Community Creations: September 2021

community-creations-logo

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the September recap for Community Creations! September’s theme was Punk, so be sure to check out all the featured artists (not in any order)!

No clue what’s going on? Go see our intro post.

Top 5 Picks

Copy Cat and Speeding Spike by bunnies_n_bowties

Starting things off with a punch! 👊 These two cool cats are definitely rocking their punk outfits. And those outfits actually come from an outfit meme where fans request an artist to draw characters in specific outfits. Very creative! The fits seem to suit this criminal coupling, right down to the punk piercings and makeup. And I love those dynamic poses! Find her Instagram here and her Tumblr here.

Chaos Club by Lucky Joker

Oooh, now we’re getting into the more spooky side of punk. 💀 As the Poptropica Creators said regarding this work: Gothtropica all the way! The super dark color scheme really lets those neon colors pop. And, of course, it can’t be punk without a little darkness! Who’s your favorite goth-tropican? 👀 Find his Instagram here and DeviantArt here.

Pumpkin Punk by Gentle Dolphin

Hey, doesn’t this outfit feel a little familiar? 🎃 Well it should because it was one of the winners of the Red October Halloween Costume Contest! So get ready to see this pop-tastic punk design in-game soon. Not only is it perfect for September’s theme, but it is also quite appropriate for the fast-approaching spooky season. The Jack-o-Lantern inspired face paint is to die for. Anyone else as excited for Halloween as I am? Find her Instagram here and DeviantArt here.

Villain Fan Girl by BrittScarlet

As if our first three features weren’t punk enough, this submission rocks our socks off. 🤘 Nothing more punk than a villain, after all! The ripped pants, fingerless gloves, dyed hair, and dramatic makeup all scream punk rock. I could definitely see someone wearing this outfit at a concert, which is appropriate since punk culture has such strong ties to music. Keep rocking it! Find her Instagram here.

Betty Jetty in Punk Form by Friendly Feather

Lastly, we have a Betty Jetty piece soaring in. ✈ It seems that the Super Power Island villains really fit our theme, huh? But this rendering stands out because of its ties to Fairy Tale Island as well. Cinder, after all, is basically the punk rock queen of Poptropica. I love seeing this sort of crossover happen in art, and that outfit is definitely on brand for a punk concert. Find the artist in the comments and on Discord.

Honorable Mentions

Now I’m not punking you guys when I say that those submissions rocked. I loved seeing that fiery spirit in all your work! Let’s bring that passion into next month too.

October: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is October’s theme? October’s theme is…

👻 Ghosts & Ghouls! 👻

As we enter spooky season, it is only appropriate that we begin celebrating Halloween immediately. So for this month, you may also want to take inspiration from trends like Inktober or happyclonetrooper’s Pop-tober prompts.

Fear not! There’s so much you can do with this prompt. Ghost Story Island is a good place to start, but you could even make your own ghost costume or your own, well, ghost story fanfic! Take inspiration from Daphne Dreadnought or even the Haunted House mini-quest. As long as your work includes a spooky specter or fearful phantom, it’ll fit with our theme.

And on a similar note, be sure to check out the upcoming PHB’s annual Halloween Costume Contest for more fall fun!

  • Submit: Comment below with a link to whatever you’ve created, email it to the PHB team on our Contact page, OR share it with me (SydVC aka Spotted Dragon) on DeviantArtTwitter, or Discord.
  • Results: Next month, I will feature 5 submissions that stood out to me the most as well as some honorable mentions.
  • Limitations: Just make sure you relate to both the theme and Poptropica (and nothing NSFW or otherwise inappropriate).
  • Due Date: I will take any entries before the end of this month. Submit as many things as you’d like!

I will be sure to let you know I have seen your creation. While quality counts, I’m mainly looking for something to simply catch my eye, so don’t be afraid to join in!

So what are you waiting for? Go make something awesome!

Criminal in the Final?

Ladies and jellybeans,
Tables and chairs.
Cross-eyed mosquitoes
And bald-headed bears!

I welcome thy Poptropicans to take a quick vote for…

Popularity Contest #6: The Final Round!

Before we get to that, let’s take a look at #5’s contestants: Poptropica’s criminals!

D, otherwise known as Vince Graves of Giza 1, Nabooti Island, received 63% of the votes and was declared the winner. Now we see that he has moved onto the finals, along with all the others that were voted for…

I guess it doesn’t pay to lead a life of crime, Vince, because C, a handsome agent at Spy Island’s Headquarters is winning by far, claiming 57% of all votes! Wow! It also proves how popular Nabooti Island is – 2 of its characters are in the Finals! This poll isn’t over yet, though: there’s still a chance for the others to win!

To make things better, the winner of the Finals gets a T-shirt design made of them, the Poptropica Creators say. They will probably be sold on Poptropica’s online Zazzle.com store, “T-shirts & More”!

Want a wall print, Shifty Scorpion?

Note: For these next few posts, the PHB has decided that we will not be giving “credits” because it upsets too many people. If you would like to continue the “credits” system, though, please show us you can handle it by not commenting about a new PCB post after one person has already mentioned it. We are getting a lot of spam recently, all to do with this crediting thing.

Snapshot Sagas: Shifty Scorpion
Welcome to another wild tale from Vlad the Viking as he tells his adventure with Copy Cat and his new buddy Shifty Scorpion! Enjoy:

I was surrounded. A multitude of black and white striped shirts and pale faces were on every side. It was strange though, for they all looked identical! I don’t know how she did it, but she was able to duplicate herself over and over again.

“COPY CAT!” The shout rang out down the street. She turned, as did all of her other clones. They all seemed to jump in unison, like the waves of the sea as they passed Shark Tooth Island. Almost instantly, a chorus of screeches erupted from the crowd that nearly shattered the lens of my poor camera.

“RATS!” she screamed, as the little beasts scurried around her feet. A man was off in the distance, laughing as he watched his army of rodents torment all of the copies of his victim. Thanks to their little skirmish, I was able to get away without too much trouble.

I walked into the newspaper building that was nearby. I had been there before, so it was nice returning to a familiar place. Here I met Shifty Scorpion. He was shifty indeed! Trying to get a photo of him was terribly difficult, but I had to photograph his interesting costume and share it with all of you!

Vlad also adds, “Keep your eyes open! You could be the next Poptropican featured on Snapshot Sagas!”

Poptropica Life Size Wall PrintsPoptropica Life Size Wall Prints
Yay! Poptropica has released some more merchandise – life size wall prints! These are huge stickers that you can stick on your bedroom wall. There’s a new widget on the right side of the Poptropica Creators’ Blog titled “Poptropica Life Size Wall Prints” and it shows a picture of a boy posing in front of a wall with a big Ned Noodlehead picture on it! Bonus Items

Goofy glasses bonus!

Edit: The goofy glasses are gone from Super Power now, but you can still get them from Spy Island’s glasses shop.

New bonus item! This time it’s a pair of goofy glasses. Here’s how to get them:

  1. Go to Super Power Island.
  2. On Super Power Island, go to the City Park, move all the way to the right and enter the bathroom. In the bathroom, enter the Sewer Room by clicking on the manhole.
  3. At the Sewer Room, move to the left side until you see a red wheel. Click on it, and the water level will go lower.
  4. Now move all the way to the left again. You should see a pair of goofy glasses floating in front of the wall. Reach for it, or click on it, to get it! The word “BONUS” will appear for a second in gold letters. You will now be wearing the goofy glasses!
  5. If you can fly, activate your flying power. All you have to do is fly to the north-east direction until you can’t move anymore. Just click to go up and you will be brought back to the bathroom. Click on the door to go back to the City Park.

Otherwise, to exit, look for a red wheel and turn it. (The red wheel should be on the very right side. Go to the right side, and jump on the 3 brick walls there to make your way to the red wheel.) The water level will rise.

Now go to the left, until you see another red wheel. Turn it, and the water level will rise again. Now you have to move to the left again, until you see another red wheel. Turn it and the water level should start rising again. Next, move all the way to the right, jump onto the brick wall at the top, and press to “Go up”. Enjoy your goofy glasses!
