There’s more: the Poptropica Creators also posted something on their Instagram story on Saturday, which hasn’t happened since the days of Skinny Moon! The story is gone now, as they are only meant to last 24 hours, but it showed a reaction to a comment from @taintedgenome:

Ah, Adobe Flash Adventures doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Poptropica, wouldn’t you agree? (Almost-RIP Flash, too.)

Jokes aside, it’s great to see Blue Tooth interacting with the Poptropica fan community in this way, and I hope to see it spread to other corners of the internet where Poptropicans can be found, too. How about checking in on some fan blogs and our chat server, the PHC, like Skinny Moon used to do? So many of us are wanting to know what the Creators are up to!

Rediscovering Poptropica in 2019

You who are loyal readers of the blog have probably been with Poptropica for some time, but for others in 2019, Poptropica was a childhood pastime they’ve only recently rediscovered. In fact, this demographic has even been inspired to create videos highlighting their rediscovery experience!

Take Diamondbolt, for example—he’s a YouTuber who makes videos about video games and cartoons, and in his rediscovery video, he talks about how, as a child, Poptropica stood out as one of the best games. Watch him play through 24 Carrot, Super Power, and Reality TV Island with the commentary of someone who’s been able to appreciate Poptropica’s wit over time:

Another rediscovery video comes from JWhisp, a YouTuber who mostly plays Minecraft. Unlike Diamondbolt, who tried to create the ugliest character he could, JWhisp aims to make a “pretty hot-looking character.” With that setup, he heads into the Arcade and tries out some of the newer games, Poptastic and Crash-n-Bash, before making his way to Monkey Wrench Island. Watch him play and try to figure things out:

There are plenty more rediscovery videos to be found on YouTube—if you’re interested, just search “Poptropica” with more recent time filters (uploaded within a week, for example).

The Camping Store Update

Hey, everyone! After months of homework and pop quizzes (not the fun kind), it’s finally time to have some summer fun! Some of the most popular activities during this time of year are swimming, barbecuing, and especially camping. Speaking of camping, Poptropica just received a campy store update.

The Poptropica Store has recently been stocked with new camping gear and fuzzy creatures ranging from adorable to terrifying. As a bonus, this month also saw the return of five classic costumes. Come take a look!

Pop Petition: Make Mighty Action Force multiplayer

This is a guest post by Beefy Penguin (username: Durbadal) petitioning for Mighty Action Force, the card game from PoptropiCon Island, to be made into a multiplayer game for the Arcade. Enjoy!

Hi there, fellow Poptropicans. I’m Beefy Penguin, and I just finished the PoptropiCon trilogy. My favorite part? Mighty Action Force.

For those who don’t know, or need a refresher, Mighty Action Force is a Trading Card Game (TCG), which is a game where you collect different cards or trade them with others to build a deck and compete against others).

Now, I am a TCG fan (I play Cardfight Vanguard, a world-famous trading
card game), so when I saw the Mighty Action Force TCG, I felt that the
game deserved much more care and focus in the world of Poptropica.

So here’s what I’m petitioning: MAF should be released as a multiplayer TCG in the Arcade, so players can collect cards and compete with each other. (In fact, they should make a special room just for this game!)

Each player would have a basic deck, but that could be just the beginning. Single cards and booster packs could be obtained through quests, mini-games, trades, or purchased through credits. With so many characters on Poptropica, the possibilities for new cards are endless.

The game would be played against other players, head-to-head, in real time. A few new rules could be introduced to this game, like a clan system, the ability to boost your action with the power of another card, and to be able to defend against opponents’ attacks with the cards in one’s hand.

Poptropica has a lot of games in the Arcade—but nothing like this. It would be a great addition to the player experience, so I’d love to see it happen.

School’s out, member gifts in

What’s up, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here, and even if out you’re not out of school quite yet, June’s member gifts are here and it’s time for the summer fun to begin (if you’re in the northern hemisphere, that is 😛)!

This month, if you’re a member, a Skater Outfit, Ice Cream Cone, and Water Balloon Prank will all be added to your inventory upon login. Pretty rad. 😎

Over on the Instagram post announcing the new items, Poptropica received a few comments asking about the future state of Poptropica.

One user asked, “Are you shutting down due to Adobe Flash shutting down?…” to which the Creators replied with “Nope, We’ll still be here! Our devs are working on porting to a new platform.” That’s a great relief! I’m sure most of us thought Poptropica Original would be no more in 2020.

The same Poptropican also asked, “…Also are new islands ever going to come?” The Creators responded, “We’ll see! 👀” Could this mean we’ll be finally getting a new island adventure soon? I certainly hope so! It’s been quite a while now, to say the least….

In other news, there’s a new video ad for the upcoming Toy Story 4 movie on Home Island. All you gotta do is hit play, watch the trailer, and voila! — a Forky Follower just for you.
