The Four Glitches of the A-Pop-calypse ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ‘พ

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Dangerous Dragon. Enjoy!

Hi Poptropicans, DD here. For quite some time now while playing Poptropica, Iโ€™ve been encountering some glitches like these. Have you?

De-coded: There’s a glitch in the system.

1. Really laggy friends page

Have you noticed that the friends page takes a really long time to load, especially when youโ€™re inviting your friends to the common room? After it has loaded, it also takes quite a bit of time to show people’s avatars in the blue circles.

2. Glitchy clubhouse

If youโ€™re a person like me who likes to get as much stuff as possible into the clubhouse inventory, you might have encountered this. If you get an idea one day to redesign your clubhouse, you might find that your inventory is all messed up. Sometimes my items disappear, they donโ€™t load, sometimes items overlay other items. Sometimes it just freezes on the spot.

3. Character page can’t reset

I figure this one probably happens to everyone. Ever try on a new costume? Before, when you were customising from the new costume and didn’t like part of it, you could just simply press the cross button to cancel the whole operation.

Now in the new character menu, when you wear something and take it off, the part doesn’t come back. Not even the reset button works. It’s just bad. I don’t understand why the creators had to change it. Before, in your inventory, you could just keep your cursor on the arrow and it would move by itself. Now you gotta keep clicking.

4. C’mon! Fix the black screen already

Seems like everyone experienced this: the black, black screen of death where the game doesn’t load and gets stuck for one whole day. This has been going on for a long time! I hope the creators fix this ASAP.

So these are the main issues that keep occurring โ€” Poptropica’s four horsemen of the apocalypse, if you will. Now to end on a brighter note, here are a couple suggestions I have for features I’d like to see in-game:

  1. Friend requests via message tab: If you’ve ever got two or more requests from people who want to friend you, you have to reload the page many times as you can only accept one by one. Instead of this, it would be great if we could get a message for each potential friend that we could scroll through. It could say something like: “Would You Like To Be Friends? Accept/Deny.”
  2. Features from the old friend page: I have not seen the old friends page, but I have learnt about it through old posts and videos. Pop Quizzes, Tribes, Mood, Island Medallions, Album Photos and much more โ€” it would be awesome to have those back.

That’s it for today!

Thanks and Keep Poppin,

DD ๐Ÿ’œ

POP it in the oven and bake it off ๐ŸŽ‚

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Dangerous DragonEnjoy!

Hi Poptropicans, DD here with the new Pop advertisement! Itโ€™s for an upcoming Disney reality TV show called Magic Bake-Off. Head there through the map or the ad building.

Once you enter, youโ€™ll be paired up with a team to bake a cake, facing off against another team. There are two rounds.

Let’s get baking! The instructions for round one will pop-up. Follow the steps, and soon the cake will be ready to bake in the oven.

Then comes the second round. Again, follow the instructions, and your cake will be done and decorated. Thatโ€™s your cake!

For your efforts, you’ll win two prizes, a Sprinkles Cannon and Icing Blaster. Here’s me modeling the giant sprinkle gun.

Thatโ€™s the end! I wonder… is this the real recipe they use in the Disney show? Thatโ€™s it for today, now you try it!

Keep Poppin,

DD ๐Ÿ’œ

Fan Art Features, Social Media, Store

Sporty and artsy costumes in time for August! โ˜€

Hello Poptropicans! We have a bit of store-related news, as well as some more fanart features on Instagram and the August costume contest!

Naturally with the Olympics hype there is bound to be some sports-related goods up, and this month in the Poptropica Store is the new Speedy Cycler costume. There are also several classic costumes and more recent ones, including the Spring Floral Dress, Barbarian Warrior, and the epic Acidic Dinosaur!!! ๐Ÿฆ–

The Creators also included a reference to a certain… let’s just say a speedy cycling incident in their blog post.

On the subject of costumes, the Monthly Costume Contest has returned for August! So, if you ever get a good idea that you would like to see in-game, don’t be afraid to show off your creativity! It’s quite epic to see fan-made creations in game, and itโ€™s always good to practice your drawing and design skills!

In case you missed it earlier, Creators also posted a video on their official YouTube channel featuring past submissions from July’s contest:

To conclude, here are four fantastic fanarts shared on the Creators’ Instagram stories. We have one very impressive Pop OC, and three great colored pages from the Poptropica fan-produced coloring book!

Do any of you plan to enter the costume contest, perhaps to make more giant epic dinosaurs for me to review? Let us know!

Spellbinding sketches, dazzling dรฉcor, and famed felons โœ๏ธโœจ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Hello, everyone! It’s time check out some new Poptropica updates regarding drawing, interior decorating, and kidnapping. Need context for that last sentence? Keep on reading!

First, the Creators announced a new mini quest coming to Poptropica. While they didn’t say much regarding the story, they did gladly share a thumbnail sketch. It shows Amelia and a black cat taking a selfie while two other characters are in the middle of a magical baking mishap.

The woman with curly hair and glasses looks familiar. In fact, her likeness is featured alongside Amelia and (formerly) Xavier on a set of statues on Home Island. It looks like we’ll finally get to learn the identity of this studious sorceress. ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

Five new furnishings have graced the clubhouse store! Players can decorate their virtual homes with a Poptropica flag (100 credits), a set of lighting panels (75 credits), a summer wreath (150 credits), and an oil diffuser (100 credits). Meanwhile, members can make their clubhouses extra colorful with the LED fan (150 credits). Here’s a picture I took of the new items in my clubhouse.

A new video showed up on the official Poptropica TikTok account, but it also made an appearance in Pop’s latest Instagram story. This new video highlights some of the more problematic elements of our favorite villains, particularly the fact that they all share kidnapping tendencies. Here are a few stills as an example.

Last and certainly not least, Golden Wolf returned to the Creators’ Blog to share more of her art. In her latest guest post, GW showcased fan art of myself, PHB founder Slanted Fish, and fellow writer Smart Icicle! Thank you so much, Golden Wolf! โค๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐโค๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ

GW also mentioned that, every month, she will draw an anime character as a Poptropican and share it on her future guest posts. As an example, she drew Sakura Haruno from Naruto, which was featured in Poptropica’s July Costume Contest video compilation. Which anime character do you want to see drawn in the Poptropica style?

That’s all I have for you today. What do you think the new mini quest will be about? Which villains should be called out next? Let us know in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Island Flash-backs

Island Flash-back: Poptropolis Games ๐Ÿ…

The COVID-19 pandemic may have cancelled many events, but better late than never on the recent 2020 Tokyo Olympics! Its return makes this next Island Flash-back quite appropriate for the sportful season…

Poptropolis Games!!

An official poster made for the island’s re-release

From a fandom standpoint, this island doesn’t seem to be as well-known or well-loved on the surface. There’s little fanart of characters or scenes compared to others such as Counterfeit or Monster Carnival. But look a little deeper and you will see how much this island has incorporated itself into fandom culture and events!

Even after disappearing from the official game, fans continue to identify themselves by the Poptropolis Tribes. A year ago, the PHB hosted the 2020 Tribal Tournament, in which community members could win points for their respective tribes!

Another noteworthy thing is the music: the Poptropolis theme is easily one of my favorites from the game. Hear it below, and more on the PHB’s Behind the Scenes page! (You can also hear it on composer Jeff Heim’s “Poptropica Demo Reel 1” starting at about 43 seconds.)

A bit of trivia for those who were not playing during or before 2012: This island was originally released as a “classic” island with no sound, and came out in June of that year, timed near the London Olympics. To many a player’s surprise, the island “sank” and was removed in early 2013, but eventually was “risen” after an event that encouraged players to help “dig up the games.”

So let’s dig up the games again! Poptropolis Games and other classic islands were rendered unplayable in the Flash-Haxe transition, but it should not go to waste! Let the Creators know what you appreciate about the island to encourage them to preserve it!

Until September (and Poptropica’s birthday)!
