Candy Crazed, Member Gifts, Store

Ballin’ with sweet treats and styles πŸπŸ

Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got a few updates for you in this post: member gifts, a store rotation treating us to new items, and more behind the sweets of the Candy Crazed Mini Quest. Let’s go!

First, it’s a new month, which means a fresh batch of member gifts! June’s prezzies are all about balls: we’ve got a Trac Ball (press space bar to toss!), Bouncy Beach Ball, and Giant Squish Ball.

If you’re not a member, you can enter the PHB’s Free Membership Giveaway for a chance to win one! All you have to do is comment on the giveaway page and leave two other comments around the PHB within the month to join the lucky draw. You can try every month!

This week we’ve also got new items in Adventure Outfitters!

Fresh costumes include the Barbarian Warrior* (350 credits), Cat Hoodie (300 credits), Garden Glamour dress* (250 credits), and Summer Breeze* (250 credits). On the floor, we’ve got a Gummy Rider* (450 credits), Gumdrop Pup Follower (350 credits), and Master Huggins Piggyback* (150 credits). (* = members only)

You may recognize a few of these sweet treats from the Candy Crazed Mini Quest! It’s too bad most of the new things are for members only, but maybe they’ll return for all in a future rotation?

For the rest of the store rotation this week, check out this gallery courtesy of the Creators’ Blog update:

The Pop Creators also shared more behind-the-scenes deets and drawings on the making of the Candy Crazed Mini Quest. Here’s the roll call for the whole cast of hungry or confectionary characters, which you can read more about, puns and all, on the Creators’ Blog!

Get well soon, Master Huggles; get your name cleared, Little Witchy; and get to safety, Nanny! Guess it’s a hard life for the tasty-looking.

That wraps up this post! What do you think of the new items and the stories behind the crew of Candy Crazed? 🍭 Share with us in the comments, and keep on popping on, Poptropicans!

A new mini-quest?! May we bear witness? πŸ»πŸ‘€

Hey, Poptropicans! Gentle Dolphin here with news surrounding our favorite computer game. We’ll be taking a look at May’s new member gifts, some Instagram art features, and a mysterious new mini-quest. Let’s dive in!

A new month means new member gifts! The members of May will receive a colorful Rainbow Kite, a soaring Pump Rocket, and a somewhat dated LED Fidget Spinner. If you’re interested in owning these items, you can become a member by purchasing a membership or entering the PHB’s Free Membership Giveaway!

On April 30th, a new mini-quest appeared on Home Island but was deleted later that day. Where did it come from, and where did it go? Our theory is that the Creators accidentally released the quest too early then swiftly deleted it when they realized what happened. This is supported by a notification on the Messages app, teasing an upcoming mini-quest.

Here’s what we know about the quest so far: you encounter poor Ishmael on Home Island, who is being crushed by a sad momma bear. You offer to help the two by finding the bear’s five lost cubs in a snowy forest reminiscent to the wilderness of Survival Island.

It seems that you would receive something after completing this quest, but the game gets stuck on an infinite loading screen after you collect all five cubs. It’s good to know that the Creators are now taking the time to remove bugs for the final release, but it’s still strange how the quest got accidentally leaked in the first place. We’ll have to wait and see what the full quest has in store.

Last but not least, the Creators featured some more art on their Instagram stories. We have a dozen creative pieces ranging from Poptropica edits to illustrations. Look, there’s also some fan art for the new Fairy Tale Island!

That’s all for now. How would you rate this month’s member gifts? Do you have any thoughts about the upcoming mini-quest? Let us know in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

It’s no fantasy… Adventure Outfitters is now open for business πŸ‘€

Howdy Poptropicans, it’s LJ with lots of exciting news today!

First and foremost, a teaser image of what looks to be for the upcoming adventure and first winner of the Dream Island contest, Fairy Tale Island, was posted on Poptropica’s Instagram yesterday. Take a look!

Here we have a set of creepy eyeballs peeping through some prickly vines. It isn’t much, but Poptropica hasn’t been very good at providing us with sneak peeks in recent years, so it’s still enough to get me super hyped! Imagine, after 5+ years, finally getting an actual island with good substance. My hopes are high for this one since it was created by a fellow player. Fans often produce the best ideas for the games they love.

πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ Check out more sneak peeks for Fairy Tale Island Β»

In other fun news, the new store Adventure Outfitters we first saw a glimpse of in February’s Home Island revamp is now open for business!

I have to say I’m a big fan of the entire look and feel of the space. There’s a mix of modern and vintage vibes in the architecture which I love, and this is the first time in Poptropica’s history where we actually have a walk-in store as opposed to a page with cards.

(Disclaimer before I continue: All prices are subject to change as the update is VERY glitchy at this point. Thanks for understanding! Let’s continue…)

When you first enter, you’ll notice a large glassy ice skull (you might recognize it from the retired Pathfinders common room) mantled over the door; it’s available for purchase for 250 credits if you click it. Also, there’s a cute little friend to the right ready to sit atop your head. Honestly, I’m not sure whether it’s a hedgehog or a porcupine, but all the same, it’s 250 credits.

There are more items hanging around the walls on the left and right sides of the store, but we’ll get to those later.

If you head to the right towards Amelia (how did you get in here so fast?), you’ll notice “the gear section.” This is essentially the costumes section in the old store format, with arrows to flip through the offerings. There are currently 18 outfits available, with costs varying from 0 credits to 350 credits. 5 of the 18 outfits are members only.

Further to the right, there are two buttons marked “Gear” and “Pets,” so you can switch the inventory that’s displayed. If you click the pets button, the pets will appear along with their outfits and accessories.

Like before, the puppy and kitten are available for everyone, while the rest are members exclusive. For the pets section, there are also 18 pet garments in stock at 75 credits apiece. One-third of the items are members only. Now to the side sections…

All the way to the right of the store, you’ll see a selection of furniture items as well as a jetpack. The jetpack, clouds, and hammock are for 200 credits and the freezer is for 75.

On the very left, there are six various items for sale: a Golden Warrior costume, a vanity, a reversible octopus plush, an alicorn follower, and a rideable scarab beetle β€” all for 250 credits β€” and a lantern for 150. It’s unknown why these items don’t have their own display like the gear and pets. Perhaps for extra dΓ©cor?

Something else that’s new in addition to the store itself is the cart and checkout system. Anyone who’s ever shopped online is familiar with this concept. Rather than clicking an item and buying it immediately, you now have to add it to your cart.

I should note that whenever I tried checking out with a plethora of items in my cart, it just simply wouldn’t budge. I believe you can only check out a few items at a time.

Also, you’re unable to leave the store without either checking out or emptying your cart completely β€” which means you can’t save what’s in your cart and come back later. Not so useful, in my opinion.

It’s a new month, and that means new member gifts! This month, members will see a Trick Board, a Flying Spinner, and a Mini Mister Pack (you know, like mist sprayer) added to their inventory. All appropriate for the tricky month of April.

(Speaking of April Fools’ tricks, we hope you enjoyed ours. 😜 )

UPDATE: The pop-up that appears when you first save an account has gotten a minor but nice refresh featuring two currently unreleased costumes: a red hoodie with yellow shades, and a bonnet with a black cat plus a banjo in hand. Also, the reward for making a new account has been upped to 1,500 credits!

Thanks to Silver Horse for the pic!

Whew! Lots of things going on in Poptropica right now. What do you think of the news and the store update? I really appreciate the Poptropica creators trying to keep us entertained in between island releases and I always try to be optimistic, but how many Home Island makeovers do we really need? I believe if the creators halted the island makeovers (and other superficial updates for that matter) for a while and made extra time for porting the old islands β€” the integral part of the game β€” into Haxe, more players would be happier. I know I would.

Leave your opinions in the comments; I’d love to hear them. Thank you for reading and I’ll talk to you in the next one. Pop on!

March right in with member gifts and story features

Hello, everyone! March has finally arrived, and a new month means new member gifts. As always, active members will receive their gifts by logging in to Poptropica any time this month. Let’s take a look!

The March member gifts are admittedly simple but still pretty cute. The first exclusive item is a Handheld Game (sadly not playable), and the second is a Clear Backpack complete with school supplies.

Last but not least, members also receive three adorable Plush Hugs. These three plushies based on a bear, a cat, and a pig are as adorable as they are huggable. If you’re interested in owning these items and more, feel free to purchase a membership or enter the PHB’s Free Membership Giveaway!

Yesterday, the official Poptropica Instagram page featured more posts from talented fans. We have art starring iconic Pop characters such as Shark Boy and Ringmaster Raven (drawn by the PHB’s own Maryann), comedic creations like the Bardito and Dr. Hare’s transformation, and even some Poptropica-inspired costumes made in Animal Crossing!

That’s all for now, but there’s more news to come. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at a magical island coming soon this year!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Hearty items and love, to and from fans πŸ’

Hello, Poptropicans! Gentle Dolphin here with our first pieces Poptropica news in February. Today, we’ll be seeing new items for players and features of fan works. Let’s take a look!

February has a new pack of member gifts all themed around love. Active members will receive the following items: the Lifted in Love power, which makes NPCs float; the Love Bomb, which explodes in a flurry of hearts; and the Love Rocket Scooter, which allows you to zip around in sweet style. How lovely! ❀️

The store now features cozy winter fashion, Valentine’s goodies, and other miscellaneous items! We also got seven new items: Space Bounty Hunter, Slice of Pizza Tees, King and Queen Hoodies, Baby Alicorn Follower, L.E.D. Me, Valentine Minefield, and Heart Bubble Wand. Two of these items remind me of some shows I heard of, but my little brain can’t figure out what they are. πŸ€”

With so many hearty items around, you’re bound to fall in love with something!

Think I’ll name my new baby alicorn “Cool Whip.”

Two days ago, Poptropica featured a bunch of fan content ranging from art to writing. Poptropica’s latest Instagram story showcased a whopping ten art posts from seven different artists! We have art featuring iconic Pop villains, locations, and community members (including the PHB’s resident jokers).

Last but certainly not least, two new guest posts have appeared on the Creators’ Blog! Monday’s post was from none other than the PHB’s own Purple Paw, who details some of Poptropica’s greatest strengths, such as storytelling and visual design. You can read her full post on the Creators’ Blog as well as some of her other posts here on the PHB!

The second guest post comes from BraveSky, a Poptropica veteran (13 years is as old as the game itself!). She wrote a sonnet based on memories from the distant past, referencing classic bits of the game like breaking out of a box (the old account creation process) and hypnotic fried dough (Monster Carnival). The final couplet wraps it up beautifully:

Who says Poptropica is too different; is that truly so?

Ever stop to realize we have again rooms, shoes, pets, my beautiful afro?

BraveSky

If you’re at least 13 years old and want to join the blogging bandwagon, then you can apply to be a guest writer for the Creators’ Blog. But whether or not you meet those arbitrary age requirements, you can still guest write for the Poptropica Help Blog! Details are explained in our Write for the PHB page.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
