Popspiracy: the Red Baron is Not the Queen of Fairytale Island 👸

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Dizzy Feather. Enjoy!

Hello everyone, Dizzy Feather here with a theory on Amelia and the Red Baron. I’m going to split this into two parts. This is part one, where I’m going to be discussing the theory of the Queen mentioned at the end of Rumpel’s Challenge being the Baron. You might have heard that theory, but I’m not here to prove it right. I don’t blame you if you think it is — I thought so too, until I played Rumpel’s Challenge.

Let’s get into why I changed my mind, shall we? The picture that stirred it all up was this one from last Thanksgiving:

Some comments on that post suggested it was showing that the Baron was part of the royal family of Fairytale Island, and possibly was even the queen herself. Both the king and prince are crying, which makes sense considering they are afraid of the queen. Overall, this photo is a solid piece of evidence supporting the queen = Baron theory… or is it?

Let’s look at the photo closer, specifically the background. We see a silhouette of the queen and some cats with red glowing eyes. The queen seems to have long pointy eyelashes, but the Baron only has a few black lines for eyelashes like most female Poptropicans. Also, why would there be a silhouette of the queen with the Baron at the same time if they were the same character? Seems kinda pointless to me.

Let’s move on to our next piece of evidence: cats. A while back, the Pop Creators shared concept art of a character for Fairytale Island. Here it is:

The third picture of the character looks like the statue and the silhouette of the queen. But look at the first one: she’s holding a bunch of cats. In the background of the Thanksgiving photo, she is surrounded by cats. So the queen seems to like cats. As for the Baron? We have never seen her with a cat… in fact we’ve only seen her with one pet, Ack the monkey.

Still, need more proof? How about this golden statue of the Baron wearing a crown in the royal treasury of Fairytale Island?

Looks just like her, though she’s wearing a crown here. Meanwhile, the queen gets her own large statue in the middle of the treasury that looks totally different. Considering that most characters in Poptropica keep the same outfit, they are probably two distinct characters. Truthfully, I don’t see the Baron being an exception to this. So my thought is, the Baron is related to the queen, but she isn’t the queen herself.

The queen’s statue is right in the middle of the treasury with the sleeping dragon.

I came to that conclusion after considering what I shared above. You’re welcome to believe otherwise, but I have my mind made up.

Next time, I’ll be sharing my theory on how Amelia is a villain…

Popspiracy: Rumpel the Treasury Thief 🍍

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Young Rider. Enjoy!

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! I know the Rumpel’s Challenge side quest just opened up for non-members, and while I was looking at a picture in the walkthrough, I happened to notice a few interesting things.

First off, from the Home Island quest, where did Xavier’s statue go? Did it stay in the pond in our backyard where we confronted Xavier? I have an answer. In the top right corner of the treasury, Xavier’s statue lies half submerged in gold. Did Rumpelstiltskin steal it from our backyard?

What if Rumpel dressed up as Xavier and stole the statue? And what is up with that big bag “Xavier” was carrying — was it gold? Looks like the treasury had lots of gold. What if Rumpel was stealing more?

Next, why is there a golden pineapple in the lower corner of the treasury? Sure looks like one of the starter items from when you first get your clubhouse. Speaking of which, where do those starter clubhouse items even come from? What if Rumpel stole them from the treasury of Fairytale Island and sold them to the clubhouse dealer for profit?

That’s all for now, hope you like this post!

Popular Poptropican: Dizzy Feather

Hey Poptropicans, it’s been a hot minute since our last Popular Poptropican interview, but we’re back with a new one! ⭐️

Today’s guest is Dizzy Feather, whom you may recognize as the author of The Pink Knight fanfiction series, and whose My Place in Poptropica story you can read here. Welcome, Dizzy Feather! Let’s pop into it.

Dizzy Feather

What inspired you to write Poptropica fanfiction, and your specific stories?

When I first found the PHB, the first post I read was The Villain Saga fanfiction and I loved it! I wanted to try my hands at writing my own fanfiction. I created The Pink Knight after reading/watching Invisible Ring’s PoptropiCon Saga comics on her YouTube channel. It heavily inspired me — in fact, if you would watch them, you’ll see a few similarities between the two stories.

What advice would you give to aspiring Poptropica fanfic writers?

Have a backup plan if your plot doesn’t turn out the way you want it to. Sometimes you’ll have a great idea for a plot, but once you finish writing it, you might realize it’s not all that good and have to scrap it. If you already have part of it published, and you don’t have a backup, you might have to have to end it on a cliffhanger. Anyway, on the backup plan, make sure you tie it into the preexisting parts of the story. For example, it’s going to look weird if one chapter you’re on the Great Booga Shark, and the next you’re on the Red Baroness, without any explanation.

Mount Improbable: Mountaineering is too dangerous these days.

What do you enjoy about the Poptropica community?

So many things to choose from! But I would have to say my favorite thing would be seeing other fans’ creations.

What do you hope for the future of Poptropica and its fandom?

I hope Poptropica will be able to have all the islands and mini-quests back, and that the fandom will continue to grow.

Soft Serve: We all scream for froyo.

What is (or was) your favorite Poptropica island and why?

Another hard one to pick. I would have to say Shrink Ray. Although I never finished it, it was fun to have my character shrunk.

Who is (or was) your favorite Poptropica character and why?

Why, Dr. Hare of course. The rabbit theme is hilarious, but I do wish we got more of him than a couple lines of dialogue.

Stall no more: Rumpel’s Challenge for all 😈

Adventures await, Poptropicans!

Pop drop alert: Rumpel’s Challenge is now available for all! 😈 Once for members only, this side quest sequel to Fairytale Island which first launched 10 months ago is finally welcoming non-members who’ve completed the main quest to continue the story.

To get cracking on the riddles, find Rumpelstiltskin on Home Island. Alas, the lead-up with the suspiciously twitching Baron is no longer in sight. For a helping hand in your inter-island search for the true king of Fairytale, keep our Rumpel’s Challenge Side Quest Guide close! 🏰👑

Speaking of the infamous magic man, check out this early concept art of the devilish character revealed on Pop’s Twitter! My, what big eyes you have… 👀

While you’re on Home Island, you may also notice a new ad building for animated Netflix movie Sea Beast! 🐙 Like the Rainbow High ad earlier, inside you can pick a team and play a game for prizes. You’ll have to run around and find 10 little beasts before time is up –– mind the tentacles! You can play for each team to get each of their prizes: the Yellow Follower and Blue Follower (yup, how original).

(Thanks to Fearless Star for contributing to this segment!)

Also, guest writer Invisible Ring is back with a post of encouragement for finding a spirit of adventure with Poptropica. 💫 Check out her post over on the Creators’ Blog, filled with tons of postcard-perfect shots!

And more excitement is to come — check back later today for the start of our next round in the Poppies awards: the voting! See you soon!
