Contests, Poptropolis Games Island, Tribes

The torch has been lit for the 2020 PHB Tribal Tournament! ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ”ฅ

Welcome, Poptropicans, to the 2020 PHB Tribal Tournament! Can you believe it’s been 4 years since the last one? Although the Tokyo Olympic Games that were set to take place this year have been postponed until 2021, that doesn’t mean we can’t compete head-to-head… in Poptropica!

Here;s how this works: You pick a tribe (one of the 8 tribes from Poptropolis Games Island), then check the PHB for our competitions (we’ll have a new one each week this month) and compete for points for your tribe… and maybe even a Poptropica membership for yourself!

The Tribes of Poptropica, from left to right, top to bottom: Flying Squid, Wildfire, Yellowjackets, Pathfinders, Black Flags, Nightcrawlers, Seraphim, Nanobots. Pick wisely, because in this tournament, you can’t switch sides!

It’s more fun on Discord

Throughout the tournament, you can meet and hang out with your fellow tribe-mates (and competitors) through our kid-friendly, moderated Discord server, the PHC (Poptropica Help Chat). It’s free, quick, and easy to join!

On the PHC, we’ll have special chat channels for each tribeโ€”to join yours, simply message a PHC staff member (PHB staff, PHC overlords, and guardians) to request the role of your chosen tribe and someone will add you in as soon as possible. No one outside your tribe can see your tribe’s channel besides PHC staff. You can use it to talk with new friends about anything from sharing your entries to the competitions to your ideal breakfast of champions!

Plus, each tribe will have a representative (mostly PHB staff) who you can message anytime with questions or just to have a friendly face who’s on your side in the tribal games. These are the reps for each tribe:

  • ๐Ÿด Black Flags โ€“ Noveen, our Poppies Popular Poptropican of the Year
  • ๐Ÿฆ‘ Flying Squid โ€“ Sporty Boa
  • ๐Ÿค– Nanobots โ€“ Spotted Dragon
  • ๐Ÿ› Nightcrawlers โ€“ Slanted Fish
  • ๐Ÿงญ Pathfinders โ€“ Lucky Joker
  • ๐Ÿ‘ผ Seraphim โ€“ Gentle Dolphin
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Wildfire โ€“ Fierce Flyer
  • ๐Ÿ Yellowjackets โ€“ Silver Wolf, a former PHB author

You can find the PHC by going to the Community tab in the PHB menu, and once you’re in, the server will stay with your Discord account.

Now allow us to announce… the Creative Competitors round!

Round 1: Creative Competitors

It’s time to rally up some spirit and get artsy! To compete in Creative Competitors, all you have to do is create Poptropica fan art and share it with us. The best way to do that is to post it to your tribe’s channel on the PHC, but you can also contact us in other ways.

Each creation will be worth 10 points, so the more you send in, the more you’ll earn for your tribe! Acceptable art forms include:

  • Visual pieces (can be traditional or digital)
  • Written pieces (a fan fiction, a cheer, poem, song, etc.)
  • In-game costumes (see what you can do with your tribe’s colors!)

This round will transpire throughout the entire tournament โ€” but don’t hesitate to start creating now! Incidentally, our theme for Community Creations this month is also Tribes, so if you can create something tribe-inspired, you’ll be entering two contests in one!

๐ŸŒŸ As we mentioned earlier, yes, you can win a membership! In each round, we’ll be picking an MVP (Most Valuable Player) whose participation we think stands out most, to win a one-month Poptropica membership. It could be you! ๐ŸŒŸ

Many of you expressed a hankering for more community activities at the Poppies last week, so we hope you’ll have just as much fun participating in this quadrennial event. Stay tuned, because there’s more to come!

The next round (which has yet to be announced) will commence next week on Monday, August 10. You won’t want to miss it! But right now…

๐Ÿน Let the Games begin! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Pop Petition: Bring Tribes to Worlds!

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Poptropica community member MT, wherein the idea of bringing Poptropica Tribes to Worlds is discussed. Enjoy!)

Pop Petition Header

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! I am honored to speak to all of you today. Let me introduce myself. Call me MT: short for Moody Tuna, and I’m notย thisย MT.

As you may or may not know, Poptropica is a map made by the “Creators”, a group of psychiatristsย psychologistsย physiatristsย physiologists psychicsย that can tell the future (because they create it). They created the past to ensure the future, and they succeeded. But as the Poptropica graphic novelsย will show you, Octavian has been messing with the timeline for the sake of saving his loved one. But there’s another mystery about the Poptropica timeline: when did the tribes form?

Tribes came to Poptropica for the ancientย Poptropolis Games, but tribes had already been existing for a time. The tribal system has also separated Poptropicans and given us awesome common rooms. So, it was pretty awesome in Poptropica Original, and I’d love to see the concept continue in the newer Poptropica Worlds, especially with more expansions on story. Of course, having tribes will require jerseys and running shorts, and that, of course, will show those hideous knees.ย *shudder*

Still, choosing a tribe would be a great way for Poptropicans to show a bit of personality to their friends, and unite Poptropicans in someย friendly competition.

poptropolisgames3
Spear me the details.

As we know, islands on Worlds each get their own museum, and now I’m wondering out loud what the museum would display if there was one for a remastered Poptropolis Games. Of course, it should talk about the ancient warrior in the members’ bonus quest, as well as the sinking and resurfacing of the island.

And what about the common rooms?ย We have yet to see an actual common room in Worlds, even though the Creators have talked about bringing multi-player features to Worlds. One of theย originalย picture previewsย for Worlds even says “Challenge your friends!” Well, I think it’d be cool if we had a common room on our Home Island that corresponded to the tribe we were in. But what do you think?

I have to go, soโ€ฆย BAM!!ย *a golden robot looms closer, red eyes gleaming with delight*ย “Mwahahahaha!!”

The end?!?!?

Hope you enjoyed thisย guest postย by MT!

Merchandise, Poptropolis Games Island, Tribes

Diggin’ up a sale, this Halloween!

Hey guys, BT here. (I KNOW IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU READ MY TEXT. >:) )

Now, we know about Poptropolis’s return, right? Well, the Creators have created a little special event (over on Poptropolis Games Island on the Map) where we are challenged to navigate the ocean depths so many times and hit the bottom as many times as you can, without getting eaten by a shark that is.

And whichever Tribe collects the most dirt will have something special on the Main Street once the island resurfaces… I’ve yet to understand what that is, yet .-. .

poptropolis

Well well, this’ll be interesting… wonder which tribe is gonna win? Please, help me pull this off, my fellow Black Flags…

Even this guy knows that everything is on the blogs…

Anyways, in other news, there is a sale in the Poptropica Shop! If you want a shirt with a Poptropican on it, you can get a 30% off discount when you enterย the code FALL30 as a promotional code, until November 5th!

Tired of digging underwater? Well, if you haven’t already, here’s a friendly reminder to enter your spooky Halloween costume in the PHB’s 5th annual Halloween Competition! Check it out!

Well, that is about it… dig on, peeps!

Tribes, Web Development, Zomberry Island

Zomberrified Updates

That’s right. I just said ‘zomberrified’. u mad bro?

So, we’ve just learned that the totally awesome (and yet slightly ominous) island is called Zomberry Island.ย The Creators have interested us by releasing two awesome posters.

(See that? Released by Mews Corp, rated P for Poptropica? I do believe this is interesting.)

And not only do we get these posters, but we also get the fantastic new… common rooms! That’s right, remember the innuendos and outuendos floating around about the tribe common rooms? Well, they’re confirmed now!

You just need to go to your epic profile on Poptropica and ‘Join Room’! This’ll take you to your secret hideout where you’ll meet with other tribesmates. Pathfinders, hope to see you there!

Also, remember that these common rooms are special in more than one way; they’re interactive. Hunt around the vast rooms to see what you can interact with, besides your friends! ๐Ÿ˜€

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island, Tribes

Always Golden

Plot twist: I’m alive! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Bet you weren’t expecting that one.

So, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has only been released for just over a day, and so many Poptropicans have already rushed through the gates, waving your Golden Ticket around yelling “I’M IN! I’M IN!”

Or at least most of you did. Some of you only yelled “I’M IN!” once.

Either way, whether you’re in or out, there are some who are undeniably quick and zip through islands. It requires speed, strength, knowledge, and a bag of candy.

Without further ado, let us congratulate those who stayed golden throughout the whole island and finished it the quickest! Put your hands together (even if they’re covered in chocolate) for…

*drumroll*

1. Dizzy Leopard
of the Flying Squid

(What did I say about the candy? Everyone loves it!)

2. Zippy Leopard
of the Flying Squid

(I want those glasses. Now.)

3. Little Owl
of the Wildfire

(I also want those glasses. Poptropicans always look good in glasses. And candy.)

4. Angry Claw
of the Nanobots

(I want those headphones. Then we can all listen to music that suits the mood for each part of the island. Pile on the suspense!)

5. Smart Eagle
of the Pathfinders

(Pathfinders; a fellow tribesmate. Well done, Smart Eagle!)

6. Green Seal
of the Seraphim

(It’s impossible to not be one of the first with an epic name like that. Green and gold go good together.)

7. Trusty Grape
of the Black Flags

(Oh, that’s one of the coolest hairstyles I’ve ever seen! And the medallion looks simply amazing!)

8. Young Clown
of the Nanobots

(I really do love the medallion. The way Young Clown is wearing it allows us to see the red and white striped design of the medallion!)

9. Perfect Cactus
of the Pathfinders

(Perfect Cactuses wouldbe first. Congrats!)

10. Invisible Axe
of the Flying Squid

(That is just the most awesomely-bizarre collection of clothing.)

And that concludes our ten first finishers! I do hope many of you cross the finish line soon, to join the elite! Fellow Poptropicans, let us rejoicify by staying golden always and eating candy.

P.S. For the holidays, ask for that new D.S. game. It looks amazifyingly good.
