Get Crazy Cozy and Vote for Vestments ๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Hey, Poptropicans! Let’s take a look at the latest in Pop fall fashion and revisit some contest-winning classics. After that, we’ll check out a special review of Goofball Island as well as some fun fan art features.

With temperatures dropping IRL, Adventure Outfitters is debuting some cozy fashion for both Poptropicans and pets. Players can buy themselves the oversized Cool Autumn outfit for one easy payment of 250 credits. It’s a simple look that goes well with many different accessories such as a pair of glasses. ๐Ÿ‘“

Pets get three new items to match their owners’ outifts. All players can keep their pets warm with the Sweater Buddy sweater and Snug Bean hat, which pair nicely with the Snug Vibes outfit. On the other paw, members and their pets can be extra sweet together with the Slice of Pie costume, which matches the Sweet as Pie costume. These cute and cozy critter costumes cost 75 credits each.

While the Creators are choosing the winner of November’s costume contest, players can vote for which of the previous winning designs should return during the Baron’s next visit! If you missed one of these costumes the first time around, here’s your chance to have it return next month. Head over to the Creators’ Blog and let your voice be heard!

Have you had a chance to play through the newly released Goofball Island? Because we’ve got a special review of the island from none other than Emperor Thirsty Flame himself!

In this Twitter thread, the designer of Goofball Island, who also goes by the name Blank Slayte, talks about being pleasantly surprised by the visuals, the gameplay, and his being immortalized as Goofball Island’s founder. It must be exciting and surreal to become a part of Poptropica history. You can also read about how Thirsty Flame designed Goofball Island in this exclusive PHB interview! ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ๏ธ

By the way, we’re loving how much detail is in the new island. Check out our Goofball Island Guide to see if you caught them all!

Speaking of goofy, only a couple hours remain in the Goofy Clubhouse Challenge. You have until tonight at 8 p.m. PST to submit your hilarious homes to the Pop Creators. Good luck, peculiar Poptropicans!

Last but not least, we have five features from Pop’s latest Instagram stories. This particular batch not only has fan art for the new Goofball Island, but even an NFT meme from the official Coolmath Games account. Make of that what you will.

That’s all for now! What do you think of this week’s Adventure Outfitters update? Which of the 10 winning costumes do you want to see make a comeback? What are your thoughts on Goofball Island? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

The Creators’ Blog also has a new guest post from Invisible Ring, comparing the two Dream Islands that came before Goofball: Arabian Nights (2014) and Fairytale (2021). Catch some Crazy Costumes and Clubhouses ๐Ÿคช๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ

Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s almost time to goof off because Goofball Island, the second 2020 Dream Island winner, will be released in a mere two days! Get silly and get ready to save this colorful island from a monochrome fate! ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ”

To celebrate, Adventure Outfitters stocked up on some new items ranging from stylish to silly. The costume gallery features a new fashionable fall look: the Frosty Flannel. All players can purchase this grey get-up for 250 credits.

In stark contrast to this subdued look, the rest of the store boasts a wide array of wacky articles fitting for the upcoming release of Goofball Island. Our returning items are the various fast food costumes, the autumn clubhouse dรฉcor, and the Pie Pal Follower. There are also three new items: the Rawr-in Hat (100 credits), the Eye See You googly eyes (100 credits), and the Hatters Gonna Hat cuckoo clock hat (250 credits).

Think some goofy gear is enough to build anticipation for Goofball island? Heh hehโ€ฆ WRONG!!! The Pop Creators also invited players to join the Goofy Clubhouse Challenge! Players are tasked with creating the wackiest clubhouse with the only limit being their imaginations and their in-game wallets. The homeowners of the three nuttiest abodes will win an unspecified amount of credits.

Once you’re done decorating, go to the submissions page and enter either a short video of your clubhouse or your account username so the Creators can take a gander themselves. Act fast because this challenge ends on Monday, November 22, at 8pm PST.

While you deck your dwellings with daffy decorations, don’t forget about November’s ongoing costume contest. You can enter your outfit designs until Friday, November 19th, at 8pm PST. Maybe you could design a bonkers costume based on Goofball Island? The possibilities are endless!

Now let’s check out some social media shenanigans! The Creators made a Youtube short all about dressing up our beloved pets, which is appropriately accompanied by “Who Let The Dogs Out” by Baha Men.

Over on Instagram, the Creators shared some more awesome fan content! There’s plenty of cool stuff from Poptropican doodles to Popsona drawings to poppin’ dank memes.

That’s all for now. Are you looking forward to Goofball Island’s release? Do you think it will be a laugh-out-loud joyride or a foolish folly? Will you get into the silly spirit and dress up yourself and your clubhouse? Let us know in the comments below.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Crowning glories of characters in stories ๐Ÿ‘‘

Hey Poptropicans, pop in for the latest in Pop culture! We’ve got Pop stars, boredom busters, Mythology assumptions, and more.

The Pop-arazzi are backโ€”kind of. Poptropica recently put out a tweet comparing two celebs with Pop characters: SNL comedian Pete Davidson as Hades from Mythology and actor Timothรฉe Chalamet as Edgar the carnie from Monster Carnival. See any resemblance?

Over on the Pop Creators’ Blog, new guest writer Golden Crown (who has appeared on the PHB) shares some Poptropica boredom busters! Crown’s tips include winning at all the games, buying everything you can, looking for details (btw, get some good ones in the PHB’s Island Guides trivia), throwing a party (even playing tag!), and taking pictures.

Here on the PHB, we’ve got a list of 101 Boredom Busters you might enjoy as well, though many of them will apply only to the old islands. For more modern ideas, check out Golden Crown’s post! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Beyond dressing up on Poptropica, you can also give your character some flair through drawings! Poptropica’s latest Instagram stories feature some expressive Popsona designs, as well as a call to join the monthly costume contest, which runs until this Friday, November 19.

On TikTok, Poptropica has started a new series called “What your fave Poptropica island tells me about you.” First up: Mythology. If you love this island, you might also love everything else about ancient Greece, the Percy Jackson series, use scifi and fantasy as a form of escapism, and are super into art or a band kid โ€” “either way, you really relate to the burned-out gifted kid stereotype.” Rings true, or just a myth? ๐Ÿ˜œโšก๏ธ

Pop Petition: Stop replacing good features

This is a guest post by Silver Shell. Enjoy!

Hey Poptropicans! Today I’ll be talking to you about how Poptropica should first work on what we players specifically ask for, before jumping onto something else that they only think we might like.

Granted, this one’s a little obvious, but I feel like someone needs to bring it up. Poptropica often makes a ton of new features nowadays, and I feel like most of it is really unnecessary. Specifically, Poptropica seemingly enjoys replacing and changing perfectly good features. I’ll be addressing some of them here.

Not only are most of the new features pretty annoying and inconvenient in my opinion, they also bring up more glitches than the original version had. This is bad for both the players and the creators, since they have to spend even more resources on fixing the glitches, when they could have avoided all this by simply leaving the feature the way it had been. Here are some examples:

A Buggy New Inventory

This one has been brought up a lot. For a long time, Poptropica’s inventory screen has looked similar to the above picture to the right (though the categorization of items with tabs came much later). Earlier this year, it was changed to the one on the left. The original had very few bugs, and there was hardly anything wrong with it, especially once tabs were introduced to help sort through tons of items.

However, once it was changed to the character screen, even more bugs came up. People have been complaining about bugs on the character screen for a long time, but few are fixed. My theory is that the creators hear these complaints, but have already invested so much on changing the inventory setup that they are lacking the resources to fix it.

Loss of the Charming Crate Menu

Remember the crate menu? You’d click on the box in the top corner to open up all the menu options. I know I definitely loved the crate. It was subtle and charming, and it was satisfying to watch your items just spill out across your screen. For another thing, it didn’t take up a lot of space like the new one does.

But when it was changed earlier this year, it was a boring modern 3-lines button. Not very fun at all! Not to mention how much space it takes up when all nine blocks are set out on the screen. I just think there was no real reason to change it. And it’s not like we couldn’t have the original in Haxe, since it had been there in Haxe’s earliest stages. Why did the creators feel the need to change this?

Home Island Refreshed, Again

Some people like this new Home Island, but I have to say, I enjoyed the old one much better. I don’t see any reason in changing it โ€” the creators should stop working on new Home Islands for a change and start working on classic island returns! They’re what we really want.

Speaking of new visuals, I’m also not a big fan of the new animation of characters, but that’s getting off-topica.

With all that in mind, this is my message to the creators: Stop replacing good features, and work on what we players specifically ask for!

The game wouldn’t be much without the players, but in its current state, it barely resembles the Poptropica I used to play. Creators, if you listen to our petitions for old stuff, Poptropica will really improve! So please, stop changing what is fine the way it is, and start working on what we really want โ€” specifically, island adventures.

That’s all for this post. Thanks so much for reading about my ideas for what Poptropica should really focus on!
