Creators’ Blog and Membership Gone 💻❌

In an odd move, Poptropica started the new year with the removal of two important links on their website top menu: the Poptropica Creators’ Blog and the Membership page.

After almost a year of no activity, the official Poptropica Creators’ Blog is officially gone. Clicking links to the Creators’ Blog will redirect you to Poptropica’s homepage. Every news article, every behind-the-scenes look, every guest post… gone. It’s hard to believe that it happened. Rest in Pop, Creators’ Blog. 🪦🌹

On a slightly lighter note, the Membership page is still accessible, just not on Pop’s homepage. You can access it via Google search and a link on Poptropica’s Parents page. While the Membership page is here to stay (for now), the membership plans are still listed as $0.

When debunking the shutdown claim, Poptropica’s official accounts addressed the membership issue with differing details. Pop’s Twitter X account mentioned that membership would be free during the month of December, but Pop’s Instagram account simply said, “Poptropica is free to play for everyone!” with no additional notes. Considering recent events, I doubt that the prices will be added back anytime soon.

True to the Creators’ words, the game is still around. However, the loss of two integral pages is a sign of trouble for Poptropica as a whole. Buckle up, everyone, because 2024 is certainly going to be quite a year for Poptropica.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Let’s Explain the Poptropica Iceberg! No Comment? 🧊

Good evening— or good morning depending where you live. Are you ready for Pop news? Let’s go!

Pop player KrishMortyJunior aka Krish made a video called “The Poptropica Iceberg Explained”. The 18-minute video covers each layer of the Poptropica iceberg, which details fun facts, Easter eggs, notable creators, and scrapped content relating to the game. Check it out:

There are so many facts covered in the video that you’re bound to learn something new. And we appreciate the inclusion of the PHB around the 5:44 minute mark — thanks, Krish! 🥰

In other blog-related news, it looks like we can no longer leave comments under posts on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog. We find that pretty suspicious, since fans have been calling for the Creators to update their blog, which has been silent since February. Instead of answering fans’ cries, they cut off one avenue of communication.

The Pop Creators’ Blog no longer accepts new comments.

What’s going on behind the scenes? The game still receives small updates, but the Creators don’t talk about anything outside of social media. For example, they recently shared a “Popstorm” tutorial on drawing a planet using artwork from Galactic Hot Dogs. It’s neat but nothing substantial, even with the Gatorade joke in the caption.

Poptropica is definitely in a weird state. At least fans like Krish are able to keep the game alive. If you want to talk to fellow fans, come join us over on our Discord server, the Poptropica Help Chat (for ages 13+).

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Monkey business as usual 🙊

It’s August, Poptropicans! 🌞 While we’ve started off the month with a bittersweet end for our Community Creations series, Poptropica continues to churn out some of its standard updates.

Like clockwork, Poptropica is kicking off the new month with a set of member gifts: a Monkey Fun Costume, Banana Follower, and Monkey Dance, which has your character bend and swing their arms. 🐒🍌

Adventure Outfitters on Home Island also rotated its stock, bringing out “new” items including scooters and snacks for your clubhouse, and summer styles like the blended pastels and frog bucket hat. 🛵🐸

Finally, check out some of the latest fan art featured on Poptropica’s Instagram stories last week — including more Pop-inspired cosplay from clovermulo, whose other clips were nominated in this year’s Poppies awards. Speaking of which, don’t miss our Poppies recap! 🩵

Greetings with Goofball & Grimace 💄🌚

Hey Poptropicans, it’s time to pop on the trends!

Because we can’t escape the Barbenheimer craze this week with both Barbie and Oppenheimer now in theaters, Poptropica has jumped on the bandwagon with a Pop twist: comparing how the two films’ vibes are like the stark contrast between Dullsville and Goofside on Goofball Island.

A few weeks earlier, Poptropica was hot on another trend and its similarity to a Pop adventure: the Grimace Shake foreshadowed by the classic Zomberry Island! Like the bad blueberries causing a zombie outbreak in the game, the purple McDonald’s milkshake was known to “infect” its consumers, who pretended to fall sick for kicks on TikTok.

Check out this (Pop)-twisted take of the Grimace Shake meme from the PHB’s Gentle Dolphin! Stay safe out there, folks.

Speaking of fan art, shout-out to Clover @clomellu for sharing these cool clay creations of Hades from Mythology Island and Dr. Hare:

By the way, we’re just a few days away from announcing the winners of the 2023 Poppies with a video drop and party! Catch us on the PHC and the Poptropica Arcade on Friday, July 28 at 7pm EST — details in our party invite here. Hope to see many of you there! 🥳🥂

Teenage Kraken goofing around under orange skies 🦑

What’s part of Poptropica’s world this week? Move over, The Little Mermaid: Home Island is now promoting Dreamworks’ upcoming animation — Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken! 🦑

Inside, where you’ll swim instead of walk, Ruby needs your help retrieving a trident. 🔱 Click to jump to dodge sea creatures and tap the space bar to blast water, which knocks things out of the way. But you can only do one action at a time, so balance your moves carefully!

Upon completing the chase, you’ll win a Sea Dog Follower and purple Kraken Tentacles, which glow pink when the space bar is pressed.

Maybe it is better down where it’s wetter. Up on land, you might have seen the news last week of New York City covered in orange skies, a sign of poor air quality — which Poptropica quickly likened to the dystopian future of Time Tangled Island in a meme on social media. ✴️

And the Creators are staying cute talking about a “Poptropica summer” popping with activities — but besides the ads, when will we be getting new content to enjoy? The Baron’s ship has been gone half a year…

Much of the Pop Creators team is a mystery these days, but we’re still getting cool content from Jonathan Pitcher, who recently posted a selfie showing him working on Goofball Island. Keep going, Jon!

Rounding off this update, here’s the latest in fan art features from Poptropica’s Instagram stories. Enjoy! 🎉
