Howdy, Poptropicanos, my name is LJ! Iโve been playing Poptropica for as long as I can remember, and Iโve been blabbing about it here on the PHB for over 8 years. Wowie, the time sure goes by fast when youโre having fun. Beyond the realm of Poptropica, some of my hobbies include drawing, taking long strolls, collecting way too many cool things I donโt have room for, creating unique characters, and letting my imagination run wild in my daydreams. In real life, I tend to be pretty extremely shy, but online, Iโm usually bursting with cheerful energy. Donโt be afraid to chat me up in the comments or on the PHC. Also, follow my IG and DeviantArt if you wanna!

Hello, everyone! It’s Lucky Joker here with some fun stuff to share with you all today: scary moments, more fan art, and a throwback highlight for a YouTube gamer. Let’s pop into it!
On Instagram and the Creators’ Blog, Poptropica asked the community: What’s the scariest moment in Poptropica? Appropriately timed for the spooky Halloween season! Check out some of the responses below.
Here were some of the answers given by Poptropicans in the comments:
scoutin0ut wrote, “Definitely the Ghost Story [Island] ‘Are you looking for someone?’ part!! I jumped out of my seat and actually gasped during that!”
cacaocheri added, “For me, it was walking through the tunnel in Zomberry [Island].”
Gentle Dolphin of the PHB shared, “One scene that still unnerves me is the haunted house on Monster Carnival Island. I’m not a fan of jumpscares, so a creepy puppet popping out of random doors is definitely terrifying.”
What was your scariest Poptropica memory? Share with us in the comments here on the PHB, our PHC Discord server, or on Poptropica’s official channels!
In other Creator-fandom interactions, Poptropica also showcased more awesome fan art on their Instagram story this past week. Check out the poptastic gallery below (including a piece from Gentle Dolphin with the spooktacular Jersey Devil of Cryptids Island!)…
Pretty neat, huh? I encourage all of you to get creative and whip up your own Poptropica fan art too. For inspiration, we’ve got Poptober and Community Creations going!
And who knows? Your work just might get featured!
And finally, we have a video feature from the Creators’ Blog showing kid gaming YouTuber EthanGamer playing Poptropica for the first timeโand since it’s an older video (from 2016), he’s playing Monkey Wrench Island, the old tutorial that has since been replaced by Snagglemast. The Creators loved his joy over the Hot Dog costume too! Give it a watch:
Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here with an unlisted video to share from the YouTube channel of Poptropica visual designer, Kyle Fox. (Thanks to idk the glitcher for the cool find!)
In the short preview, you can see what Poptropica Worlds was like during its early stages before it was released. A few placeholder art and other assets such as “Short description or clue for how to use the item” were never seen in the game โ as well as items including a Big Apple and various clothing parts.
At the very beginning, in the top left corner, you’ll also notice a bar marked with a number six (possibly referencing a level system?) and a not-so-familiar currency called Moonstones. We could only wonder what the purpose of having two forms of currency was.
Pretty interesting, huh? It’s unfortunate the developers’ hard work has gone to waste, seeing that Poptropica Worlds has since been abandoned. Were you a fan of “the new Pop”? Leave your opinions in the comments!
Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker bringing you this month’s store update along with some social media shenanigans. Let’s pop into it.
It’s always a treat when the goodies in the store are rotated about, but that’s easily tainted when a majority of them are members only. Just 15 of the 37 items in the current stock are non-member friendly this time, which is less than half!
The available items this time around are as listed:
Costumes: Cool Outfit*, Stylin’ Outfit*, Soccer Player (boy), Soccer Player (girl), Pirate Captain (girl)*, Sunny Sport, Friendly Face Masks, Fashionista Prep, Natural Breeze*, Cool for School*, Space Sentry, Pirate Captain (boy)*, Templar Knight
Followers: Noodle Guy Follower*, Atlantis Drone, Elephant Follower
Miscellaneous: Drone Flying Follower* (which should be in the Followers section), Popsicles*, Watermelon Purse*, Flamingo Floatie*, Party Popper*, Instant Camera*, Avatar Studio, Balloons*, Rainbow Balloon*, Notebooks, Slime*, Hover Scooter*, School Backpack*
Items marked with a * are members only.
The Elephant Follower is new! ๐ Also, like last time, many former member gifts have returned, though still for members only and not for free. Another thing: despite its nearing obsoletion as a Flash product, the Avatar Studio has made a return to the storeโperhaps as a last hurrah.
In other news, Poptropica recently shared two works of fan art on their Instagram story โ which is definitely cool since their activity on social media is more sporadic and infrequent these days. It’s great whenever the creators acknowledge their fanbase by recognizing and appreciating the talent it brings forth!

That’s all there is to share for today. Thank you for reading and I hope all of you are staying safe and doing well. Until next time, pop on!
Rise up, Poptropicans! It’s time to find out which tribe reigns supreme!
The PHB’s 2020 Tribal Tournament has come to an end, and it’s time to recap the results, which were also announced earlier at our closing ceremony. We hope those of you who came had as much fun at the party as we did! It was a great time mingling, cheering, and going head-to-head in different games โ this time just for the sheer fun of it. ๐ Did you make it into the photo collage?
Above all, we’d like to thank those who participated with dynamism and unquestionable team spirit the whole way through. It sure was an exciting event and we couldn’t have pulled it off without you. Now, onto the results!
๐ฅ Creative Competitors ๐จ
For our first round, which transpired throughout the entire event, it was all about art and creativity. Many Poptropicans sent in their written works, visual pieces, musical compositions, and more Poptropica-based fan creations!
We looked for effort, so players earned 10 points for their tribe for every creation they submitted. Here are the results:
Black Flags โ 570
Wildfire โ 240
Nanobots โ 190
Flying Squid โ 180
Nightcrawlers โ 120
Seraphim โ 40
Pathfinders/Yellowjackets โ 30
Scroll down near the end to view the impressive Art Gallery of the Games, a selection of our favorite creations submitted for this event. So much good stuff!
๐ง Genius Games ๐ช
In Genius Games, there were three outlets to obtaining points which included: the Caption Contest, Tricky Trivia, and Trace That Place.
The Caption Contest was exactly what it sounds like. We provided a photo of a funky Poptropica scene and it was your task to come up with a caption that best captured the essence of the picture. There were entries that were witty, outright laughable, and some even brutal in their honesty. Here are the stats along with a collection of some of our favorites:
Wildfire โ 170
Black Flags โ 130
Nanobots โ 110
Flying Squid โ 90
Pathfinders โ 30
Nightcrawlers/Seraphim/Yellowjackets โ 0
by Kashews (Pathfinders)
by satanicswirlix (Black Flags)
by Zany Cheetah (Wildfire)
“Everyone once quarantine ends” โ Tall Melon (Nanobots)
“Oh, this? Just a normal day in Poptropica.” โ Incredible Fire (Wildfire)
For Tricky Trivia, team members worked together to answer 20 trivia questions (each worth 10 points) regarding Poptropica โ both in and out of the game. Most were fairly simple, but a few were pretty challenging as well. Regardless, many tribes were able to get most, and even all, of them correct! (list in alphabetical order; not by score)
Black Flags โ 200/200
Flying Squid โ 190/200
Nanobots โ 200/200
Nightcrawlers โ 110/200
Pathfinders โ 190/200
Seraphim โ 50/200
Wildfire โ 190/200
Yellowjackets โ 0/200
Trace That Place was a scavenger-hunt-esque game where participants had to put their scenery observation skills to the test. There were 16 screenshots from various different islands, and it was up to the players to collaboratively figure out where they come from. Here are the results:
The final round captured the true essence of what makes Poptropica so great โ completing Islands! In this case, the medallions from Poptropolis Games, Reality TV, and Reality TV: Wild Safari were the ones to go after. For each completion of an island, the tribe would earn 10 points. Here’s the list:
Black Flags โ 1360
Nanobots โ 340
Seraphim โ 130
Flying Squid โ 120
Pathfinders โ 30
Nightcrawlers โ 20
Wildfire โ 20
Yellowjackets โ 0
What a finish! As most of us know by now, Flash’s imminent fading by the end of 2020 means many of the islands will not be playable for much longer (unless the Creators bring them to newer tech). So competition or not, make the most of the moment and play the heck out of your favorite islands while you can!
๐ Final Rankings ๐
Ouch! Coming in at last place with a mere 30 points are the Yellowjackets. That must sting quite a bit. Looks like you’re gonna have to bee better next time, guys.
They may not have gotten the win, but at least they’re not last โ it’s the Seraphim! 130 points are all for this tribe but don’t be discouraged, seraphs. Just keep on soaring!
6th place isn’t anything to write home about, but the Nightcrawlers‘ effort in and of itself is still worth celebrating. What you gonna do with those 400 points? Wiggle wiggle wiggle…
The Pathfinders couldn’t seek their way to the top this time, but it was one heck of a journey! At the top of the bottom, the navigators stand confident at 5th place with 480 points.
Here comes a green wave, and we’re not squidding, because snorkeling in at 4th place is the Flying Squid. Not half bad, guys!
Things are heating up as we boil down to the top three. The Wildfire finished off hot racking up a total of 780 points! Way to bring some fire to the competition!
*beep* *boop* And I oop! Don’t let these little crabs deceive you. Nanobots defeated all odds by coming in 2nd place and pulling in a solid 1000 points. That’s no easy feat, so kudos to you guys!
Arrr you mateys ready to find out who took home the treasure this year? You guessed it โ it’s the rowdy and ruthless Black Flags!
Winning by an absolute landslide โ with over double the amount of points of their successors โ these scallywags have more than deserved their reign as champions until the next games. Ahoy!
Black Flags โ 2420 (570 + 490 + 1360) ๐ฅ
Nanobots โ 1000 (190 + 470 + 340) ๐ฅ
Wildfire โ 780 (240 + 520 + 20) ๐ฅ
Flying Squid โ 740 (180 + 440 + 120)
Pathfinders โ 480 (30 + 420 + 30)
Nightcrawlers โ 400 (120 + 260 + 20)
Seraphim โ 130 (40 + 50 + 40)
Yellowjackets โ 30 (30 + 0 + 0)
3๏ธโฃ Round III: Most Valuable Player ๐
And for the last result of the tournament, we’d like to award Pegs (Muddy Kid) with the third week’s MVP prize! Thank you for your never-ending dedication, and congratulations on your membership! You’ve done the Nanobots proud, so enjoy every second of it and feel free to take your bow.
