstonย by Friendly Feather
This piece focuses more on the Dullsville side of things, which is ironically refreshing, huh? The black and white pencil is obviously quite appropriate, but I especially love that pop of red in the eyes. I love seeing all these OCs put into the environment of Goofball Island! Not dull art in the least! Find the artist often on Discord.
Mel O’Dee by Barefoot Knuckle
Speaking of OCs, this Goofball specific OC is super cool. According to the artist, Mel O’Dee (a Dullsville singer at the Crazy Club) was “inspired by old detective movies and a certain Disney film.” Talk about a great drag name too! Love the creativity in this character. Can anyone guess the original song that this pop version is referencing? Find the artist often in the comments section.

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you theย November recapย for Community Creations!ย November’s themeย wasย Sweet & Sour,ย so be sure to check out all the featured artists (not in any order)!
Some sugary soda-POP sure suits our sweet theme! I love the bright colors in this work and attention to detail, like the blimp in the background and the Dr. Hare energy drink. You think Speeding Spike would be into that sort of beverage? Sounds like quite the sugar-rush. Super cute character design too! Find their Instagram here.
Pop/Froot: Lemonย by Criaha
Any MARINA fans out there? Criaha pairs Poptropica villains with fruit inspired by the song/album Froot in this series. This is a super creative mashup and shows excellent craftsmanship. The lighting just blows me away! And the sour art thief known as Black Widow somehow feels like a perfect fit for a lemon. Find her Instagram here.
Sweet Tooth Dr. Gramstonย by LeggyBug!
If you haven’t played the new Goofball Island yet, I think that this is your sign to go do so. Though we usually see Dr. Blandston Detective Gram in a fully Black and White, bland get-up, this “candified” version of the character sure is sweet. And fitting for the design of, well, half the island of course! I love all the colors in this work, the sugar texture on the clothes, and just how much energy it has! Find the artist on Discord and in the comments.
Nervous Star & Blueberry Cakeย by Bunnies_N_Bowties
Man, things just keep getting sweeter! This cute little Poptropican next to the huge, delicious looking dessert is just adorable. The coloring is fantastic and the line art is wonderfully soft. And the mood of everything is so joyful. Excellent design! I just want to dig in! Find her Instagram here.
Candy Crazed by _smart_spinner
Speaking of sweet things, this Candy Crazed inspired art is certainly right on the nose of this month’s theme. The intensely bright and shiny colors of this work definitely capture the, well, crazy vibe of the mini-game. I especially love the sparkles around the wand that add to the magical setting. Well done! Find their Instagram here.
