Hello Poptropicans! We have a bit of store-related news, as well as some more fanart features on Instagram and the August costume contest!
Naturally with the Olympics hype there is bound to be some sports-related goods up, and this month in the Poptropica Store is the new Speedy Cycler costume. There are also several classic costumes and more recent ones, including the Spring Floral Dress, Barbarian Warrior, and the epic Acidic Dinosaur!!! 🦖
The Creators also included a reference to a certain… let’s just say a speedy cycling incident in their blog post.
On the subject of costumes, the Monthly Costume Contest has returned for August! So, if you ever get a good idea that you would like to see in-game, don’t be afraid to show off your creativity! It’s quite epic to see fan-made creations in game, and it’s always good to practice your drawing and design skills!
To conclude, here are four fantastic fanarts shared on the Creators’ Instagram stories. We have one very impressive Pop OC, and three great colored pages from the Poptropica fan-produced coloring book!
Do any of you plan to enter the costume contest, perhaps to make more giant epic dinosaurs for me to review? Let us know!
Howdy Poptropicans! It’s LJ here with a couple news and updates.
So Poptropica is on TikTok now (@poptropicacreator)… interesting. I’m wondering what they’re going to share other than what we already see on Instagram or the Creators’ Blog. Perhaps some nostalgic content? They announced their arrival to TikTok on their Instagram story with a slideshow of scenes from old islands:
Update: This video later became their first TikTok post, including a slightly chipper voice reading out the text shown on-screen. (Thanks to paris for the news!) The text reads: “If you know, you know. 2000’s kids definitely remember. Poptropica is still putting out new islands!!”
Next, another week has passed which means there a few new items on sale at Adventure Outfitters including a couple of classic costumes like the Rock Star and Little Demon. You can see the newly available items indicated below:
In more exciting news, Fairytale Island is practically here! The highly anticipated Dream Island contest winner launches for all players tomorrow (April 22)! I hope the creators will bring back the World of Champions map. I really liked that feature because it was cool to see where you ranked in terms of how fast you were able to beat the quest.
Hello, everyone! We’ll be checking out one magical advertisement, two wild prizes, three festive accessories, and four creative illustrations. But enough counting, let’s get reporting!
We have a new ad game for the Apple Original film “Wolfwalkers.” To start your adventure, go inside the tree and talk to apprentice hunter Robyn. You have three minutes to explore a dark woodland maze and hunt seven wolves as well as one wolfwalker (a human who can turn into a wolf). When the creatures pop out of their hiding places, walk over to them to capture them.
Once you find all eight creatures, you will be rewarded with the Wolf Follower and the Wolf Transformation. In order to transform, equip the Wolf Transformation item and press the spacebar to (temporarily) become a wolf.
We received a tip from PHB reader PercyJackson1010, who told us that members have received three new holiday items for their pets: Red Plaid Scarf, Reindeer Antlers, and Cozy Sweater. How could we have missed these adorably festive outfits!?
Hey Poptropicans! The Poptropica Creators have been on a roll lately with their social media, bringing us throwbacks, fun facts, and even a splash of magnanimity! Let’s pop in and take a look.
The Poptropica Creators’ Blog and Instagram spotlighted Jeff Kinney — the man who started Poptropica, yet is better known as the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series — and invited fans to “let Mr. Kinney know how much Poptropica means to everyone” by sharing Poptropica memories that they promise they’ll share on social media and even with Mr. Kinney himself! You can create fan art, write letters, make videos, and more with the hashtag #ThanksKinney so the Creators can see.
On Instagram, the PHB (we’re @poptropicahare) asked if Jeff Kinney still gets involved with Poptropica’s development. The Creators liked the comment, but didn’t answer. Guess we’ll take that as a no…?
Other fans have been wondering about the founder’s silence about the game he created as well. In 2018, the PHB published a guest post that touches on Mr. Kinney’s deep investment into Wimpy Kid at the expense of leaving Poptropica behind. Even if he doesn’t come back to Poptropica, we hope his vision for the game can remain.
Still, #ThanksKinney for starting it all! And if you have Poptropica memories or creations to share, the deadline is September 20 (Sunday).
The Creators have been active on Instagram with two new stories featuring fan posts: one an animation of a dancing Binary Bard from @neon.bug, the other a fun fact about Monster Carnival characters from @happyclonetrooper. By the way, for more Poptropica fun facts, check out the trivia section at the end of all our PHB island guides!
Oh, and there’s more from Instagram: in an unusual act of spontaneous generosity, the Creators also reached out to Dimension Bros, the YouTuber duo behind Poptropica Month, to offer them free memberships! Here’s Theo’s first reaction of experiencing the Poptropica heavens open with access to newly unlocked features, including thousands of bonus credits to spend in the stores:
Theo also shared with the PHB that the gifted membership doesn’t expire until December 31, 2022 according to his account settings—which adds up to about 2 years and 4 months! That’s literally impossible for us regular plebs to attain, not counting auto-renewals, since you can only buy up to a year of membership at once.
This also seems to be the first time the Creators have ever given out free memberships outside of people winning their (and occasionally the PHB’s) contests. Pretty cool—hey Creators, want to hook us up too? 😉
In other news, as you may have noticed, the PHB website has a new look! Our previous theme from WordPress (which is the blogging platform we use) has been retired, so to keep things running for future updates, we’ve switched over to a new theme called Dara.
It may take a little getting used to, but we’ve tried to find one with similar elements to the previous. This new theme comes with bigger fonts and easy access to the PHB’s socials via the buttons on top, so we hope you’ll come to love it like we do!
And finally, after 8 days of tasks, achievements, and recycled gameplay, the activities on Paradise Island have come to a stop—at least for now. If you’ve made it past the day with the PoptropiCon “festival,” future days simply consist of logging in for daily credit rewards, which you can use to decorate your island, home, pets, or character.
With Poptropica’s birthday month in full swing, there’s plenty going on in the fandom these days! Join in on creating and/or watching Poptropica Month videos, party with Dr. Beev stans next week, make something mask-related for Community Creations, and of course, give a #ThanksKinney for making this all possible. Pop on, Poptropicans. 🎉
Hey Poptropicans! It’s Dr. Fish—uh, Slanted Hare—uhh, whatever; somebody with a funky animal name and honorific that only #RealPoptropicans would understand.
For those of you on the ‘gram, you might like to know that the PHB is now on Instagram, too! Well, sort of. We’re letting our fluffy friend Dr. Hare run the show:
Dr. Harvey Hare, as any #RealPoptropican can tell from the profile, holds a PhB degree in Poptropica help, so I daresay he’s qualified to post his hare-y selfies while offering Poptropica updates and other tidbits on our new PHB feed. Plus, he just won “Best Poptropica Worlds Character” in this year’s Poppies, and he’s pretty proud of the fact!
In other events… while enjoying some good old Poptropica Multiverse at the Poppies party last weekend, I came across something a little odd… are you seeing it, too?
Ads for Poptropica…while playing Poptropica! And not just one, or two, but three of them! Now I’m not sure whether this is desperate, or sad, or funny, or perhaps a mixture of all three… but it does seem rather excessive.
Anyway, these are the latest shenanigans on Poptropica. Let us know what you think in the comments, follow us @PoptropicaHare on insta, and as always, keep on popping!
