Fairytale’s fate left to fans with flair โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

Hey Poptropicans! This post comes to you with a few updates: an official contest, the return of a legend, and more fan art features. Let’s pop in!

First, the Pop Creators have announced a Fairytale Fanfic Challenge, calling Poptropicans to write an original ending for Fairytale Island.

Acknowledging that questions were left unanswered in the island’s ending, the Creators decided this little contest would be a fun way to open it up to us to decide what happens next for the characters we’ve come to know and love. Questions such as…

  • Where did Rumpelstiltskin disappear to? Will he ever return?
  • What does the princeโ€™s fate hold? Will he have to get a job?!
  • What comes of the new happy endings for Red, Snow, and Cinder?
  • What friendship blossoms between Little Red Riding Hood and the Seven Dwarves?
  • Does Snow White open her veterinary practice?
  • Do the Huntsman and Cinderella fall in love? Hopefully the Huntsmanโ€™s left behind his homicidal hijinxโ€ฆ
  • And what did Rumplestiltskin do with the real king?

The Fairytale Fanfic Challenge is open from now until next Friday, May 21 at 8 pm PST. Send your rewritten ending as text or a file attachment to Poptropica’s submissions form for a chance to win some credits and be featured on the Creators’ Blog!

But also, what about that lackluster ending to Fairytale Island? While it’s exciting to get everyone’s creative juices flowing with these fanfiction writing prompts, fans also want to experience more complete narratives in the game itself, from the creators themselves.

The creators haven’t made any promises on changing the island’s ending in the game or adding an Episode 2, though some of the island’s dialogue hints at it. Could this be a compromise for wanting to add more but not having the time and resources to do it just yet? And is this what Perfect Crab, the Dream Island winner, envisioned for Fairytale Island? Whatever the case, at least we’ll be seeing some semi-canonical conclusions with the fanfic challenge…

While we’re talking Fairytale Island, a very special video playthrough dropped just this week. Some of you may recognize Thinknoodles, the popular gaming YouTuber who got his start years ago with Poptropica walkthroughs. Although he doesn’t play much Pop now, he dropped by with a “Road to Captain Thinknoodles” let’s-play for the OGs!

The vid starts with (a younger looking) Think playing through the new Home Island mini quest, but he soon makes his way to Fairytale Island, where he intensifies the jumpscare of the forest wolf, appreciates the “aged up” jokes, and even sings along to Cinder’s guitar riff. Enjoy!

Last but not least, here’s the latest round of fan art features from the creators’ Instagram stories, with OCs and villains galore:

That concludes this update! You’ve got about a week to come up with a better happily-(or sadly?)-ever-after for Fairytale Island and might win some credits for it. Plus, rack up some more by playing through the new Lost Cubs mini quest. ๐Ÿป Keep on popping on, Poptropicans! โœŒ๏ธ

Lost Cubs, Survival Island

Cub your enthusiasm for the Lost Cubs Mini Quest ๐Ÿป

Hey, Poptropicans! After an accidental leak and two sneak peeks, the Lost Cubs Mini Quest is now here for all players!

You can start the rescue mission by one of two ways. The first way is to visit Home Island and talk to Ishmael, who is being crushed by a sad mama bear. The second way is that you can fly to the quest, which can be found on the first page of the map.

Starting the quest greets you with a comic explaining that the mama bear lost her cubs in the wilderness of Survival Island. Now it’s our job to help reunite this fuzzy family! Click “Start” to begin the quest!

As some of you already know, the Lost Cub Mini Quest was prematurely released earlier this month. How does the finished product compare to the leak? The gameplay is exactly the same with the player needing to collect the five cubs, akin to some of Pop’s ad games. While the gameplay is the same, there is a lot more going on visually in the final version. Leaves and grass are blown by the strong wind, and the blizzard makes finding the cubs a bit more difficult.

Thankfully, unlike the leak, completing the quest doesn’t take you to an infinite loading screen. Finding the cubs on your first playthrough rewards you with a heartwarming reunion, a humble 250 credits, and a cute Lost Cub Mini Quest follower (which can actually roar)!

In the Creators’ behind-the scenes look at the quest, it was stated that players could replay the quest multiple times to earn more credits. UPDATE: The Creators’ Blog clarified that 250 credits should be awarded for the first playthrough, followed by 50 for each subsequent play. (In the first day of release, some players have reported earning 50, 20, or even no credits at all! If you’re having this issue, contact Pop support.)

And that was the anticipated Lost Cubs Mini Quest! Personally, I thought it was pretty lacking since it’s just a simple collect-a-thon game. It’s also strange that this Survival Island-based mini quest was released before Survival Island’s remaining four episodes were converted to Haxe. We all wish that the Creators would focus more on making and porting islands and less on delivering half-baked side quests.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on this quest? Let us know in the comments below! Thank you all for reading the Poptropica Help Blog and bearing with our unbearable puns! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿป

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Bear to take in the scenery before we set off ๐Ÿป๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Hey, Poptropicans! Yesterday, the Creators shared Part 1 of an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Bear Mini Quest. As promised, they released Part 2 on the night before the quest’s scheduled release. Let’s take a look!

Part 2 of our sneak peek opts to show off a sketch of a wintry forest environment, reminiscent of Survival Island. Ned Noodlehead and the bears are present to show the scale of the snowy scene. And as a fun bonus, we learn that an average Poptropican’s jump height is 224 px.

The Creators confirmed that players can replay the quest as much as they want to earn more credits, so it seems that this quest will act as a credit farm like the app-exclusive Reality TV: Wild Safari. If you do plan on replaying this quest, you should know that the cubs’ locations will be randomized for each playthrough. Expect to find those cubs in some unexpected places.

Keep your eyes open for the Bear Mini Quest, which is scheduled to release tomorrow, May 13th!

Over on Instagram, the Creators shared three new pieces of fan art. Instagram user cacaocheri drew some art of their OC Cuddly Flame, and arts.n.darts drew two pictures highlighting Copy Cat and Betty Jetty from Super Power Island.

Nice as usual, but the official Poptropica Instagram account made an unusual comment. On the Betty Jetty post from arts.n.darts, they commented, “Does the character have a name?” Weโ€™ll just say it: itโ€™s pretty embarrassing to forget about a major character from your own game. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Anyway, what are your hopes for this upcoming quest? How will the it compare to the accidental leak? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Fairytale fever and villain fan art ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

In case you missed it, the PHB’s also released resources for the island, with a Fairytale Island Guide containing a written walkthrough, pics, and trivia, as well as our Fairytale Island Review where we shared our thoughts on this new adventure (and enjoyed yours in the comments). The creators even dropped their thanks on our Instagram post!

Speaking of Instagram, the Pop creators have been back at it with more fan art features on their story! Check out the latest gallery:

It sure is fun to see different takes on Poptropica characters old and new, and Rumplestiltskin is fast becoming another fandom favorite! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

A fairy whimsical walkthrough with fashionably late fan art ๐Ÿงš ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ

Hey there everybody! Purple here with a couple tidbits of news on Fairytale Island; and the long-awaited winners of its own fan art challenge. Let’s pop to it!

As you’ll see on their official YouTube channel, the Poptropica Creators recently posted a brand-new video spotlighting none other than good old Fairytale Island itself! In this video, Silent Frog from Poptropica HQ brings us on a full walkthrough of the newly released island. (For a written walkthrough, check out the PHB’s Fairytale Island Guide!)

It’s the first time we’re hearing the name Silent Frog, but it’s possible she’s posted for the Creators before without using a screen name, since her character looks familiar. ๐Ÿธ

Silent Frog speaking with the prince on Fairytale Island.

If you watched all the way to the end of this YouTube walkthrough, you’ll find something especially exciting waiting in store. As it turns out, the Creators didn’t entirely forget about the Fairytale Fan Art Challenge, and decided to showcase three promised winners at the end of the video! Congratulations to criahacesium, v.a.m.p.y.r.a, and elisabethian1912 for winning the art contest. (And check out more fairytale fan art features here, here, and here!)

Silent Frog tells us that there was so much talent in the art submissions that the Poptropica team ended up having to randomly pick three winners from a hat, which brings up some suspicions about the delay in announcing the winners (which were originally meant to be revealed on April 23). How did picking names from a hat take such a long time?

We get an answer from an email that the Creators sent to one of the official blog’s guest writers, Invisible Ring, who asked them directly. Ring shared the message with us on our Discord server, the PHC:

As it turns out, they waited to release the winners in their walkthrough video instead of posting it on the date they’d promised. This isn’t the first time they’ve deserted us and only bothered to explain why after a fan directly asked them about it, but at least they apologized for their mistake and are aiming to do better!

Finally, to wrap up this post, the Creators mentioned briefly on their blog that a new fan challenge will be making its appearance sometime soon. I wonder what this one could be? ๐Ÿ‘€

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you all next time!
