Creator’s Indentity Revealed: Jess M. Brallier

One of PHB’s readers, Oumer26, was so helpful as to do some Poptropica research and has been sending [email protected], the blog’s E-mail address, updates on his findings so far. Recently, he has made a huge breakthrough: he discovered someone named Jess M. Brallier, who is one of Poptropica’s Creators! Thanks, Oumer!

Jess M. Brallier is the publisher, Family Education Network, developer of Poptropica. For proof, visit this website:
http://fun.familyeducation.com/page/61557.html

Also, take a look at this site that Oumer found, which talks about Mr. Brallier:
http://www.ourwhitehouse.org/contribbios/brailler.html

By the way, if you have some of Jeff Kinney’s (creator of Poptropica) bestselling books, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, you may have noticed that Jess Brallier is mentioned in the Acknowledgments at the back. Here are 2 examples:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
“… Jess Brallier, who understands the power and potential of online publishing, and helped Greg Heffley reach the masses for the first time. Thanks especially for your friendship and mentorship. …”

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
“… Thanks to Jess Brallier for bringing Greg Heffley to the world on Funbrain.com. …”

Because we know Jeff Kinney is also a Poptropica Creator, his book is on Funbrain.com, Poptropica (the game he created) is also on Funbrain.com, and now we know that Jess B. helped put Diary of a Wimpy Kid on Funbrain, it’s quite likely that Jess M. Brallier is a real Poptropica Creator too!

Note: Unfortunately, we could not find a way to contact Jess. If you do know, however, feel free to let us know!

Dragon Dress-Up

The Poptropica Creators are showing another “super-special” outfit on their blog. Thanks, SpiderGirl, for the news! Picture below:

Blog Post Title: Dragon
Description: Here’s another “super-special” outfit.
Image URL: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gw_QYz_mHpo/Sa1a3EjTlQI/AAAAAAAAAIw/skpBlzb4A0k/s1600-h/dragon.jpg
Image Name: dragon.jpg

Thirsty Eel, one of the PHB’s commenters, says that this dragon costume may have pieces from the rumored Monster Carnival Island, and predicts that they may be combining Astro-Knights with Monster Carnival. It’s just a theory, since nobody’s actually sure if this is really for Astro Island… but who knows?
(For more information regarding Monster Carnival’s item leak, see this post.) Let us know what you think!

Oumer26 has informed us that there is a new poll on the Creators’ Blog: What Poptropica merchandise would you most like to own? The options are:

  • Bobbleheads
  • T-shirts
  • Magnets
  • Giant wall stickers
  • Customized cell phone skins
  • Plush toys

Plush toys is winning so far.

This poll may be hinting that Poptropica could be selling real life merchandise soon. It looks a lot like they’re trying to make money out of this game…

Also, I’m not sure how long this has been here, but I’ve just noticed that the Poptropica Creators’ Blog has a slightly different header! Here’s what it looks like:

new-pcb-header1

They’ve changed the words “Creators’ Blog” to a light orange-ish color. It used to be white!

Also, a little   sign is now next to the “A” of Poptropica at the top. “TM” is short for “Trademark”, which is kind of like a tag, symbol, or mark that shows that a company/business owns something.

Anyway, remember to check up on the posts below!

Rockin’ Rock Stars and Rockets

We all know that the Creators have been working on some “super-special-and-secret” costumes lately… and a fresh new batch just came out today! Thank you Blue 6254! Rock stars may be coming to Poptropica…

Blog Post Title: More Outfits!
Description: Here are some more “super-special” outfits we are working on! Rock on!
Image URL: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gw_QYz_mHpo/SaQVDSM2vNI/AAAAAAAAAIo/z2VqPcPHEEQ/s1600-h/specials2.jpg
Image Name: specials2.jpg

On the left we have a female rock star with a wild hairstyle, colored pink and black. She’s also wearing a pink shirt, white pants, a black jacket with buttons, and holding a pink electric guitar. On the right is a male rock star, and his hairstyle is similar to the one on the right, but it’s still a bit different and the colors are black and white (how skunk-like!). 😛 He’s carrying a brown flying V guitar, and wearing a black jacket (without buttons), a green shirt with a yellow star, and black pants. Both the boy and the girl have cool sunglasses-like things over their eyes! 😀

Another new post on the Creators’ blog, and it looks like this one is for Astro-Knights! Thank you for the reminder, Neat Whale. Blog picture below:

Blog Post Title: Rocketing through space
Description: There’s a lot of space to explore out there! What new planets and lifeforms await?
Image URL: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AkTCxo8C1Ys/SaWfjZ1KKGI/AAAAAAAAAFI/KGPH7zxhZqY/s1600-h/rocket.jpg
Image Name: rocket.jpg

It’s that Astro-Knights Island rocket again! It looks like we’ll be flying through space. Awesome!

There’s some blue stuff coming out of the rocket. Wonder what that is? Feel free to comment about your thoughts on this sneak peek here!

Please keep this in mind while commenting around Poptropica Help Blog:

You are not required to type in perfect spelling/grammar. You may use abbreviations such as “u” for you, or misspell a few words if you can’t find the right spelling, such as “spasifik” instead of “specific”. However, you need to keep your comments readable.

If you find that you or someone else used the wrong spelling or grammar for a word, phrase, or sentence, even though you/they didn’t want to, please don’t comment to correct the person. It’s not necessary. It will only waste comment space (there’s no limit, but it’s better to keep it neat), people will get off-topic to have a big discussion about it, and if you knew what they were trying to say enough to want to correct them, we’re sure everybody else will understand it too. So, please don’t  comment that way.

Also, when someone tells about a new post on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog, it’s not an invitation for everyone to start discussing it. The PHB will eventually post about the Creators’ new post, and when we do, that would be the time to talk about it. Not on the older posts, because it’s considered off-topic there.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully you can apply to these things in the future! 😉

Remember to check out some of the posts below, too!

Crazy Costumes, Yogo Bucks, and… Nate Greenwall!

It looks like the Poptropica Creators are using their fashion sense to create some more crazy costumes for Poptropica soon! Here’s their latest sneak peek:

Blog Post Title: New Outfits!
Description: Here are a few examples of some “super-special” outfits we are working on!
Image URL: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gw_QYz_mHpo/SZscBulERtI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/dR6MQo6yUig/s1600-h/specialOutfits.jpg
Image Name: specialOutfits.jpg

Hmm, hmm, hmm – special outfits? What are they for? We don’t know yet. Maybe an advertisement?

Anyway, I’m not sure what they are, but I’ll try to describe them. Going from left to right: a lady with a queen’s robe and some sort of white wig (looks like a lawyer’s wig with jewelry on it), a white-skinned Asian-looking girl with a string instrument and purple dress, a soldier with a big helmet and 2 swords (one in his hand, one on his belt), and a guy in a lion costume, holding a mouse (would that have anything to do with the story, The Lion and the Mouse?). 😛

yogobucks-copy

Welcome to the Yogo Bucks Club!

It’s the newest advertisement building on Poptropica, one predicted by Codien’s PHB Sneak Peeks. They can be found on Early Poptropica, Shark Tooth, Time Tangled and Nabooti. Thanks for the location names, Shiny Leaf!

To get the special Yogo Bucks Club Suit, you have to win the 3 games around the clubhouse. They are:

  • Money Grab: lower-left part
  • Card Match: lower-right part
  • Find the Hidden Card: upper-right part

Once you beat all 3 games, you will win the Yogo Bucks Club Suit and a special prize – good luck!

After reading about Jeff Kinney being a Creator, Grumpy Wolf shares about someone named “Nate Greenwall” who also seems to be a Creator:

I’ve also heard of a man named “Nate Greenwall”, whom they are talking about on other blogs, But I’ll look into it.

His website is http://www.nategreenwall.com/ and on his resumé that he’s worked with Pearson Education Inc. and he joined the Poptropica team in ‘07. He is the one who even designed the Poptropica logo!

Cool – there are now 3 known ways of contacting the Poptropica Creators:

  • Vlad the Viking: Send him a message on his YouTube channel page, one of his videos, or via private messaging. This requires you to have your own YouTube account, and you must be at least 13 to have one. The link is http://youtube.com/user/vladtheviking/.
  • Jeff Kinney: Send him an E-mail. This requires you to have your own E-mail address. Jeff’s E-mail address is [email protected].
  • Nate Greenwall: Contact Nate. Visit his website, http://www.nategreenwall.com/, and click on “Contact” on the left. This requires you to have your own E-mail address. On the contact form, fill in your name, E-mail address, and what you want to say to him.

Check out the post below to learn more about Jeff Kinney, see an Astro Island sneak peek, and discover that the PHB has had its first half a million views!

Our first half-million, Jeff Kinney, and Shining Crystals!

Yes!! Poptropica Help Blog has reached 500,000 hits – that’s half of a million! 😯

Special First Posts!:
Scary Tomato’s first post (joined July 26, 2008.)
Smockers’s first post (joined October 6, 2008.)
Codien’s first post (joined October 20, 2008.)

The PHB was created on July 26, 2008. Today is February 17, 2009. That means it took only around 6 months, 3 weeks, and a day! That was quick! 😀

To celebrate with a bit of confetti, check out this funny website:
http://producten.hema.nl/

The language written there is Dutch, but don’t worry, you don’t need to know Dutch to watch the cool video there! Oh, and turn on the volume for extra effects, too! 😛

Or…

  • opens the cookie jar*
  • munches*

Let’s add some milk to that, too! Cheers!

Many of you might know Jeff Kinney. In case you don’t, he’s the author of the bestselling series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid! If you want to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid, you can see it online for free on Funbrain: http://www.funbrain.com/journal/Journal.html?ThisJournalDay=1&ThisPage=1.

Anyway, Grey Flame recently discovered on Jeff’s website that Jeff Kinney himself is one of Poptropica’s Creators! Thanks for sharing, Grey Flame!

For proof, visit Mr. Kinney’s website at: http://wimpykid.com/

Click on “Author Interview” at the left side. Under the second Q-and-A that shows up, click on “Next”. On the next page find where it says “Q: Are you a full time writer?” A:, the answer, says: “No. I work full-time as a virtual world designer, and I created Poptropica.com. I’m also a full-time dad, so things are very busy for me right now!”

The big news is, there’s now another known way to contact the Poptropica Creators! On Mr. Kinney’s website, click on “Contact” at the left. At the top, it says:

Jeff Kinney
[email protected]

Please note: Because of the amount of E-mail Jeff receives, it’s not possible for him to respond quickly. It might take a few months for Jeff to get your E-mail.

We might be able to ask Jeff Kinney about Poptropica questions by sending E-mails to him! However, as the note says on his website, it might take quite a while before he replies (if he even does at all!).

If any of you send him an E-mail, and he replies, tell us about it! You can forward it to us at [email protected]. If it’s really interesting we can share it with everyone else on Poptropica Help Blog, and give you credit, of course!

Anyone here like pink? Then this next Astro-Knights sneak peek is for you!

Thanks Zany Moon for the alert. Adorned all over this image we see are a many shiny pink crystals. Here’s the picture and information:

Blog Post Title: Far Far Far Away
Description: I’ve found some really unique places within the vast world of Poptropica. This place was really special with its many glistening and glowing pink crystals. I couldn’t help but pick one up and examine its beauty.
Image URL: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_q9BePaDQLzI/SZmP51ndHoI/AAAAAAAAAC0/Gx0istNg42c/s1600-h/crystals.jpg
Image Name: crystals.jpg

Maybe we’ll get to hold these crystals on Astro-Knights, since that’s what Comic Kid is doing in the picture! 😉
