When in quarantine, play Poptropica

Hey Poptropicans. By now, you’ve probably heard of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping over the world, causing school shutdowns, closing businesses, and more. With life on lockdown, why not turn to Poptropica to pass the time?

Like the postcard? You can download Virus Hunter Island printable postcards from Poptropica and send them to your friends!

Real talk, though: we haven’t heard from Poptropica in about a month, and with all of this going on, Poptropica Creators may have their workflow disrupted, too. That could mean a lull in activity for Poptropica, despite earlier promises about updates for this year. We’ll have to wait and see.

Anyway, whether the virus has been on your radar for months, or has just started to affect your area in the past couple weeks, at least one thing is clear: staying away from crowds helps keep you and everyone safe.

The outside world may be falling apart, but on the flip side, the online world is thriving. Here on the PHB, we’re bringing you recommendations for enjoying the best of Poptropica while under quarantine. There’s plenty to do inside!

Can you stomach the comics? 🦠

One obvious island comes to mind: Virus Hunter. In this island released in 2013, your mission is to locate the person harboring a dangerous new virus, then enter his body to remove the disease before it spreads! There couldn’t be a more relatable adventure in these trying times, and whether it’s your first time playing or you want to revisit it, the PHB has a guide for you.

Before the island came out all those years ago, Poptropica created a six-page comic called Pandemic Panic as a prelude to Virus Hunter Island. Check it out below, and read tons more official Poptropica comics on the PHB!

More island adventures, for all the benchers 🏝

Besides Virus Hunter, Poptropica is also filled with lots of other great island adventures to play. If staying at home is starting to feel like jail, try busting out of prison on Escape From Pelican Rock Island. If you miss large gatherings full of people, mingle with the cosplayers on PoptropiCon Island. Or if you prefer to strike it out on your own, embrace the solitude of Survival Island. There’s something for everyone, and we have all the guides you’ll need!

Here’s an open secret: the islands currently on the map aren’t the only ones you can play. With the Old Island Directory, you can play about 30 more old school islands, which Poptropica had taken down from the official game due to the older technology causing bugs. Since Flash is going down, now’s the time to play them before they’re gone for good!

Create or compete, staying upbeat 👩‍🎨

Even beyond the decades of islands, Poptropica still has a fair amount of fun to offer. The Photo Booth is back, your club house could use a refreshed design, and worlds are waiting to be made on Realms. And while you’re at it, maybe you’ll enjoy giving your character a new look, too!

Meeting up in real life may not be a great idea these days, but you can still hang out with friends online! Drop by the arcade at the same time and you can play games like Star Link together, or head in solo and find new buds. You can also challenge yourself on solo games like Blaster Attack.

And last but not least, join in on the PHB’s Community Creations challenge! This month’s theme is Hobbies, and all this downtime is a great opportunity to explore some (within health precautions, of course). Whatever the hobby, you have until the end of March to capture it for us Poptropica-style. Details here.

Poptropica comics return, Stubb from SOS, & PopStorm mouths

Hey everyone! Slippery here with a few updates.

After a two-week hiatus, Poptropica comics have finally returned from its slumber with 9 new strips for week 27, which you can catch up on by visiting the Creators’ Blog or by reading them here (click to view in full size)! Prepare for creepy hotels, raging rivers, and freaky Veggiestein…

Next off, the Creators tweeted a sketch made by a Poptropica illustrator of a story for Stubb, a character from SOS Island. You might recognize her from the time you went into the ship’s boiler. The Creators noted that she believes that “hard work fixes anything”. Check it out:

Last but not the least, the Creators tweeted their 5th PopStorm image, entitled “Menacing Mouths”, featuring… many weird mouths. Check ’em out!

Carnival creatures, Land worlds, comic, & Thanksgiving cravings

Hey Poptropicans! You can consider this post a continuation of my last post I suppose (I posted it just before a ton of new tweets came out). However, this one will be a little longer. 😉

First off, the Creators released another piece of Monster Carnival concept art, again for the creatures.

I think my favorite is the bottom left. 😛

The Creators released another planet-related post as well (although it is not related to Galactic Hot Dogs). Instead, it is a sneak peek for Poptropica Land! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we will create… A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!! XD We’ll get to manage our own worlds – pretty neat stuff!

I don’t know about you guys, but this looks amazing to me. Anyone getting a “Spore” vibe? 😀

In other news, we have a Poptropica comic sneak peek to share – most likely for the confirmed upcoming graphic novel!

Hehehe… XD

Before I go… Happy Veterans’ Day! You may not celebrate the occasion, but it’s still good to just say thank you for those who have protected you.

On that note, Poptropica just can’t wait for Thanksgiving!

Hmm… now I’m craving turkey and corn on the cob! 😛

The Old but New adventures of Comic Kid.
Ned Noodlehead by day, Comic Kid hero by night.

_Chapter 1_
TV Time

“Turn ON i say! Turn ON! Don’t make me use my special mind abilities on you.” threatened Comic Kid as he lazily waved the TV remote at the TV. The TV was not turning on for him. After hours of button jabbing, kicking, screaming, throwing the remote at the TV (Which i don’t think you should do. It doesn’t work!), he even climbed up this huge building and asked the old super hero if he could help. But with no success he had to resort in using he masterful powers to turn it on. This amazingly did not work either (I wonder why). His ‘special abilities’ had came to a decision that it was broken. Most likely just to old.  It looked like a trip to a TV store and what better place then Reality TV Island, they have loads of TV’s there (I wonder why :P).

After a short trip Comic Kid landed in the quiet street of TV Island. Strange though. There was no one around. Just loads of broken TV’s scattered underneath rows of houses. Uhuh! Look at all the other people with broken TV’s! This must be the perfect place to find a new TV, thought Comic Kid. It didn’t take him to long to find a TV store. In fact there were many TV stores. All in the one street. Comic Kid had a problem. Which one?

Now, Comic Kid loves his TV. Of course his beloved comic books will always be number 1, but his TV can be always number 2. He had to use his ‘special powers’ into choosing the right store for him and BAM! There, in the far side of the street was a small store with a huge TV in the window. Glowing from the screen were huge letters saying, ‘Buy Me! I WUV COMIC BOOKS!”

Comic Kids mouth dropped and his eyes turned into those adoring Japanese style eyes gleaming magical stars. He needed that TV! He raced into the store threw the money at the cash clerk yelled Keep the change and ran out the store with his new TV in hands.

One hour later Comic Kid had his feet proped up on his favourite couch, a hot chocolate in his hand and his monstrous new TV was set up waiting for him to turn on and play his favourite show “X-Popmen Heroes: The Cartoon series. With a flick of a button the room filled with a white light. The sound beamed around the room. His curtains shook and his hot chocolate turned cold. Then everything went quiet.  A message displayed on the ginormous screen. “The show has been canceled to show the new series of: Sponge Pop Circle Pants!”

You can ask any one on Super Power island what happened that very night. What happened after those evil words appeared. But lets just say Comic Kid had to get another new TV. Didn’t i say earlier that throwing the remote wont solve anything!

Blog Post Title: TV Time
Description: My old TV recently broke so I had to go shopping for a new one. Luckily for me I found a store that had lots of choices and found exactly what I needed.

Another Big Nate Comic and Pink Panther 2 Mission!

Hello all; Smockers here! It’s been quite a long time since I have posted (my last post was on New Years Day, in fact)! I was very busy with school stuff, but enough about me. To start, we get a new comic from the PCB! Hopefully, Big Nate Island will be released soon. Anyways, comic below (go to the Poptopica Creators’ Blog to view it full size!):

Thanks to Shiny Leaf for the above and below news! What could be under this text? Why, a Pink Panther 2 mission, of course! That’s right; on Spy Island, you can find this building:

pinkpanther2

When you go inside, you will be present with a mission to find the stolen Pink Painter. You have an inventory at the bottom of the screen. You will receive and find items that will ultimately let you find out who the criminal is. I don’t want to spoil it for people who want to just solve it by themselves; click on the “m0re…” button below if you want to see a walk-through. 🙂 Continue reading “Another Big Nate Comic and Pink Panther 2 Mission!”
