Happy October! It’s finally that time again… doesn’t feel the slightest bit close to fall in my desert, but still the spooky season is near!
Autumn is a major source of inspiration for many creatives, thanks to its beautiful foliage and harvest seasons. Some of you may remember my Poptober drawing challenge from 2020. I’m here to announce an updated one for 2022, still with daily prompts to inspire your art.
There are zero rules to this challenge. Any medium is totally fine, and you can interpret the prompts however you wish. If you’re swamped with projects or short on time, feel free to just do whichever days you’d like, or do a prompt for each week!
Speaking of drawings, maybe you can find some inspiration for your creative endeavors from the latest fan art features from Poptropica’s Instagram stories, at least for fall decorating… 🍁
Henlo, Poptropicans! I’m happy to announce a special upcoming PHB post: an interview with former Pop Creator, Mitch Krpata!
While the PHB has covered and even hosted interviews with this senior story developer in the past, this time we’re reconnecting with ol’ Captain Crawfish to talk about the development process for Poptropica. And you’re invited to join!
In the comments of this post, bring your unanswered questions regarding the stories and characters of past islands, pertaining to content made before 2018 (when Mitch departed the team). This interview will not cover the current state of the game, and Mitch cannot speak for the current team. That being said, ask away!
‘Allo Poptropicans! I am back and so is the Baron’s Airship, with 24 Carrot magic in the air~
Hop aboard and grab the most recent costume contest winner: the De-Man by Striped Thunder. (It’s free as always.) Remember these contests are held monthly, so there’s always a chance for you to join!
On the other side of the Cabin of Curiosities, there is also some memorabilia released straight from 24 Carrot Island. If any of you want to decorate your clubhouse like that classic island, now is your chance! The full set includes the Carrot King Diner’s Booth (50 credits), Table (50), Hanging Lamp (50), Salt-n-Pepper Shakers (10 credits), Exit Sign (50), and Carrot King Sign (100). 🥕
Also off to the side, you can grab the returning Gothic Cheerleadercostume for 100 credits. Dark yet alluring.
This includes a returning Leprechaun Costume and several green furnishing items for your clubhouse. Does the “wear green” rule count in Pop if your home is decked out in it? 🤔 You can also opt for the Mardi Gras JesterCostume which technically has some green.
Also, here is a whole paragraph just for that lion plush because it is so cute. I’d want one IRL. 🦁
March member gifts have also arrived, sprouting a Flower Crown, Crazy Bee Follower, and Flower Bow. Perhaps Poptropica could have a prettier and less deadly Hunger Games in the future.
The official Instagram also shared more memes, art, and mixes of the two, including my own piece remembering the classic Astro-Knights Island (soon to have its release anniversary in April)!
And that’s all! I’ll get back to working on that Mordred piece now. Do you have any cute or cool ideas for future members’ gifts? And how are you going to “go green” on March 17? ☘️
Until my next news update, The Villain Saga post, or Astro-Knights ramble — see you around.
The 12 Days of Member Gifts is reaching its end, so let’s highlight some new exclusive winter wear. We know that players received Crystal Couture on Day 8; however, unbeknownst to us, pets also received a matching shawl that day. Day 9 brought on the Cabin Cozy PJs. Members got the Snowy Supremeand Stay Frosty outfits on Day 10, and their pets got a red Winter Outfit on Day 11.
Let’s wrap up this post with a short and sweet edition of Fan Art Features. Pop’s latest batch of Instagram stories spotlights two OCs and a character from the classic S.O.S. Island.
That’s all for now. Any predictions for the upcoming Grapple-Pap mini quest? What do you think of the new member gifts? What will this year’s final member gift be? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Hear ye, hear ye! We will soon be returning to the fantastical world of Fairytale Island in the upcoming side quest: Rumpel’s Challenge!
The Creators’ announcement goes on to explain that the quest will continue the island’s story and answer some of our burning questions. The promise of tying loose ends reminds us of the Fairytale Fanfic Contest, in which fans wrote their own endings to Fairytale Island. How closely will the official tale match fanfiction? We’ll have to wait and see.
However, this story has a dark twist: only members can take on Rumpel’s challenge. This news may remind some players of Poptropica’s members-only bonus quests, which were extra quests added to the endings of islands during the early 2010s. It’s disappointing that not everyone will be able to end Fairytale Island on a satisfying note. We can only wish that the Creators will eventually give every player the chance to finish the tale…
To tide us over until the release, the Creators graced us with some concept sketches for a new character! The image name is Queen Ideas_2, so it looks like we’ll be meeting the queen of Fairytale Island! Judging by the art shown below, she appears to be regal ruler who loves cats and knows how to use a sword. She also has a curly updo similar to Cinderella, so could they be related? Where was she during the main story? Theorize away, Poptropicans!
But wait! We have more news for you, though prepare to feel some déjà vu.
Some of you may have already played the ad game for My Little Pony: A New Generation. In a surprising development, there is now a second My Little Pony ad on Poptropica! It’s not often that Poptropica hosts two separate ads for the same product at the same time. There is no game in this particular ad, though. All you need to do is watch the trailer to win two new pony prizes: the Zipp Outfit and the Hitch Outfit.
Here’s a neat tidbit about these prizes: if you press the spacebar while equipping one of the prizes, that respective pony’s cutie mark will pop up on screen for a second. Stop by both ad spots and win all five prizes, one for each of Gen 5’s Mane 5. Gotta befriend em’ all! 💫🧶🛡️🎤⚡️
The official Poptropica Instagram account shared eight pieces of fan art in yesterday’s stories. Among them were spooky and silly entries for the now closed costume contest, and they all look like they could be great additions to the game. There is also art of original characters and airships, as well as some Rumpelstiltskin fan art just in time for the announcement of Rumpel’s challenge.
That’s all for now! Are you looking forward to the follow-up to Fairytale Island? How do you think the tale will end? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
