Heyo Poptropicans! Purple here with fresh news: the long-requested but never before seen Spongebob Island has appeared on the map!
According to the creators, fans have petitioned them, sent them letters, and made posts across social media in the hopes of one day seeing Atlantic City in Poptropica. And now, on time with the release of “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run,” SpongeBob’s arrived! To access Spongebob Island, find it near Snagglemast on the map — or enter it through the ads in the in-between scenes on any island.
Upon landing in the glorious underwater world of Atlantic City, you’ll find Spongebob himself waiting for you with a mission. His pet snail Gary’s gone missing, and he needs you to follow the suspicious slime trail and find the lost snail!
As you follow the trail, it’s difficult not to get distracted by the prizes and attractions surrounding you! It couldn’t hurt to stop by the movie theater on your way to grab the SpongeBob’s Boat prize and indulge in a fun game of Snack Attack.
The rules of Snack Attack are simple: you’re given 4 minutes on the clock to gather 70 movie snacks from various places around the room. Once you’ve finished picking up as much popcorn, soda, and candy as you can, you’ll be rewarded with two prizes: the SpongeBob Follower (who’s as big as your character) and Character Emojis (press space bar to say some of SpongeBob’s iconic phrases).
If collecting all those snacks made you hungry, hop on up to the top of the Snack Attack theater, where you’ll find Patrick Star enjoying a delicious Krabby Patty or two! Crank the lever to unleash a torrent of Krabby Patties falling from the sky. 🍔
Run further along down the road — passing Mr. Krabs and his pincers of money on the way — and you’ll find Sandy Cheeks waiting with three familiar head-to-head mini-games: High Dive (Sky Dive), Star Link, and Bubble-loons (Balloons), all fashioned to fit the SpongeBob ocean theme. Think you’ve got what it takes to beat your opponent?
Now, that’s all very enjoyable, but enough fun and games — we can’t forget the missing snail Gary and his snaking slime trail! Follow the snail trail all the way up to the huge pair of dice on the rooftop, where you’ll find Gary with a pair of Character Balloons. Go ahead and grab those balloons; they’ll be added to your inventory as a bonus prize. Huzzah!
Now that you’ve seen all there is to see on SpongeBob Island, take a look at the Creators’ other exciting announcement: they’re going to be giving away 5 one-year memberships to the makers of the funniest videos involving SpongeBob Island! If you’ve been hoping for a chance to win a free membership, then this is your opportunity to get creating. Or, if you don’t win this time around, you could always enter in the PHB’s monthly membership giveaways instead!
Welp, that’s just about all for today! Were all the games and prizes fun enough for you, or was your vacation to Atlantic City not what you’d hoped for? Are you planning on entering the SpongeBob video contest? Comment your opinions down below!
Hey Poptropicans, you read that right: the Poptropica Help Blog is starting a new initiative of giving away free Poptropica memberships!
We know how hard it can be to miss out on the special perks that members get, and we want to give you all a chance to get in on that fun. By the way, if you need a refresher on what membership has to offer, check out our Membership Tour page, updated for 2021!

We’ll announce a winner sometime in the final week of each month. If you don’t win, you can always try again for the next month!
For the full details, including all caveats and the philosophies behind these giveaways, head on over to the PHB’s Free Poptropica Membership page. That’s also where you get started on entering the monthly raffles!
We’re excited to bring you these opportunities for hopefully a long time to come. With both the thrill of a lucky draw as well as the encouragement to get involved with the Poptropica community, what are you waiting for? We’ll meet you in the PHB comments! 🥳
Hey Poptropicans! The Poptropica Creators have been on a roll lately with their social media, bringing us throwbacks, fun facts, and even a splash of magnanimity! Let’s pop in and take a look.
The Poptropica Creators’ Blog and Instagram spotlighted Jeff Kinney — the man who started Poptropica, yet is better known as the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series — and invited fans to “let Mr. Kinney know how much Poptropica means to everyone” by sharing Poptropica memories that they promise they’ll share on social media and even with Mr. Kinney himself! You can create fan art, write letters, make videos, and more with the hashtag #ThanksKinney so the Creators can see.
On Instagram, the PHB (we’re @poptropicahare) asked if Jeff Kinney still gets involved with Poptropica’s development. The Creators liked the comment, but didn’t answer. Guess we’ll take that as a no…?
Other fans have been wondering about the founder’s silence about the game he created as well. In 2018, the PHB published a guest post that touches on Mr. Kinney’s deep investment into Wimpy Kid at the expense of leaving Poptropica behind. Even if he doesn’t come back to Poptropica, we hope his vision for the game can remain.
Still, #ThanksKinney for starting it all! And if you have Poptropica memories or creations to share, the deadline is September 20 (Sunday).
The Creators have been active on Instagram with two new stories featuring fan posts: one an animation of a dancing Binary Bard from @neon.bug, the other a fun fact about Monster Carnival characters from @happyclonetrooper. By the way, for more Poptropica fun facts, check out the trivia section at the end of all our PHB island guides!
Oh, and there’s more from Instagram: in an unusual act of spontaneous generosity, the Creators also reached out to Dimension Bros, the YouTuber duo behind Poptropica Month, to offer them free memberships! Here’s Theo’s first reaction of experiencing the Poptropica heavens open with access to newly unlocked features, including thousands of bonus credits to spend in the stores:
Theo also shared with the PHB that the gifted membership doesn’t expire until December 31, 2022 according to his account settings—which adds up to about 2 years and 4 months! That’s literally impossible for us regular plebs to attain, not counting auto-renewals, since you can only buy up to a year of membership at once.
This also seems to be the first time the Creators have ever given out free memberships outside of people winning their (and occasionally the PHB’s) contests. Pretty cool—hey Creators, want to hook us up too? 😉
In other news, as you may have noticed, the PHB website has a new look! Our previous theme from WordPress (which is the blogging platform we use) has been retired, so to keep things running for future updates, we’ve switched over to a new theme called Dara.
It may take a little getting used to, but we’ve tried to find one with similar elements to the previous. This new theme comes with bigger fonts and easy access to the PHB’s socials via the buttons on top, so we hope you’ll come to love it like we do!
And finally, after 8 days of tasks, achievements, and recycled gameplay, the activities on Paradise Island have come to a stop—at least for now. If you’ve made it past the day with the PoptropiCon “festival,” future days simply consist of logging in for daily credit rewards, which you can use to decorate your island, home, pets, or character.
With Poptropica’s birthday month in full swing, there’s plenty going on in the fandom these days! Join in on creating and/or watching Poptropica Month videos, party with Dr. Beev stans next week, make something mask-related for Community Creations, and of course, give a #ThanksKinney for making this all possible. Pop on, Poptropicans. 🎉
