Spellbinding sketches, dazzling dΓ©cor, and famed felons βœοΈβœ¨πŸ˜ˆ

Hello, everyone! It’s time check out some new Poptropica updates regarding drawing, interior decorating, and kidnapping. Need context for that last sentence? Keep on reading!

First, the Creators announced a new mini quest coming to Poptropica. While they didn’t say much regarding the story, they did gladly share a thumbnail sketch. It shows Amelia and a black cat taking a selfie while two other characters are in the middle of a magical baking mishap.

The woman with curly hair and glasses looks familiar. In fact, her likeness is featured alongside Amelia and (formerly) Xavier on a set of statues on Home Island. It looks like we’ll finally get to learn the identity of this studious sorceress. πŸ§™β€β™€οΈπŸ“š

Five new furnishings have graced the clubhouse store! Players can decorate their virtual homes with a Poptropica flag (100 credits), a set of lighting panels (75 credits), a summer wreath (150 credits), and an oil diffuser (100 credits). Meanwhile, members can make their clubhouses extra colorful with the LED fan (150 credits). Here’s a picture I took of the new items in my clubhouse.

A new video showed up on the official Poptropica TikTok account, but it also made an appearance in Pop’s latest Instagram story. This new video highlights some of the more problematic elements of our favorite villains, particularly the fact that they all share kidnapping tendencies. Here are a few stills as an example.

Last and certainly not least, Golden Wolf returned to the Creators’ Blog to share more of her art. In her latest guest post, GW showcased fan art of myself, PHB founder Slanted Fish, and fellow writer Smart Icicle! Thank you so much, Golden Wolf! ❀️πŸ₯°β€οΈπŸ₯°

GW also mentioned that, every month, she will draw an anime character as a Poptropican and share it on her future guest posts. As an example, she drew Sakura Haruno from Naruto, which was featured in Poptropica’s July Costume Contest video compilation. Which anime character do you want to see drawn in the Poptropica style?

That’s all I have for you today. What do you think the new mini quest will be about? Which villains should be called out next? Let us know in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Introducing: Poptober drawing challenge πŸ–Œ

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post from MaryannTheConqueror.

It’s October! We are finally in the midst of fall, a time of color-changing leaves, pumpkin spice, spooky season… and art challenges!

While art challenges can exist year-round, many are set in October, especially after the β€œInktober” trend. Since then, many alternative challenges have sprung up, including something for Poptropica enthusiasts. Introducing the Poptropica drawing challenge: Poptober!

The goal of this challenge is simple: draw something every day according to each of the prompts! Of course, you will not be shamed if you cannot make all the days (I doubt I will). Or, if you’re feeling a lower commitment, check out happyclonetrooper’s version of the Poptober challenge, with weekly instead of daily prompts.

You can use any medium, make your drawings as simple or complex as you wish, and interpret the prompts any way you choose. If you want to, you can even combine challenges (such as making all the subjects cats, or doing all the drawings in ink like the original Inktober). Just have fun, don’t stress, and make art!

To share your Poptober drawings with the world, you can post wherever the Poptropica fan art appreciators are: some places to start are the PHC’s #art channel on Discord, the We-Love-Poptropica DeviantArt group, Instagram and Twitter with the #Poptropica tag, and even the comments of this post. Excited to see what you make!

And for more creative endeavors in the fandom, keep an eye out for the PHB’s monthly Community Creations coming later today.

Have a great start to the spooky season!

Hope you enjoyed this guest post by MaryannTheConqueror. If you did, be sure to check out another recent post of hers: a ramble review on Ghost Story Island. And of course, join in on the fun on the PHC Discord.

The Poptropica Help Blog welcomes interesting Poptropica insights from anyone in the Poptropica community with thoughts to share. You can find some tips and guidelines on our page on how to Write for the PHB, and share blog posts on the PHC.

πŸ“Ί Pop YouTubers: making art, rapping smart πŸŽ¨πŸŽ€

Hey Poptropicans, we’re back with another spotlight on YouTubers fuelling their creativity with Poptropica!

This first video comes from an artist called roseshards, who typically posts animations and paintings of cats on her channel. Here, however, Rose takes on a challenge to make good art using the easel on Counterfeit Island. Can it be done on this limited drawing feature? Watch her struggles and successes:

With just a computer mouse (for the most part) and no undo button, this talented artist was able to turn out a pretty spectacular painting, wouldn’t you say? If you’d like to try out this easel for yourself, check out our post on the situation with classic islands to find your way to Counterfeit Island.

Onto a different art form, a little-known rapper going by the name Yung Boy recently dropped a track called “Garrett” and dedicated it to Poptropica. This rap follows a guy named Garrett, who finds himself on 24 Carrot Island, explores a bit, then moves on to Mythology Island. Check it out:

This Poptropica rap seems to be the first of its kind, and it was pretty slick, right? The gameplay captured in the video goes great with the beat, and the seemingly simplistic lyrics flow well. Sure would be cool to see more of these!

That’s all for this post. Hope you enjoyed these creative videos! And if you’re inspired to make some Poptropica fan art of your own, check out the PHB’s Community Creations. Keep on rocking, Poptropicans! 🀘

Folklore figures: wear ’em, draw ’em, join ’em

Hey, Poptropicans! We hope you’ve recovered from the flash of shock we gave earlier this month and are ready to dive into what else April has in store.

The April member gifts promise a blast to the past with three costumes based on some famous historical figures: Cleopatra, Sire Lancelot, and Pocahontas.

Speaking of the last costume, it looks oddly familiar. The Pocahontas costume bears a striking resemblance to Sacagawea in Time Tangled Island.

TimeTangled_Sacagawea

And what’s more, she’s fully customizable, even for non-members! So even if you’re not a member this month, you can get at least one of the member gifts. πŸ˜‰ Just head on over to 1805 A.D. (the Lewis and Clark expedition) on Time Tangled Island, and you’ve got your two-for-one Native American look.

(Creators, next time maybe don’t imply that distinct iconic characters of shared ancestry, yet different time periods, are interchangeable by their appearance?)

On Instagram, Poptropica challenged artists to draw Ned Noodlehead in their style and to share the drawings with the hashtag #NedNoodlehead. Interesting that they chose Ned, the comic shop kid from Super Power Islandβ€”one of the old school islands that have disappeared from the map.

Within a day, creative fans got to work, and Poptropica featured some of the Ned Noodlehead art on their Instagram story. Check out these magnificent Noodlehead doodles! Think you could give it a try, too?

Recently, Poptropica has been promoting Timmy Failure Island on various channelsβ€”social media, the Creators’ Blog, and even the Home Island billboard. (Did you know that Timmy Failure has its own Disney+ movie now?)

But something odd has happened: Timmy Failure Island, which was formerly free for all, is now only available to members. Unlike with previously member-locked islands, this time non-members won’t even get to play a demo before hitting the paywall message. (Thanks for the tip, Perfect Fish.)

Strangely, the message refers to “early access” for Timmy Failure Island being for members only, even though the island came out in 2015. Did they just forget to change the wording, or are they working on revamping Timmy Failure for the Javascript (post-Flash) project and letting members beta test it first? Whatever the case, let’s hope it isn’t a failure.

Thoughts on this month’s member gifts and the fate of Timmy Failure Island? Want to share a Noodlehead doodle with us? Drop them in the comments!

Also, check out the other stuff we’ve got going on in the posts below! Join us for Community Creations (current theme: “stay at home”), take the 2020 PHB readers’ survey, and get some ideas for passing the time in quarantine with some good old Poptropica.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
