Let’s Explain the Poptropica Iceberg! No Comment? 🧊

Good evening— or good morning depending where you live. Are you ready for Pop news? Let’s go!

Pop player KrishMortyJunior aka Krish made a video called “The Poptropica Iceberg Explained”. The 18-minute video covers each layer of the Poptropica iceberg, which details fun facts, Easter eggs, notable creators, and scrapped content relating to the game. Check it out:

There are so many facts covered in the video that you’re bound to learn something new. And we appreciate the inclusion of the PHB around the 5:44 minute mark — thanks, Krish! 🥰

In other blog-related news, it looks like we can no longer leave comments under posts on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog. We find that pretty suspicious, since fans have been calling for the Creators to update their blog, which has been silent since February. Instead of answering fans’ cries, they cut off one avenue of communication.

The Pop Creators’ Blog no longer accepts new comments.

What’s going on behind the scenes? The game still receives small updates, but the Creators don’t talk about anything outside of social media. For example, they recently shared a “Popstorm” tutorial on drawing a planet using artwork from Galactic Hot Dogs. It’s neat but nothing substantial, even with the Gatorade joke in the caption.

Poptropica is definitely in a weird state. At least fans like Krish are able to keep the game alive. If you want to talk to fellow fans, come join us over on our Discord server, the Poptropica Help Chat (for ages 13+).

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Plaid Patterns Battle Bionic Bee Blitz 🧵🐝

Hey there, Poptropicans! The Pop Creators gave us new items to buy, new videos to watch, and new teasers to ponder. Let’s take a look at what they shared today, starting with a preview of a loading screen advertising the upcoming Goofball Island side quest!

This screenshot confirms the quest’s title to be “Blitz on the Fritz” and gives us a better idea of the storyline. It seems that Blitz, a red robot bee, is wreaking havoc across Poptropica and causing various islands to either go goofy or become bland. Players might need to do some island-hopping to complete this quest, much like they did during Rumpel’s riddle hunt in Fairytale Island’s side quest.

Is Blitz acting alone or is it working with its bee buddies? Is Katie Dare the mastermind of this island-transforming spree? Members can tune in to stop this byte-sized pest and return Poptropica to normalcy! 🤖🐝

Before a bionic swarm hits Poptropica, let’s see what new items are in store this week. Do Mondays get you in a shopping mood? This drawing by Friendly Feather sums up our mood whenever Pop updates its in-game shops. No Amelias are available for purchase yet. 🛍️✏️

Adventure Outfitters continues Pop’s winter fashion trend with the Frosty Babe outfit, which boasts super cute red plaid flannel vest and earmuffs. Everyone can purchase this flannel-tastic outfit for 250 credits. ❤️🖤

The clubhouse store added five new winter decorations and two returning classics. All players can buy the Pinecone Garland (100 credits), Hanging Snowflake (75 credits), Scented Candle (75 credits), and Tea Set (200 credits). Members can also buy the all-new Honeycomb Shelf (150 credits) as well as the returning Pop Star Poster (75 credits) and Stained Glass Window (250 credits).

Two new videos have been uploaded to Poptropica’s Youtube channel. The first video is a nostalgic lookback at Nabooti Island‘s mancala minigame. What are your thoughts on this classic game of stones and strategy?

The second video is admittedly more interesting. This video confirms that PoptropiCon: Episode 2 will be returning soon! While this video is basically a reupload of the original PoptropiCon trailer from 2014, the news of another PoptropiCon episode returning to the game is exciting. 🦸

Last but not least, the Pop Creators recently featured a costume contest submission in their latest Instagram story. IG user clovermulo aka Curious Heart designed a stylish Thrifty Girl costume complete with preppy plaid threads, caramel highlights, and sparkly heart earrings. If you want to enter this month’s costume contest, submit your designs before January 17th at 8pm PST.

That’s all for now! Are you looking forward to the release of Goofball’s side quest? How about the return of PoptropiCon: Episode 2? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for our post covering Goofball Island: Blitz on the Fritz!

Rumpel’s rhymes and pineapple slime 👑🍍

Boo, Poptropicans! 👻 Coming at you with a little Rumpel, another Halloween store update, and hints of something to come. Let’s pop in!

Poptropica just dropped a video walkthrough for Rumpel’s Challenge, the members-only sequel to Fairytale Island released last month. In the vid, Pop Creator Silent Frog mentions “other Halloween surprises coming later this month” — what could they be? Read on for a guess…

And if you’re interested in an even quicker way to solve Rumpel’s riddle in the treasury, check out our Rumpel’s Challenge Side Quest Guide!

Red October still reigns on Home Island and Amelia-the-unicorn’s got some creepy stuff in store to rival the Baron! Head on over and find new Headless Man and Egyptian Mummy costumes — it’s their first appearance on Haxe, though they were born from the Flash days, like the repurposed clubhouse décor here to haunt your house.

Back to the question of upcoming Halloween treats — Poptropica’s latest Instagram story may offer a clue for what might be brewing. Pop posted a pop quiz asking, “What antidote cures the Zomberries?” and if you know your stuff, the answer is pineapple slime. 🍍

The IG story is referring to Zomberry Hero, a special event from last year’s Halloween, based on the classic Zomberry Island. This mini-game involved sneaking around town to turn Zomberries back into people and previously promised more to come. Could we be coming face-to-face with zombie alligators in a sequel? Only slime will tell!

That’s a wrap for this update. Have you decked out your clubhouse (or your costume) for spooky times? What are your guesses for Poptropica’s Halloween surprises? Trick or treat yo’self, Poptropicans! 🎃✨

PHB Special: Backspace — “Blank Space” Taylor Swift Parody Music Video 🎵👩‍🎤

Hey, Poptropicans! We had a lot of fun watching your Poptropica Month videos this year — and even highlighted some of our favorites.

Of course, we didn’t want to feel left out of the fun, so we’ve been working on something too… Without further ado, we at the Poptropica Help Blog present our first hit single: “Backspace”!

A few months ago, Slanted Fish had the idea to write a Poptropica parody of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” for Poptropica Month 2021. While the original “Blank Space” satirizes media’s obsession with Swift’s love life, “Backspace” expresses fans’ grievances with modern-day Poptropica. The end product was a fun and (unfortunately) relatable glimpse into being a Poptropica fan in 2021.

Every lyrical masterpiece needs a singer, so imagine my surprise when Slanted Fish asked me to provide vocals! Why me? Well, it might have had something to do with me mentioning that I like to sing WAY back in my introduction to the PHB post. I wonder what 2018 me would have thought if she knew what including that little detail would lead to? Just don’t ask me to dance, though.

Recording audio was easier said than done. I own a Blue Snowball microphone, an omnidirectional microphone that picks up every little sound in the room. On top of that, it was difficult finding a good time and place to record amid conflicting work schedules, Florida’s summer storms, and noisy chickens. Don’t believe me on that last one? Here’s an exclusive behind-the-scenes listen at me dealing with four rambunctious roosters. 🐓🐓🐓🐓

Recording was only half the battle. For mixing, I used a free program called Audacity, which is also called Audiotonic in the Microsoft Store. After sorting through multiple takes and playing with the volume, I finally exported the track and sent it Fishy’s way. Finally, she created the accompanying music video using various Poptropica island trailers from over the years.

We hope you all liked our little pop song! Will we make another music video like this in the future? Eh, we’ll see… Anyway, be sure to also check out the Poptropica Month 2021 playlist for more awesome Pop-related videos. It’s a fun way to celebrate Poptropica’s birthday— err, funeral as the Dimension Bros would say.

Thank you for listening, and have a good day!

Contests, Fan Art Features, Social Media, YouTubers

Sweet creations from all dimensions 🎨🎥🎂

Hello, everyone! It’s been an eventful birthday month for Poptropica, and the festivities are still going strong. Now, the Pop Creators have introduced a mini contest on Instagram with a prize of 10,000 credits!

And it gets better: the subject is none other than the iconic Dr. Beev, the Mocktropica pseudo-character turned celebrity who even made a brief appearance in the game earlier this week. The challenge for the contest is to draw Dr. Beev in your style (be sure to post with the tag #drbeev).

Check out that high-res pic of the Beev straight out of the bin! You know what they say, one Creator’s trash is an entire community’s treasure.

The trash bin on Mocktropica Island, featuring “discarded” character parodies like the great Dr. Beev (who’s arguably cooler than Dr. Hare).

Share your Beev tributes from now until September 30 (next next Wednesday) for a chance at those sweet credits!

September has seen a plethora of Poptropica content, from surprise fan art features to the ongoing Poptropica Month video event. Let’s take some time to highlight some of the wonderful stuff that we (and the Creators) are loving.

The Creators shared two more pieces of fan art on their Instagram story. This time, we have an Poptropican persona drawing (a.k.a. a Popsona) by @petalshere and a 24 Carrot illustration by @ihatefridaysihf.

The fan features don’t stop on Instagram! The Creators’ Blog also shared a YouTube video by happyclonetrooper, who created a 3D model of her Popsona, Maroon Ring. Cool to see Poptropicans in the third dimension!

On the topic of YouTube, let’s take a moment to appreciate a few of the many Poptropica Month videos made so far!

Our first feature is from Theo of Dimension Bros, who posted a video on his personal channel in which he bakes a Poptropica birthday cake. Delicious, and reminiscent of Poptropica’s own 9th birthday cake! 😋

Next, here’s one from TheOrangeHe answering questions from MaryannTheConqueror‘s Poptropica Month tag. Several other creators have joined in on the tag as well, so that could be a good place to start if you’re interested in participating as a creator in Pop Month!

Finally, here’s a short and sweet animated meme by Kid Whom Has A Hat, featuring the song “Weak” by AJR amid a slight spoiler for Octavian in the Poptropica graphic novels (read the first one on our Comics page!).

We’ll leave you with one more thing to contemplate, a question that was also the subject of a recent Instagram story from the Pop Creators: How would you explain Poptropica in a single sentence to a friend?

As always, share your thoughts in the comments and on our PHC Discord server! After all, the Dr. Beev shenanigans certainly showed us the Creators are lurking…

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
