Ask Poptropica Siri, Hellos & Goodbyes

๐Ÿง  Ask Poptropica Siri #1: Favorite islands, Fairytale frenzy, and fashion perfection

Ask Poptropica Siriย is a Q&A segment here on the PHB where you, dear readers, are invited to send in your Poptropica questions to have them answered with all the wisdom you can expect from a Smart Icicle.

What is your favorite island? ~Pegs

Thatโ€™s a good question! I have many favorites so it is hard to choose just one. But, I like 24 Carrot Island the best! I have had a laugh when meeting Dr. Hare with the Dr. Hare costume. Still wondering where he is after he flew into outer space. ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŒŒ

My second favorite island would be Skullduggery. I’m a big fan of pirates. Plus, I enjoyed meeting Captain Crawfish and the ships in the island.

Where is Rumplestiltskin? ~AMOGUS SUS

Well, no one knows. He might be planning something right now! I know that thereโ€™s going to be more mischief from him, so letโ€™s just sit tight for now. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Although, thanks to the fanfic challenge, there are so many new stories where Rumplestiltskin returns to Fairytale Island. I am wondering if the Creators will be able to change the cliffhanger at the end of the island…

What is the best costume for you? ~Dangerous Dragon

My best costume has to be the one Iโ€™m wearing right now (see the Ask Poptropica Siri pic above!). I got the kimono through the ASG and the boba tea from Card Collector. Also I have to point out my favorite costume is Slanted Fish’s kimono, bonsai tree, and genie combo. Thatโ€™s what inspired me to wear kimonos on Poptropica. I also thought that Incredible Jokerโ€™s costume was cool!

How can you send in your questions to Ask Poptropica Siri?

Thatโ€™s a great question! You can use the following methods:

  • ๐Ÿ“ง Send an email to askpoptropicasiri (at) gmail (dot) com. This way, youโ€™ll get to keep your questions a surprise when they get answered on the blog.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Comment on the latest Ask Poptropica Siri post. Your questions will be publicly visible before they appear in a Q&A post, but this allows others to interact with your question if they so choose. If you donโ€™t have an email address, you can enter a fake one in the email field when you post your comment.

Finally, as this is my first official post as a contributor on the PHB, allow me to introduce myself to all you readers!

You may have seen my other guest posts on the PHB, or perhaps my site, Smart Icicle’s Blog! When I first sent my draft for Ask Poptropica Siri and the PHB asked me to be a contributor, I almost fell off my chair. I am very excited for the experiences that lie ahead of me on the PHB. So before I pop off, here’s a little more about me…

I have been playing Poptropica forever. I like to draw, and even though Iโ€™m not good at it, it still makes me happy. I also enjoy watching SpongeBob, reading The Hunger Games, and participating in PHB activities and Creators’ Blog contests. You can add me on Poptropica with the username Target1051.

See you in the next one, Poptropicans!

A new author has conquered: Maryann

Hello all!

My Poptropican
(Username: mdp686)

My name is Maryann, although if you’d like you can also call me Smart Bubbles, my Poptropican name. I am ecstatic to join this team, and I can’t wait to see where my time on the PHB goes!

As it is par for the course, I might as well give a brief introduction. On pretty much all social media I go by MaryannTheConqueror, including on the PHC Discord where some of you might have seen me. My absolute favorite island is Astro-Knights, and you can probably expect half my posts to be about it (and the other half to include a bunch of vague references and nudges to the Creators to prioritize its Haxe port).

I’ve been a fan of Poptropica for much, much longer than I’ve been active in its fandom. I started playing around the release of Skullduggery in May/June 2010, and kind of phased in and out of my interest in it. That being said, there was something about the game and its stories that captivated me and kept me coming back.

I became obsessed with finding any tiny bit of lore on the world and characters I could, and even began writing (embarrassing) fanfiction that I thankfully never put online. That being said, I still credit Pop as a major inspiration for my love of storytelling, as well as art after I had my chance to show my love in the 2016 #PoptropicaArt contest!

I joined Discord around the time of the 2020 Tribal Tournament, and participated in Poptropica Month on YouTube as well. I also wrote a few guest posts for the PHB as well. Through this I’ve met many online friends and have started a lot of chaos and cults very dedicated groups.

Besides Poptropica, I also love Stardew Valley, Genshin Impact, and pretty much any artsy 2D RPG that comes my way. I also love reading (“Thunderhead” from the “Scythe” series broke my soul), and watching shows and movies, particularly animated ones! I’m also on Instagram, Tapastic (where I post my comics), YouTube, and of course, the PHC.

I can’t wait to write more, and I hope we have a fun journey together!

New author popping in: Purple Paw

Hi there, everybody! I’m Purple Paw, and itโ€™s trueโ€”Iโ€™ve just become the PHBโ€™s newest author!! Iโ€™m incredibly proud, very surprised, and most of all, excited to have this opportunity.

Art of my Poptropican (username: PurplePawzz)

Beginning my journey as a writer for this blog, Iโ€™ll tell you a bit about how I joined this fandom.

I first started playing Poptropica in 2015, finding the game through Funbrain (as many players do). After playing my first islandโ€”Mystery Trainโ€”I quickly became engrossed in the game. In mid-2016, I ran into technical difficulties that prevented me from playing for several months. But as soon as everything was fixed and back in working order, I jumped right back into playing!

For quite some time, I wasnโ€™t as interested in Pop, as my attention gradually shifted to other fandoms. Throughout 2017, 18, and 19, I would occasionally log in to check out what was happening, but nothing interested me enough to convince me to stay. That is, until 2020 came…

This past summer, I had a thought to check back on Poptropica. And this time, something did convince me to stay: the return of the old islands. I was thrilled to see that they had come back. I bought a membership so that I could enjoy them once more.

Whilst playing through a difficult island (which one, I canโ€™t remember) I found myself stuck. But I wasnโ€™t worried; I knew there were plenty of helpful walkthroughs out there. So I browsed the Internet for the best one I could find. And then I came across the PHB! I liked the PHB enough to revisit it several times. But I didnโ€™t involve myself in the community at firstโ€”that is, until the PHB’s Tribal Tournament began in August. Now, this was something I couldnโ€™t resist. I sent in my submissions, and was very surprised when I was crowned MVP!

I joined the PHC Discord community for the end of tournament party, and decided to stick around. I met several online friends there on the Discord server. In the following months, I started writing guest posts for the PHB and participated in a few other contests. By that point, you could say I’d put myself out there in the Poptropica fandom.

But the most shocking surprise came just this week. I had logged onto Discord, and was typing a message, when I noticed a new DM from Slanted Fish. Curious, I opened it, and it took all my willpower not to scream when I saw the invitation to join the PHB team!

I wonโ€™t deny that I had considered becoming a PHB author, but the fact that it was really happening was unbelievable! The down-to-earth side of me tried to convince myself the invite was just a dream, but I knew it wasnโ€™t. Ecstatic, I accepted the offer. And that just about brings us to where we are today. Iโ€™m super excited to be part of the PHB staff, and canโ€™t wait to see what happens next!

A new author dives in: Gentle Dolphin

gd chibiHello, PHB readers!

My name is Gentle Dolphin, and I’m the newest staff writer on the Poptropica Help Blog. I’m grateful for this position, and I can’t wait to be a part of this journey!

Just in case anyone doesn’t know who I am, here’s a brief rundown. My real name is Jordyn, but I go by Gentle Dolphin in the Poptropica community. Well, technically, I go by three different names online: Jordyn, Gentle Dolphin, and @phs_animations. (I really should not have made my online names hard to keep track of…)

I’ve been a big fan of Poptropica for a long time (about six years at this point), but I started getting involved in the community less than two years ago. Since then, I have been making Poptropica fan art and even started my own fan blog: Gentle Dolphin’s Pop Blog.

Outside of the Poptropica community, I do plenty of stuff on and offline. I like to write stories and draw pictures; one of my goals in life is to become a comic artist and an animator. I enjoy baking, singing, dancing, playing computer games, and spending time with family. I also love animals; I especially love cats.

If you want to see more of my work or talk, feel free to check out my social media. I’m onย DeviantArt, Twitter, Instagram, andย Discord. If you want to friend me on Poptropica, just add me with the username magicalyre. Go and check out my blog as well (linked above) for more pop-tastic content!

It’s hard to believe that I’m actually going to be writing for this site, but I strive to make each of my posts informative and creative. Stay tuned to the Poptropica Help Blog for Pop news and more from all of us here on the PHB team!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

โ€”Gentle Dolphin

Curtain call

the_runes_and_the_queen_by_1313cookie-d9hid2p
“The Runes and the Queen” by Brave Tomato

There are going to be points in life where you must make a very hard decision. And I donโ€™t mean decisions like what to eat at a restaurant or, I donโ€™t know, what to wear. Those are things that you simply do and forget about in a month or two.

And then there are the tougher decisions that will affect the rest of your life. Where to go, what to do, what do you want to do with your lifeโ€”those are the hardest decisions that people will come across, and there must be a time where youโ€™re ready to face it head-on.

So with that said, I’ve decided that, after six years, itโ€™s my time to resign from the Poptropica Help Blog.

It wasnโ€™t easy, but I do have a motivation as to why Iโ€™m resigning. Well, you probably noticed that I havenโ€™t posted on here since Greek Sea Odyssey was announced (ironic, huh?). Over time, I realized that I wasnโ€™t the same girl as I was six years ago. My interest in blogging started to fade away. When I first joined the PHB, I’d just started high school, and now here I am, approaching my third year of community college. I have a lot of other projects ahead of me now, and it feels time to step aside for another person, a person like the one I was six years ago, to enjoy what I had.

But don’t get me wrongโ€”Iโ€™m not leaving the fandom. Iโ€™ll still make videos for my YouTube channel; Iโ€™ll still create things for people to enjoy. Poptropica as a game is still dear to me, and I will continue to follow its progress with Poptropica Worlds. Also, Iโ€™ve made several close friendships that I cherish deep in my heart. Iโ€™ll still be around; I wonโ€™t let myself fade away that easily ๐Ÿ˜Š. ย However, I really do feel like this is the perfect time for me to leave the PHB.

I could never be more grateful for the opportunity to be here in the first place. So, I want to say thank you. Thank you, past and present PHB authors, for working alongside me and being supportive on the journey. Thank you, Slanted Fish, for seeing something in that 14-year-old me; for bringing her over to the PHB.

Thank you to the Creators, old and new, for all the things you do for the game, with a special personal thank you to Jessica Devine (for being such an amazing community manager in the past), Mitch Krpata (for going out of his way to give me a shout-out in one of his Poptropica video walkthroughs), and Ashley Lange (for that drawing of the PHB crew she made a few years ago).

Thank you to all my friends Iโ€™ve made through this fandom over the years, for being listening ears and sharers of happy memories. And thank you, the audience, for being a part of the show. Winning the Poppieย award for “Best PHB Author” really meant a lot to me, and Iโ€™m so glad that you saw something in my contributions over the years. So thank you ever so much for that.

And now the show, for me, has to end. The curtain call must be made; I’ll stand and take a bow one last time. Remember the good times we experienced during the performance. The decision to end it was inevitable, and the time has finally come. Hereโ€™s to the show going on for the PHB, hereโ€™s to everything that brought us together, and hereโ€™s to the next chapter of whatโ€™s to come.

With love,
