PHB Parties

Recap: the PHB’s 2021 Grapple-Pap Party ☃️

Pap-Pap Hooray, it’s Grapple-Pap! ❄️❄️❄️

This weekend, Poptropicans gathered in the Arcade and on our PHC Discord server to celebrate the holiday season with a bout of friendly games, festive outfits, and frolicking cheer. Catch a glimpse of the fun in the collage pic above! 🥳👋

We dressed up and doodled around, connecting with friends and facing our share of disconnections from full Poptropica party rooms. On the PHC, Santa Hare and a host of other Santa villains greeted us with boasts of their Christmastime delinquency. Snowballs were thrown, screen snaps were shared, and so were suspicions of who in the party room might be a Pop Creator — our bet’s on Detective Anna Gram. 🕵️‍♀️

Thanks to all who came out to party with us! We hope you had a blast and are enjoying the holidays, however you celebrate. Happy Grapple-Pap!!

Interpreting the Main Four’s dreams, pt. 1: Dr. Hare 🥕

Hey everyone! In this post, I’m going to be diving into the murky realm of guesswork known as dream analysis.

While not always accurate, dream analysis offers insight into different types of dreams and what they mean. And thanks to Super Villain Island, we’ve got rare peeks into the subconscious minds of Poptropica’s four most infamous villains: Dr. Hare, Black Widow, Binary Bard, and Captain Crawfish. Your dreams can say a lot about you…what do they say about the Main Four? Let’s take a look!

Note: Each dream contains two viewpoints, one from the villain’s perspective and one from the player’s. In this series, we’ll only be focusing on the villain’s viewpoint.

First up, we have our half-rabbit scientist buddy, Dr. Hare! For those of you who aren’t as familiar with the events of Super Villain, Hare’s dream involves being carried into an anthill and kept in an underground room at the bottom for the remainder of the dream.

A recurring dream? 👀

So, what does dreaming of being kidnapped by ants supposedly symbolize? Dreams of being kidnapped and held hostage both indicate feeling powerless or unable to change the circumstances. Ants on the other hand can represent annoyances, issues, or distractions in waking life.

Something that comes to mind when I think of Hare being unable to change the circumstances is the time he unwisely placed the player in control of his rabbot at the end of 24 Carrot Island, and was promptly crushed by incoming asteroids. That’s certainly an annoyance.

Maybe choose your driver more carefully next time.

Another notable aspect of Hare’s Super Villain dream is the ant queen, seated beside Hare in her underground throne room as hundreds of ant servants rush to and fro through the hill.

Queens and royalty commonly symbolize praise, respect, and accomplishments. Hare certainly is an accomplished person; not everyone devises a brilliant scheme to mind control the entire world by way of an enormous rabbot machine! Ignoring the fact that his scheme ultimately failed. Ahem.

One more observation I’ll mention is the size of this dream world. Just look how huge those carrots are! Being tiny in a dream — or maybe Hare was normal sized, and everything else was enormous, either way — likely ties into the feeling of powerlessness already suggested by being kidnapped.

I’d hazard a guess that Hare is reliving the unfortunate (for him, that is) events of 24 Carrot Island within his dream. Feeling that sense of accomplishment upon finishing his mind control device, only to be foiled and trapped by the player, taken out of control and lost into deep space! Except…in the dream, it’s apparently the other way around. And it’s with ants. 🐜

ANTS

That’s all for this post, folks! Stay tuned for my next three dream interpretation attempts coming soon, starring the artsy Black Widow, the mighty Captain Crawfish, and the genius Binary Bard!

Dream on,

~ 💜

A new Dr. Hare minigame? Color me impressed!

Hey, Poptropicans! Yesterday, the Creators posted a teaser image for a new Dr. Hare-themed minigame and offered a way for fans to help make it! Let’s take a look!

The game has a cute retro art style and stars a Dr. Hare who has nearly gone full rabbit. As for gameplay, it seems that you would need to jump up the platforms and reach a checkpoint before time runs out. There are also items like clocks that give extra time, stars that likely give extra points, and spikes that thwart Dr. Hare’s escapades.

This minigame already has a lot going for it; however, it is missing one crucial thing: a name. The Creators are asking fans to come up with a unique title for this new game. Do you have any cool or punny game names? You can send them to the Creators on the Creators’ Blog or on Instagram, The game will be releasing very soon, so hop to it!

With the release of Arabian Nights: How Bazaar on Haxe, Poptropica made four Arabian Nights-themed coloring pages to “keep the sense of adventure alive”. The first page is an elaborately decorated frame, and the other three are characters from Arabian Nights. You can save the pages from the Creators’ Blog to your computer so you can print them or color them digitally.

When you’re done, you can send your newly colored masterpiece (or any Poptropica-related art) to the Creators via the Submissions page. Your art could be featured on the Creators’ Blog or even in Poptropica’s video player! While you’re there, you can also submit an entry for the Create Your Dream Island contest. Who knows? Your dream island might become a reality just like Arabian Nights did.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

PHB Parties, Poppies

Recap: Poppies 2020 awards and party 🥳🏆

Lights? Check. Internet connection? Check. Dr. Beev—wait, come again?

This weekend, we hosted the Poppies, our annual fan-directed Poptropica awards event, in celebration with the PHB’s 12th birthday. And what an event!

Despite the lack of Multiverse rooms (that feature disappeared a while back), just a few classic head-to-head mini-games to play (only Balloons, Sky Dive, and Star Link remain), and our decision to forego the traditional livestream in favor of concentrating our energy on announcing Poppies winners via our PHC Discord chat server, we had fun in the presence of emojis of all kinds (including the beloved Dr. Beev, the Dr. Hare/beaver parody from Mocktropica Island) and hit up the Party Time Tower on Time Tangled and Midas Gym on Mythology to shake the floors with our stellar outfits and groovy dance moves.

But enough about that, right? You want to know who won, and we’re here to bring you the highlights. Our winners for the 2020 Poppies are…

🏆 Gameplay Awards

Spotted: Dr. Hare in despair

Hello, Poptropicans in the know!

Looks like Dr. Hare has had a rough night, as he was seen earlier today on the Poptropica Creators’ Instagram story keeled over, while fellow Poptropica elites Shark Boy and Sir Cador stared straight on with indifference. Nearby blimps surrounded them, ready to give a lift to the hospital.

What’s the problem, doc? Couldn’t get enough carrots to supply your next evil plot? Lost the ability to toy with victims? The Creator who snapped this story certainly doesn’t think he’s up for whatever he’s up to.

Y’know, we’re not entirely sure why we’re still gossiping about this has-been villain who is fast falling into irrelevance considering his last stunt happened more than a year ago, but here we are.

Speaking of relevance, did you hear that Poptropica’s getting a new island? Looks like cheetahs are in, and hares have been beaten out of the race!

xoxo,

— the PHB 😘
