Poptropica membership has been in for quite a ride lately. From being made free for all (supposedly a holiday gift that has continued past the holiday season) to the purchase page itself disappearing from the website menu, a new surprise emerges…

Now, a 1-month membership plan is being listed on the hidden purchase page for $2,000! For context, they used to be around US$3.95.

Surely, no one is going for this exorbitant price package, especially when all previously members’ content is still free in-game. Nor is Poptropica openly promoting this wild switch, so this just seems odd. 🤯

But where might Poptropicans actually spend their cash? Reddit user VillageInner8961 recently shared a pic of some permanent ink featuring the iconic disgruntled Bucky Lucas from Reality TV Island.

“I’ve been playing Poptropica since I was in like the second grade. I’m 20 now with adult money and a love of tattoos with stupid meaningful sentiments to me, so I got Bucky Lucas tattooed on December 19, 2023.”

  2. Poptropicas obviously going through a rough time right now, perhaps so rough that the game may end… which I really really hope otherwise.
    I really just wish the creators would reach out to the fandom, and if they need help (which I’m pretty dang sure they do) there’s a lot of innovative, talented people who could come up with solutions. Low funding? Lets host a live yt video where we share our animations and such and collect donations! Low on staff? I’ve met quite a few people who seriously want to get a job at Poptropica! Low on players? We can advertise on our socials and spread the word of poptropica! There’s so many ways I know we can help, and I just wish the creators would let us. 😦

  3. Speaking of Poptropolis Games, seeing the current state of the game, I’m assuming we won’t be having that this year. Shame, as I was looking forward to that since last year 😞

    1. I agree and it’s depressing but it is what it is, we really can’t do anything until it shuts down, then maybe a team of fans will make a revival, like a “Poptropica Rewritten” of sorts? And maybe make it even better, maybe every room could be a common room…

  5. This is scary. We had to dig graves for so many things the made Poptropica, Poptropica. This is a royal pain in the Poptropican neck to say this but..this year, I feel we’re gonna have more downs then ups…
