A new author has conquered: Maryann

Hello all!

My Poptropican
(Username: mdp686)

My name is Maryann, although if you’d like you can also call me Smart Bubbles, my Poptropican name. I am ecstatic to join this team, and I can’t wait to see where my time on the PHB goes!

As it is par for the course, I might as well give a brief introduction. On pretty much all social media I go by MaryannTheConqueror, including on the PHC Discord where some of you might have seen me. My absolute favorite island is Astro-Knights, and you can probably expect half my posts to be about it (and the other half to include a bunch of vague references and nudges to the Creators to prioritize its Haxe port).

I’ve been a fan of Poptropica for much, much longer than I’ve been active in its fandom. I started playing around the release of Skullduggery in May/June 2010, and kind of phased in and out of my interest in it. That being said, there was something about the game and its stories that captivated me and kept me coming back.

I became obsessed with finding any tiny bit of lore on the world and characters I could, and even began writing (embarrassing) fanfiction that I thankfully never put online. That being said, I still credit Pop as a major inspiration for my love of storytelling, as well as art after I had my chance to show my love in the 2016 #PoptropicaArt contest!

I joined Discord around the time of the 2020 Tribal Tournament, and participated in Poptropica Month on YouTube as well. I also wrote a few guest posts for the PHB as well. Through this I’ve met many online friends and have started a lot of chaos and cults very dedicated groups.

Besides Poptropica, I also love Stardew Valley, Genshin Impact, and pretty much any artsy 2D RPG that comes my way. I also love reading (“Thunderhead” from the “Scythe” series broke my soul), and watching shows and movies, particularly animated ones! I’m also on Instagram, Tapastic (where I post my comics), YouTube, and of course, the PHC.

I can’t wait to write more, and I hope we have a fun journey together!

New author popping in: Purple Paw

Hi there, everybody! I’m Purple Paw, and it’s true—I’ve just become the PHB’s newest author!! I’m incredibly proud, very surprised, and most of all, excited to have this opportunity.

Art of my Poptropican (username: PurplePawzz)

Beginning my journey as a writer for this blog, I’ll tell you a bit about how I joined this fandom.

I first started playing Poptropica in 2015, finding the game through Funbrain (as many players do). After playing my first island—Mystery Train—I quickly became engrossed in the game. In mid-2016, I ran into technical difficulties that prevented me from playing for several months. But as soon as everything was fixed and back in working order, I jumped right back into playing!

For quite some time, I wasn’t as interested in Pop, as my attention gradually shifted to other fandoms. Throughout 2017, 18, and 19, I would occasionally log in to check out what was happening, but nothing interested me enough to convince me to stay. That is, until 2020 came…

This past summer, I had a thought to check back on Poptropica. And this time, something did convince me to stay: the return of the old islands. I was thrilled to see that they had come back. I bought a membership so that I could enjoy them once more.

Whilst playing through a difficult island (which one, I can’t remember) I found myself stuck. But I wasn’t worried; I knew there were plenty of helpful walkthroughs out there. So I browsed the Internet for the best one I could find. And then I came across the PHB! I liked the PHB enough to revisit it several times. But I didn’t involve myself in the community at first—that is, until the PHB’s Tribal Tournament began in August. Now, this was something I couldn’t resist. I sent in my submissions, and was very surprised when I was crowned MVP!

I joined the PHC Discord community for the end of tournament party, and decided to stick around. I met several online friends there on the Discord server. In the following months, I started writing guest posts for the PHB and participated in a few other contests. By that point, you could say I’d put myself out there in the Poptropica fandom.

But the most shocking surprise came just this week. I had logged onto Discord, and was typing a message, when I noticed a new DM from Slanted Fish. Curious, I opened it, and it took all my willpower not to scream when I saw the invitation to join the PHB team!

I won’t deny that I had considered becoming a PHB author, but the fact that it was really happening was unbelievable! The down-to-earth side of me tried to convince myself the invite was just a dream, but I knew it wasn’t. Ecstatic, I accepted the offer. And that just about brings us to where we are today. I’m super excited to be part of the PHB staff, and can’t wait to see what happens next!

New author, Sporty Boa, slides in

“Sporty Boa” by napstachill

Greetings, everyone!

Yep, I’m Sporty Boa, the Poptropica Help Blog’s newest author, and I’m just as surprised as you are! What can I say except that I’m feeling extremely humbled, blessed, and honored to be chosen by the PHB team to be, well, part of the PHB team.

Who am I? Sporty Boa’s the name, but you can call me SB for short. I’m just a teen with big dreams, big hair, and a huge love for Poptropica!

Besides playing and blogging about Pop, I also busy myself in other hobbies such as sports (mainly basketball), reading (Bravelands & Warriors are some of my favs), and playing video games. And I can’t forget to mention that I have three amazing pets (two cats and a bunny), plus other animals I take care of outside my home. (I really love animals!)

Shout-out also to my family, who’ve always been there for me and actually introduced me to Poptropica! My sister was the first to show me the game when I was just a nerdy third-grader, and as for my younger brother, Fierce Flyer… let’s just say he’s found his place within the community. Excited to blog with ya, bro! 🙂

Anyway, when I first started blogging on the Sporty Boa Blog, my slogan was: “Great experiences make great stories.” For me, Poptropica was more than just an awesome game — it was an awesome experience, one that I just can’t wait to share with you guys.

Thanks again to everyone, the staff and the readers, for accepting me as the PHB’s newest author. Boa out!

A Happy New Author is Popping In!

Hey there, Poptropicans!

My name is Happy Lobster, but since I’m more commonly known as HL for short, you can just call me that. And, as many of you might have guessed by now, I am the newest PHB author! My username on Poptropica is topkop88, so feel free to add me any time you like.

as1

I’m a 14-year-old boy, and I live in Australia. The amazing Poptropica community is now a colossal part of my life, and I’ve been around amongst it for about a year now, but I’ve been blogging since April. But when I’m not chatting on the PHC and blogging, a few of my favourite pastimes are reading, drawing, table tennis, reading some more, and playing the saxophone and piano – just to name a few.

Anyway, you may know me from the two guest posts I’ve done here on the PHB in the past: Popspiracy: Origins of Poptropica, of which I wrote alongside Shaky Skunk and Tall Cactus; and Pop 5: Worst Islands of Poptropica; the latter of which would be a little fresher in your memories. Likewise, you may also recognise me from my own blog, A Quota of Poptropica, which you should really check out (totally not shameless self-advertising 😉). Or maybe you’ve just never heard the words ‘Happy’ and ‘Lobster’ strung together before now, but that’s fine, by all means. 😛

I also work on two other Poptropica fansites: the Poptropica Skunk Blog and Clawtropica, two superb blogs that I also highly recommend you check out.

With that said, I’m definitely looking forward to the incoming chapters of my time here at the PHB – and, again, I would like to thank the blog for granting me this wonderful opportunity to work here! See you soon, and remember to stay popping!

A Perfect Introduction to a New Author

Hey everyone

My name is Perfect Sky, but you can call me PS for short. Lots of you may already know me from the PHC, my YouTube channel, or the guest posts I’ve previously written for the PHB.

So, as some of you probably heard on the PHC, my birthday was two days ago. Before my birthday, I already knew what most of my gifts would be. They mostly consisted of money, gift cards, and chocolate, which is pretty much all I wanted. But little did I know when I woke up in the morning, that I would receive a message from Fishy that evening, inviting me to join the PHB. I was shocked!

Now, for some background. I started playing Poptropica in February 2008, so I’ve absolutely loved the game for nearly 9 years now. My very first Poptropican was named Sticky Foot, although I don’t remember the username. I made several different Poptropicans, until I finally made my current account in 2009, and decided to stick with it. My username is stupiddirectord, if you want to friend me. I still don’t know why I chose that username, all I remember is that I just completed Spy Island on a different account, and I was mad at Director D.

In the summer of 2013, I created a YouTube channel, where I post Poptropica movies. I was originally inspired to make Pop videos by a channel called PoptropicaStars, which had a series called Fashion Fever. Yeah, I was obsessed. So, I’ve been making videos for a few years now.

Joining YouTube was my first experience in the Poptropica community. However, I didn’t know how big the community actually was until I joined Discord this past summer. I don’t want to keep blabbing on about this, so feel free to check out my MPIP for more details.

Well, that’s all for now. Once again, I want to thank all the authors for this amazing opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to posting here on the PHB!
