Popping boredom busters: bird coloring, word searching

Greetings, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here.

Have you found yourself overwhelmingly bored in quarantine just needing something to keep yourself occupied? Try these fun little activities โ€” all thanks to the good folks from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog.

First, they’ve shared three downloadable/printable coloring sheets waiting to be brought to life of various scenes and characters:

There’s an ostrich-riding scene from Reality TV: Wild Safari, the infamous Dr. Hare from 24 Carrot, and an extended version of Poptropolis Games Island. I may do one of these myself and add it into this post later on. ๐Ÿ˜›

In addition to the coloring pages, we have a delightful word search game to complete, and it’s also downloadable for printing. Word searches are definitely one of my favorite pastimes. I’ve actually been doing a lot of them lately, so this’ll be great. Thanks Poptropica!

It’s certainly nice of the Poptropica Creators to be doing what they can to cure (or at least lessen) the dullness of this time we’re in.

If you’re in search of any more Poptropica pursuits to engage in, feel free to reference our 101 boredom-busting list, participate in this month’s Community Creations, or consider writing up a guest post โ€” we’d love to have you!

Old islands snaggled to smoke

Hey Poptropicans! First off, if you haven’t already, check out the new island, Reality TV: Wild Safari, on CoolMathGames! We’ve got you covered with our PHB island guide, too. You might enjoy the trivia section! ๐Ÿฆ›

But an island appears one day, and about 30 islands are gone the next. Yup, check your maps: all the old-school islands (non-SUIs) are gone. RIP. The good news is, you can still access them via idk’s Old Island Directory.

(Don’t be fooled by the page buttons at the bottom… these screenshots were taken before the great loss of our beloved Old School Islands, but they show which islands have survived the purge.)

(UPDATE): Even still, Poptropica is planning on bringing those islands back eventually. They were removed due to the older technology resulting in game bugs, but Poptropica’s working on porting them to newer tech!

From the first page of the new map, you’ll also see that we have one tutorial (Monkey Wrench) replaced by another: Snagglemast Island.

Odd name, but it’s rather similar to the retired Hub Island from 2015, with a similar premiseโ€”except instead of collecting shards, we’re collecting mega coins. However, the only coins I saw were all dangling in a bar at the top of the screen. You’ll also get to meet various characters and animals as you bumble along, and fellow adventurers may occasionally run past you in their pursuits.

In other news, the voting round of the Poppies is now over. Tune in on Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern for our awards party, in which we announce the winners via livestream and celebrate the PHB’s birthday in Poptropica common rooms! More details about the Poppies 2019 party here ยป

On the horizon: a new island?

Hey, Poptropicans! What have we here?

Blue Tooth just posted a picture of herself on the Poptropica blimp, scanning the skies with binoculars in hand. Her words are few, but just enough to hint at a possibility we’ve all been waiting for: a new island??

The Instagram version of Poptropica’s post includes another clue: the caption, “What’s on the horizon??” is followed by an emoji of an island. ๐Ÿ And already, Poptropicans are commenting on the post hoping for just that.

It’s been a long time since Poptropica has seen a new islandโ€”the last one was Greek Sea Odyssey on Poptropica Worlds, which was released in February 2018, more than a year ago. The wait for a new island has never been longer, and Poptropicans are still holding onto the hope of another island adventure, just like old times. Could it finally be happening?

What do you think is on the horizon for the summer? What would you like to see on a new Poptropica island? Sound off in the comments, and as always, stay popping, Poptropicans!

Fantastic furniture and a website without Worlds

Hello, everyone! My name is Gentle Dolphin, and today we have quite a few interesting things happening over at Poptropica. Let’s get started with a magical clubhouse shop update.

The clubhouse shop has been updated to include some new items that could only exist in our wildest fantasies. In total, there are fourteen new items: ten mythical creatures, three woodsy wallpapers, and one unicorn plushie.

Sadly, only four of these items (blue ogre, mushroom kid, sugar plum fairy, and gnome) are available to all players. Look on the bright side, with the announcement of “Clubhouse of the Week”, you can give your clubhouse a magical touch to stand out from the rest. Log in and get customizing!

Before you log in, you may notice that the Poptropica homepage has been given a makeover, complete with a brand new banner showcasing what you can expect in the game. I’m going to miss the old homepage design, but this still looks nice.

Although this is a nice change, I can’t help but ask myself “Where is Poptropica Worlds?” The homepage doesn’t have a link to Pop Worlds; clicking either the “Log In” button or the “Play Now” button will direct you to Poptropica Original. This is especially strange considering that, a few days earlier, the homepage had Poptropica Worlds-style graphics, yet there were still no links to it whatsoever. Take a look:

Crazy, right? I googled Poptropica Worlds to check whether or not it was still working. Popย Worlds still works, though it still hasn’t changed since last year. This brings up a lot of questions regarding the future of Pop Worlds. Why would the Creators just leave Poptropica Worlds off of the homepage?” “Why haven’t the Creators been giving it nearly as much love and attention as its older sibling, Poptropica Original? “

It’s no secret that the Creators are hard at work making sure that Poptropica Original is able to stick around after Flash is no longer supported by the end of 2020; they’ve made this clear as day. But you’d think that they would also put focus on Pop Worlds, which was originally created to be a successor to Pop Original.

A while back, the Creators wrote on their blog that they were working on updates for Pop Original and Pop Worlds. They stated that though they were working on Pop Original, they hadn’t abandoned Pop Worlds. Right now, it’s hard to fully believe their statement regarding Pop Worlds. Here’s what they said:

And for those of you wondering about Worlds, don’t worry, new updates are headed there too! The Creators have been working on some updates that *have* to happen to Poptropica so we can keep it around after Flash is no longer supported, but that doesn’t mean we’ve abandoned Worlds!

That’s about it for now. What do you guys think of the new fantasy furniture items? What do you think is in store for Poptropica Worlds’s future? Leave a comment below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
