Baron's Airship, Fairy Tale Island

A Remarkably Red Rumpel-ween ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ˜ˆโœจ

Greetings, adventures! Yes, as teased in our previous post, the Baron’s airship just docked on Home Island โ€“ ahead of schedule, I might add. Players were concerned about the Baron’s well-being after she twitched with excitement for a Rumpelstiltskin-inspired collection then suddenly disappeared.

These strange events finally culminated into the Baron’s grand return. However, she now bears a striking resemblance to Rumpelstiltskin himself! I guess Rumpel couldn’t keep up the charade much longer. Baronstiltskin invites us little adventures to climb aboard her his airship. Let’s take up another challenge and see what awaits us this spooky season!

Baron? You look a little green.

The airship is mostly the same as usual except for a couple of key differences. The sky is purple and sparkly, similar to the appearance of Rumpel’s magic. Baronstiltskin stands where the Baron once stood, and Ack has been Rumpel-fied as well!

The Cabin of Curiosities is full of surprises this month. Let’s ease ourselves in by checking out the winning costumes: Candy Girl and Jester ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿคก! We currently don’t know who designed these costumes, but we’ll update this post once the winners are revealed.

Moving to the right, we see Amelia dangling from the ceiling while Baronstiltskin is eating grapes served by Rumpel-fied Ack. The three are surrounded by a pumpkin couch, candy bags, a jack-o’-lantern lamp, a black cat clock, and a cemetery painting. Despite being an aviator-apprehending antagonist, Rumpel offers all of these Halloween furnishings for the low price of 10 credits each.

Rumpelstiltskin reveals that he possessed the Baron and gave Ack an illusionary makeover. As for why he’s doing this, he alludes to how he became trapped on Fairytale Island then says that he is inviting the Baron’s mother over for tea.

Rumpelstiltskin confirms that the Red Baron has ties to Fairytale Island’s royal family, as shown in new dialogue options presented after completing the Baron’s Crusade quest (Thanks to Dizzy Feather for the screenshots!). Accounts from Rumpel and Fairytale’s prince paint the Baron’s mother, the Red Queen, as a destructive woman obsessed with cats and conquering. Why did the queen trap Rumpelstiltskin in the first place, and how can we fix this mess?

It makes you wonder if all of this was in Fairytale’s original pitch for the Create Your Dream Island contest. The Creators mentioned that the pitch had a full storyline and intrigue, two things that were admittedly missing when Fairytale Island first released. The sheer amount of quests, clues, and cameos relating to Fairytale Island, Rumpelstiltskin, Amelia, and the Baron are definitely leading up to something big.

I predict that we’ll see a new quest that will tie all of these storylines together. It’s hard to believe that it took almost two years to wrap up Fairytale Island’s story, which is bizarre to say the least. What do you make of all of this? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Pop-over: Ghost Rider

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Giant Dragon. Enjoy!

Hello Poptropicans, and happy belated Halloween!

Did you enjoy my “Ghost Rider” costume in the PHB’s Halloween Costume Contest? It won an honorable mention! For this post, I’m going to share how you can put this outfit together. Let us “pop” into it.

For those who don’t know, the Ghost Rider is a Marvel comic book superhero also adapted into movies. Wikipedia’s description of the character is “a human who can transform into a skeletal superhuman wreathed in ethereal flame and given supernatural powers.”

Now, putting the costume together is as easy as nibbling cheese! Here are the items you will need (the numbers are their codes in Card Collector, a glitching tool for getting all sorts of stuff):

  • Rock Star outfit (3006)
  • Torch Power (3050)
  • Skeleton Power or any outfit or ASG with a skull on it (3006)
  • Rumplestiltskin outfit (if you donโ€™t have the outfit, since it’s members-only, use the ASG Machine)

Before you start, remove any handheld item or anything else (including backpack and hair wigs). This is how you’ll assemble the outfit:

  1. Use the Skeleton Power and remove the ribs from it.
  2. Put on the Rumplestiltskin shirt.
  3. Activate Torch Power!

Add whatever pants you like, and there you go. Doesnโ€™t it look completely spooky?

Keep your eyes popped for my future posts! Dragon out.

Community Creations

Community Creations: October 2021

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the October recap for Community Creations! October’s theme was Ghosts & Ghouls, so be sure to check out all the featured artists (not in any order)!

No clue whatโ€™s going on? Go see our intro post.

Top 5 Picks

Ghost of a Rose by Midnightoilstudios

The violin from Ghost Story Island is definitely a memorable scene from Poptropica and fits our theme for obvious reasons. The soft approach to coloring in this work gives it an appropriately haunting appearance too. I can almost feel that fog! I love seeing these recognizable ghostly characters portrayed in this style. Find her DeviantArt here.

Daphne Dreadnaught by Criaha

A cool redraw of an older drawing, this design definitely fits the spooky season. Daphne Dreadnaught is such a fun character to see fan art for too. I love the subtle glow to the net and the different colored ghostly hands. And I know drawing hands is quite the feat! Find her Twitter here.

Ghost Story by Miss Eligon

Oooh, another Spook Central Mini Quest inspired submission! Again, that glow effect and the different colors of the ghosts give this scene great spooky atmosphere. I love how everything projects from the center of the design, creating a good sense of movement for the viewer’s eye. Wonderfully wicked work! Find her Twitter here.

Ghoul Costume by Comical Rock (Shiny Noodle)

Costumes are obviously a great approach for celebrating Halloween, and I love this dark design. What can I say, maybe I’m just a sucker for goth fits? Plus, the mask would come in handy today. Perhaps the outfit is not directly spectral, but it most certainly fits a ghoulish theme. Perhaps is may even be a good submission for Poptropica’s monthly costume contest! Though it’s too late for October’s Halloween winners, there’s always next month to participate. Find the artist commonly in the comments.

Grieving by Lucky Joker

Wouldn’t you know it, Ghost Story is not the only ghoulish island Poptropica has to offer! Made for Poptober Day 31 (ghost) last year, this work still holds up today. Vampire’s Curse certainly falls under the spooky island category, and the hazy image of Annabelle here plays into its haunting theme. I love the lighting and emotion that this submission has to offer. Find his Instagram here.

Honorable Mentions

No specific honorable mentions this month, but that’s okay! Too busy trick-or-treating I assume! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the winners of the PHB’s annual Halloween Costume Contest for even more grim work from the community.

November: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what itโ€™s about, itโ€™s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that monthโ€™s theme. So what is November’s theme? November’s theme isโ€ฆ

๐Ÿฌ Sweet & Sour! ๐Ÿญ

Maybe I’m still coming off my sugar high from all that Halloween candy, or maybe I’m just looking forward to Thanksgiving already. But either way, food is on my mind. But candied treats are not the only things that sweet and sour could refer to! Maybe you’ll spin the theme to feature a sweet hero and sour villain, or something similar, instead.

Go totally sweet or go totally sour, the choice is yours. Maybe you’ll candify your favorite Poptropicans, or make a candy inspired outfit in-game? Maybe bake a tasty treat based on Poptropica IRL, or write a story about a sweet and sour Poptropica feast! You could even take some inspo from the recent Candy Crazed event.

  • Submit: Comment below with a link to whatever youโ€™ve created, email it to the PHB team on our Contact page, OR share it with me (SydVC aka Spotted Dragon) on DeviantArtTwitter, or Discord.
  • Results: Next month, I will feature 5 submissions that stood out to me the most as well as some honorable mentions.
  • Limitations: Just make sure you relate to both the theme and Poptropica (and nothing NSFW or otherwise inappropriate).
  • Due Date: I will take any entries before the end of this month. Submit as many things as youโ€™d like!

I will be sure to let you know I have seen your creation. While quality counts, Iโ€™m mainly looking for something to simply catch my eye, so donโ€™t be afraid to join in!

So what are you waiting for? Go make something awesome!

Member Gifts, Social Media, Store

Amelia’s not squidding around with unicorns ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿฆ‘๐ŸŽƒ

Happy spooky season, Poptropicans! In addition to the PHB’s special Halloween site skin, this update brings you store (and more) treats, plus tantalizing tricks through bonus dialogue and memes. Let’s pop in!

October’s mood is Halloween spirit, and Poptropica promises that this entire month’s store updates are going to be Halloween themed โ€” starting now! At Adventure Outfitters, you’ll find tons of spooky costumes, and even more spilling over to the shop floor on both sides. Among them is a new blue Fuzzy Monster (Sully, is that you?) and the return of the Bubble Unicorn for members (you know Amelia, she loves her unicorns). See more on the Pop Creators’ Blog ยป

While we’re here for more treats than tricks, member gifts are here! Players of privilege can dress up with the Bread Head, Lion Mane, and Dino outfits โ€” matching with recent pet items.

After you’ve made your rounds at the store, consider paying Amelia a visit upstairs in her home. If you’ve completed Amelia’s mini quest, you can come back to her place to find her enjoying some tea. Strike up a conversation and she’ll talk about unicorns, naturally, as well as hint at more quests to come! ๐Ÿฆ„โ˜•๏ธ

Over on Twitter, Poptropica’s been playing a different game. Sharing images from the recent popular Netflix drama Squid Game, they created two memes about playing Poptropica beyond broken internet and reasonable bedtimes. Fortunately, playing Pop won’t get you eliminated because many islands themselves have already been decimated

Also fortunately, you don’t need to have watched the show (which is recommended for ages 16+) to enjoy these memes. Nope, new Pop might not have epic tribes like the Flying Squid, but at least we got these Stationary Squids for amusement. ๐Ÿฆ‘

That wraps up this post! Stay tuned for the PHB’s annual Halloween costume contest coming up soon โ€” you could even get a head start by snagging the latest scary store styles. Pop on, Poptropicans! ๐ŸŽƒโœจ
