Return of the Zomberries

Ever since the big island purge last summer, we have been wondering when the classic islands would return to Poptropica. Just a few weeks ago, a “Flashback Friday” post gave us a glimmer of hope for one of Poptropica’s spookiest adventures. Now, a recent post by Blue Tooth has confirmed what we have been suspecting:

This is your EXCLUSIVE FIRST ALERT that Zomberry Island will be coming back with an all-new experience later this year!! Keep your eyes right here on the blog for upcoming previews, artwork, and more as our team works on a totally new level based on the classic Zomberry Island!

Awesome, right? After months of anticipation, we finally have our first returning island! There is quite a bit to unpack in this post, so let’s take it bit by bit so we can know what to expect.

Although the release date has not been confirmed, the post says that Zomberry Island will be coming back sometime later this year. It might not be October like we were all hoping, but the island will definitely be back before the end of 2019.

The most intriguing statement is that there will be a brand new level based on the classic island. Does this mean that the Creators are adding more content to Zomberry Island? If so, then this would be the first sound-updated island (SUI) to not be a straightforward adaptation of the original. (Unless you count 24 Carrot Island, which was redone for Poptropica Worlds.) Will other classic islands be given more content, as well? There’s a lot to think about here.

This whole idea to make more Zomberry content is not entirely new. Back in 2016, the Daily Pop showcased some concept art for a few possible Zomberry Island-themed minigames; you can read more about them in these “PHB Sneak Peeks” posts right here. Anyway, could this new level be inspired by one of these unfinished minigames? We’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case.

Before the outbreak strikes again, you can prepare yourself by playing the original Zomberry Island via idk’s Old Island Directory. Don’t forget to check out our Zomberry Island Guide if you need help finding key clues and avoiding pesky zomberries.

Flying with Jeremy to the Wild Safari

Greetings, Earthlings– I mean, Poptropicans! Today we have some news stories to make you go wild and fly out of your seat! Let’s start off with a dream that finally became a reality.

After being made members-only almost two months ago, Reality TV: Wild Safari is finally available for all players! Now, non-members can join in on the fun and compete against a slew of celebrity cameos in death-defying challenges for a chance to win the island medallion!

In other news, we have some ads that would intrigue the most dedicated space travelers. The Toy Story 4 ad is back to promote the film’s home and digital release. Like last time, players can watch the trailer to get the Buzz Wings Power! Act fast and claim those wings before the ad disappears to infinity and beyond.

Blue Tooth certainly thinks this power is amazing! She took to social media and posted a video of herself being yeeted into the night sky then falling stylishly back onto the ground. Check it out:

There’s also a new ad for the Disney Channel series “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables”. Watch the short trailer to earn two out-of-this-world prizes: the Space Bubble and the Jeremy Follower.

Halloween Costume Contest Eleven:
😇 Heavenly & Hellish 😈

As is our tradition here on the PHB, we’re hosting a Halloween costume contest on Poptropica! It’s our eleventh year doing this, and this time around we’re hosting two categories: Heavenly (for all things cute, charming, and classy) and Hellish (for the devilish, deviant, and depraved).

Here’s what you need to know about entering:

Assemble your costume for either category on Poptropica. You may enter each category as many times as you like. Each individual person is eligible to win just once per category.
Take a screenshot of your costume entry in the Costumizer window.* Here’s how to take a screenshot — the instructions will vary depending on your device. For Windows, you’ll also need to paste it somewhere to save it as an image file on your computer. Also, use the in-game Costumizer window (pictured below) as that will display your character at a high resolution. Ideally, crop the image to show just your character.
Upload the image to the web and share the link in the comments of this post. You can use a site like imgur to upload your picture and obtain a web link for it that can then be shared so others can see it. Once you’ve got a link, comment on this PHB post you’re reading right now with the link. Include details such as what category you’re entering, what you’re naming your costume, and anything else you’d like to share about it. Look for my sample entry comment (it’ll be by Slanted Fish) for an example.

*Note: Though we’ve used Avatar Studio (AS) links in the past, many of the newer items in Poptropica are not visible through AS. If your entire costume is still viewable by AS, you’re welcome to provide a link or username in lieu of a picture. However, since AS is no longer a complete guarantee for displaying costumes, we recommend taking a screenshot.

*Share a screenshot of your costume in the Costumizer window, like so. You can access this screen from the green shirt button in the menu.*

📝 Things to Note ✨

If you send us an Avatar Studio link, you’ll have to keep your costume intact until Halloween so we can see it throughout the month. That’s something you won’t have to concern yourself with if you send a screenshot instead, and it’ll be easier for you to capture multiple costume entries!
Tips for seeking out costume parts: We know Poptropica has changed a lot in the past year, making lots of old methods obsolete, but there are still places you can go for cool costume parts. Dig through old store items, buy new store costumes, crank the switch in the New You shop on Home Island, snag something off an NPC from PoptropiCon, sneak your way into old islands with this link from idk the glitcher, and use MAP (for individual parts) or the ASG Machine (for full costumes) along with usernames from our ASG collection.

Two grand prize winners will be selected, one in each category. Each grand prize winner will receive a 1-month Poptropica membership.
Featured costumes will also be immortalized on our Costumes page, but we’ll also have honorable mentions for just the post, not page.

Pop Petition: Clubhouse Perks 🏡

What’s up, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here coming at you with another Pop Petition! Today I’ll be discussing things I’d like to see added to the clubhouses on Poptropica. You may agree or disagree with this list, but let’s keep it positive either way. 😛 Without further ado, to the list!

1) Music

The fact that Poptropica already has an amazing selection of existing tracks from all of its sound updated islands, it’s hard to believe this isn’t an option yet. I mean, what better way to personalize your clubhouse than creating an ambience through your choice of music? Think about it — from the serene sounds of Mythology to the peppy jingle from the streets of Poptropicon — the possibilities are virtually endless!

2) Furniture Interaction & Customization

Similar to what SD said in her Pop Petition last year, I think it’d be fun if there was more interactability with our furniture items. They did it in Poptropica Worlds, so I’m sure they can do it here on the OG Pop too. Bouncing on a bed, flipping a light switch, or surfing through a few TV channels could really make the difference!

Capability to customize furniture would be spectacular as well! Imagine a color changing feature (similar to the colorizer), or being able to rotate and shift items the way you want. The photo booth could serve a whole new purpose if we were able to hang our creations up on our walls. How cool would that be?

3) Liking & Sharing

Wouldn’t it be neat if all the hard work you put into decorating your clubhouse had a bigger pay off? Having a like button and share button would serve that very purpose! It could function in the same way Realms does: having a code. That way, it wouldn’t be limited to just your friends, and every Poptropican can see it.

Or better yet, it could work like Multiverse used to. You could share a code anywhere (such as on the PHC) and people could type that in, then POOF, they’re in your clubhouse!

4) Frequent Updates

I’d say Poptropica has been pretty good at offering new decorations fairly regularly at this point, but if at all possible, if they can dish them out even more frequently — that’d be super awesome! All in all though, Poptropica, you get a thumbs up from me on this one.
