Carts outside, shop inside, and wonder women dockside 🛒👩‍💻

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish with a few bits of news, most relating to the new Home Island in one way or another. Let’s pop in and see!

First, the countlessly redesigned Home Island has now rolled out its latest update to all players, so you can find it the next time you log in.

In case you missed it, check out our Home Island Guide for the lowdown on the side-quest featuring Xavier the self-statue-stealer!

There’s something else new to this Home update, though: carts on the side. Left of the new store building, you’ll find either a pet cart (which takes you to the pet shop interface) or Herc’s snack truck manned by Aeolus, keeper of the winds, who apparently owes Zeus money. Accepting the god’s offer of a bite will take you to Mythology Island.

You’ve seen Adventure Outfitters, the rebranded store building, but it’s not just about the treasure chest aesthetic on the outside. It’s going to get a shiny new interior too! Check out the sneak peeks from the Creators’ Blog (peep the ice skull from the old Pathfinders tribe common room, as well as displays of the reversible octopus and more):

Plus, it’s the start of another week, which means another store rotation! In addition to stuff featured last week, we have a new Prom Princess costume and several more suit-ups. The Creators also really emphasized that tons of stuff is available for non-members this time (11 out of 14 costumes!), which is quite the improvement from before.

Last but not least, this past Monday, March 8 was International Women’s Day! To celebrate, the Pop Creators posted a tribute to our girl Amelia, whom you might know from Home Island (one of the constants in all its remodels). She’s based on a real life icon: Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean back in 1932.

We have Amelia be the first person everyone meets in Poptropica because she was a true adventurer! She was smart, capable, brave, and willing to try things no one had ever done before.

Of course, Amelia is far from the only woman worth celebrating in Poptropica! Here are a few pieces of fan art from the community of various iconic, female-identifying Poptropicans:

Considering the world’s male-dominated past (and sometimes present), it’s especially important to highlight the achievements and capabilities of women. For all the girls out there, you’re capable of greatness! Let us all take notice, regardless of our gender. 💃🏽💪

That’s it for this post. Share your thoughts in the comments and on the PHC. As always, keep on popping on!

Home Island, Store

Current mood: cloudy with a chance of reversible octopus 🌥

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish here with a store update!

Not all of the items are pictured below, as most are already familiar from previous store rotations. But we also have a few new things in the mix:

In pranks, there’s a new Leprechaun Wand, which pairs well with the returning Leprechaun costume for St. Patrick’s Day this month. 🍀

Among the miscellaneous items, we find a new toy: the Reversible Octopus. It’s a handheld item, and when you press space bar, it flips to one of its two modes, angry red or happy yellow! 🐙

And in powers, you can now find Mood Clouds, which also comes in two modes: cheery white or melancholic gray. Whichever cloud you pick, it follows you above your head. (There’s me with a floating cloud on the new SpongeBob Island — stay tuned for that update!)

Also, over on Home Island (the snowy version), I discovered a stage with arcade games. Talking to the character standing by will allow you to choose to go to the actual arcade, although the Blast-off Arcade is still on Home Island. But perhaps this is being tested for the new Home Island, which doesn’t have the arcade building? 🤔

Ishmael (of SOS Island), is that you?

Anyway, you unfortunately don’t get to play “Tight Shot” and “Rumble Quake” (which seem to be art from PoptropiCon), and “Bot Breaker” comes from American Girl: Courtney’s Island, a former ad space. Just the usual arcade games in the arcade!

That’s it for this post. Keep on popping on, Poptropicans! ✌️

Home Island

Adventurers outfitted on a new Home Island

Hey Poptropicans, a new Home Island is on its way! 🏡

Yup, never mind that this base stop has been redesigned multiple times in the past several years. The latest Home Island remodel features a short side-quest, fewer buildings, and two blimps.

The Pop Creators posted sneak peeks on the official blog and said it was currently in beta testing and would be released to all soon, but you can access it right now by playing on a new account.

As for the side-quest, it begins immediately and is fairly quick. Catch what happens on our new Home Island Guide or in this video from idk:

You might remember those statues from an earlier sneak peek. When you first land on the island, Amelia Earhart (yes, she’s still here, and she has her own statue now!) gives you a Novice Adventurer Outfit.

The side-quest has you chase after a guy clomping about on giant robot legs for stealing the statue of the greatest Poptropica adventurer, Xavier, who has majestic squid hair. Turns out the guy is Xavier! He plans on retiring and gives you his cottage, which is your clubhouse. That’s it for “The Greatest” side-quest!

Back on the main street of the island, you can find the blimp is available on either side of the island, rather than in the middle. There are now just two buildings: Adventure Outfitters (i.e. the store rebranded) and your remodeled clubhouse. In the background, we can see blimps flying in the distance, as well as more homes on floating islands.

By the gate to your clubhouse’s backyard is a Poptropican crying for help — it’s the mayor from 24 Carrot Island, who calls you to help his island. Maybe there’ll be a different character there in the future!

The menu has also been touched up. Instead of the crate, we get three lines in the top-right corner, which pulls up the menu items, now with text labels: Items, Map, Store, House, Friends, Arcade (which no longer has its own building!), Messages, Pets (now barn-less), and Settings.

Only a day into this beta release of the new Home Island, and there’s already fan art for the iconic Xavier! The Pop Creators even posted a doodle from @invisible_b0nes on their Instagram story:

That’s it for this post, but you can catch more about the new Home Island side-quest (including glamor shots of Xavier) over on our Home Island Guide! What do you think of this Home Island makeover? Was it time for a change, or are the Creators overplaying this first stop once again? Sound off in the comments and on the PHC, our Discord server!

Pop on, Poptropicans! ✌️

Home Island

Since we’ve no place to go, let it snow ☃️

Hey Poptropicans, have you seen that Home Island is covered in snow? ❄️ It’s different from last year’s winter makeover — you won’t find any falling snow, random birds, or snowballs to grab.

Instead, you’ll find colored lights, lamps, and garlands on buildings, plus a wicked bearded snowman beside the New You building. Jolly good! ☃

And if you haven’t already played it yet, don’t miss out on the new Grapple-Pap Gift side-quest by talking to the old man! 🎁 It’s only here for a limited time, so enjoy it while it lasts and spread some holiday cheer before Grapple-Pap comes for you!

After you’ve played the side-quest, you might enjoy this fan video from jaekelopterus3 (Perfect Fish) containing an analysis of the visual storytelling with the design of Clareta and her rundown home. (Beware: Spoilers ahead.)

In other news, the Poptropica Creators recently shared a couple more fan art features on their Instagram story. Check out these cool OCs (Original Characters) and their snazzy outfits!

Plenty more is going on around Poptropica, so be sure to catch up on the post below to see what else is new! And check back on the PHB tomorrow for a special post — we’ve prepared the perfect Poptropica entertainment to snuggle up to this Christmas. 📰🥰

Have a merry Christmas Eve — or just a quiet, socially distant day, considering the times — and happy Grapple-Pap! 🎄

Clubhouse, Home Island, Social Media

A story of houses and humans 🏡

Hey, everyone! There have been some new developments on Poptropica’s Haxe Javascript build… let’s take a look.

If you recently created a Haxe account, check out your clubhouse by clicking the clubhouse icon in your menu. When you arrive, you will be greeted with a welcoming pop-up and a fully-furnished living space. The sleek and modern designs of the furniture remind me of the ones from Poptropica Worlds.

These new items will appear in your clubhouse inventory, which you can access in Decorate Mode. Unfortunately, most of the old default items are gone, including the Poppies-award-winning Poptropica blimp! 😮 The only old item remaining is the green treehouse wallpaper.

If a player already visited their clubhouse prior to this update, they will get the new white wallpaper but not the new furniture. Why leave older accounts out of this special deal, Creators? Anyway, there are still plenty of items you can buy from the clubhouse store, so you won’t be stuck with an empty room.

Next time you visit Home Island on Haxe, you may notice that every character (except Amelia, the ice cream girl, and ad characters) has vanished. In their place, randomized NPCs can be spotted walking around and going in and out of buildings. Among these extras, you can spot some characters from Snagglemast Island, such as the vampire boy and the pink-haired girl.

Now let’s move on from game updates to social media updates! Last week, the Poptropica Instagram page posted a story asking fans what type of videos they want to see in the future. The Creators are probably eager to upload more content to the Poptropica YouTube channel.

pop ig_story videos

This week, the Creators’ Blog released a post featuring a new YouTube video. The post and the video highlight the Upside-Down Magic advertisement, the Dritten Follower prize (which they misspelled in their post as Dritton Follower, though it’s a simple mistake considering it’s a kitten and dragon crossover), and the ice cream stand on Home Island.

That’s all for now. What are your thoughts on this new clubhouse update? What type of videos do you want to see from Poptropica? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
