10 Years of Poppies: Looking Back 👀🏆

Hello, Poppie-tropicans! 🌟

If you’ve been around for a while, you may know about this beloved tradition here on the Poptropica Help Blog: the Poppies, our annual Poptropica fan awards. Since 2015, we’ve been inviting the community to vote for their top Pop picks every July, marking the PHB’s birthday as well. Time flies, and we’ve now celebrated 10 Poppies! 🥳🔟✨

So we thought we’d take a look back at the past decade of Poppies shenanigans… starting with the Poptropica parties! 🎉🎈At the end of each awards season, we’d always go out with a bang by coming dressed to impress in multiplayer rooms on Poptropica and hanging out on our Discord server, the PHC. Check out the recap photos from over the years!

But there’s more to the picture-perfect memories! Every year, the PHB team would dress up for the Poppies, and one of our team members would create artwork that would serve as the event’s visual for that year. 🖌️🖼️ Enjoy our many designs from the decade! (Click to enlarge.)

Next, taking the Pop art to a whole new level are all the top pieces voted as winners of the annual Best Fan Art award category. 🎨🏆 Feast your eyes on the talent that lies within our fandom — they’re truly incredible!

And now for some special highlights! ✨🏆 Below is a selection of some of our favorite award categories from over the years, and the winners. You can click on the years to check out the yearly recaps to find more award categories, watch the awards shows, and more! 👀

Just for fun, here are a few more iconic moments from the past decade of Poppies. Good times! Thank you, truly, for being part of the ride. 🎈

That’s a wrap for our recap on 10 Years of Poppies! How many of them did you join in on? What are some of your favorite Poppies memories? We’d love to hear from you in the comments. 🩵

Thanks for joining us on the blue carpet, and keep on poppin’ on! ✨

Fanfic: The Black Hare, Part 2

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Pink Star. Enjoy!

High on the Hog: Eat, drink, and be merry.

THE BLACK HARE, Part 2

(Continued from Part 1 here)

I combed my hair. (Which is a near impossible task, since I have Mom (Black Widow)’s hair.) I looked into the mirror and said, “I can do this… I can do this… I can do-”

I heard Dad (Dr. Hare) calling me. “COMING!!!”

I trudged to the kitchen. Mom and Dad started singing the birthday song. I thought about my wish for a while. ‘Mom and Dad will understand that I’m good, right?’ I thought. ‘Or should I not trust them…? After all, they ARE villains… Should I wish for them to understand? But I also wanna be more than good, I wanna be a hero! So should I wish to become a hero?’

“Hurry up, sweetie!”

‘Iwishtobecomeahero!’ I thought quickly. I blew out all 13 candles.

“Good job sweetie!” Mom said. “Now it’s time to eat the cake before the pizza! Just like you asked!” (I know. Only little kids eat cake before pizza. But it’s my birthday, and who doesn’t want cake before pizza?!)

Mom and Dad talked about what my first crime would be now that I was an official villain. I bit my tongue at first, but finally blurted, “I DON’T WANNA BE A VILLAIN!”

Ask Poptropica Siri #14: Poppies Edition

Ask Poptropica Siri is a Q&A segment here on the PHB where you, dear readers, are invited to send in your Poptropica questions to have them answered with all the wisdom you can expect from a Smart Icicle.

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! Welcome back to Ask Poptropica Siri, with a twist! In celebration of the recent Poppies Awards and the PHB’s Sweet 16, I’ve decided to make this round Poppies-themed. Let’s roll!

What’s your favorite Poppies category from your tenure as a PHB staff writer ~Magic Poptropican

This is a good question! Though I wasn’t active until 2021, I would have to say the Best Fan Art category is my favorite. I really like looking at the different art styles that the Poptropica community has, and it just blows my mind to see the masterpieces shown in the Poppies.

Poptropica’s Sweet 16 Collage” by PHB readers, arranged by Gentle Dolphin (Poppies 2024 winner)

Other top categories I love are Best Fanfiction and, new this year, Best Animation/Animatic. I have always loved animatics, including fun ones like Gentle Dolphin’s “Who Broke the PHB’s Coffeepot?“). (Outside of Pop, EverenArt’s masterpieces comes to mind.)

This question gives me a nice nostalgia, as I reflect on joining the Pop community as a freshman coming into high school just a few years ago. I’m really grateful to have joined the PHB team because it really started my growth as a writer, and I’m happy to be part of this community.

“Time to Fly Back Home” by Bunnies-N-Bowties (Poppies 2023 winner)

Did you agree with the winners of the Poppies this year? ~Hamburger Hamburger

There were a few nominees that I wish came in 1st place, but otherwise I would say for the most part, yes! I was also happy co-hosting the Poppies this year with fellow PHB staffer, Smart Bubbles. In previous years, I was busy with other things IRL and couldn’t participate much. Though I missed the nomination round this year, I want to say congratulations to the winners of this year’s Poppies!

What other potential nominees would you have liked to see, but didn’t happen? ~Hamburger Hamburger

Most of the winners are ones I would’ve nominated, but one missed nominee I want to give a spotlight to is “The Bizarre Lore of Poptropica” by Choopo for Best Fan Video (mild language warning). As a fan of the Theorists channels (maybe a future Pop-over 😉), I am all in for game lore! I’m curious to hear from you, where would this video place in the Poppies if it made it to the voting round?

Bringing Mighty Action Force cards to life: 4-Player Edition 💥🃏

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible Ring. Enjoy!

It’s a bird? It’s a plane?  No, it’s me! Invisible Ring, creator of the REAL-LIFE Mighty Action Force card game, has RETURNED!

That’s right, readers! This Poptropican was but a fellow Mighty Action Force fan, who emerged from PoptropiCon Island and forged her OWN Mighty Action Force card game that she could play in real life, anytime and anywhere she wanted… then shared it with the PHB online, so that EVERYONE can print out and play their own Mighty Action Force game, too. (There’s also an Astro-Knights edition!)

But she had not yet shared ALL of her Mighty Action Force games, which brings us to the here and now. If you’re already acquainted with these games, then you may be looking for a bigger challenge. Heck, you may even be itching to play this game with more than one player at a time. And that is where the 4-PLAYER Mighty Action Force game comes in! Download below:

Packed with new cards, new rules, and new game variations, this third and final edition of my real-live MAF series not only provides a new mighty challenge but brings all other Mighty Action Force games together — perfect for parties and family fun!

Some assembly required. This offer is invalid where prohibited, some restrictions may apply, batteries not included.

Check out the demo of the multiplayer game in action:

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below. Otherwise, enjoy the Mighty Action Force games!

Hope you enjoyed this guest post by Invisible Ring. If you did, you might also enjoy the previous posts for the games in this series: Bringing Mighty Action Force to life and the Astro-Knights edition.
