Howdy doodly, Poptropicanos and welcome to the latest installment of Pop Fan Artist Spotlight! This edition highlights an artist who’s become one of my recent favorites due to her exceptionally vivid and captivating artwork: the extraordinary *pause for dramatic effect*Magic Kid (who recently won 1st prize in our Halloween costume contest)!
Magic Kid’s Popsona
I really admire her enthusiastic commitment to creating Poptropica artwork, which has resulted in over one hundred deviations in her gallery to date. A swift glance through her collection will surely captivate anyone. Her signature aesthetic is characterized by its lively, bright, and almost glowy appearance. โจ You can easily feel the passion and joy she invests in each creation, showcasing her true creative spirit. Take a look at this gallery of some of her proudest works:
So pretty, right? ๐ I had a chat with Magic Kid and asked her a few questions about her art, and here’s what she shared with me:
How has your style changed over time?
Iโve had quite a bit of improvement over the years. Iโve become faster at making art, more comfortable with random colors that donโt make much sense, somewhat better at poses, and overall, just become a better artist in ways that are kinda hard to explain. Despite that, drawing hands is still a problem for me. XD
Where do you see yourself as an artist in 5 years?
Iโm not sure where I see my art in five years. Maybe Iโll have a consistent art style by then? Perhaps Iโll learn how to render or draw more realistically? Weโll have to see, I guessโฆ
Thanks for chatting, Magic Kid. Now there’s definitely more art from her to be discovered! Should you wish to explore her work beyond Poptropica, you can find more than 500 pieces on her DeviantArt pageโMagicKidIsArtsy. (Even the page presentation itself looks cool since she’s got core membership. ๐)
And now our spotlight has officially concluded! Thanks for stopping by. Interested in being the next Pop Fan Artist Spotlight? Reach out to me on Discord (search the.lucky.joker on the PHC) or send us an email. Hereโs to celebrating even more Poptropica artists!

Howdy, spooptropicans! Halloween may be behind us, but Iโm here to prolong the excitement for just a little longer as today Iโm going to rank all of the Halloween-related islands in Poptropica.
There are six islands that I believe fit the bill perfectly due to their spoopy nature; a couple of them are even directly themed around Halloween, such as the beloved Haunted House mini-quest, which will also be included in this list albeit not a full-fledged island. (Because duh, right? ๐) Now let’s get started! (Spoilers warning)
#6) Haunted House ๐ชฆ
I feel a bit guilty including this one only to put it at the end, but it just doesnโt stack up against the rest. It lacks a lot of substance which makes sense since it is a mini-island after all. That said, Haunted House definitely gives off those lovely OG Poptropica vibes that I appreciate, especially since itโs from 2009. I enjoyed riding around on the broomstick, solving a few puzzles, and seeing all the classic monster costumes at the party too.
#5) Great Pumpkin ๐
I really like the “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” special and the island is no different. The cartoon was greatly adapted into the world of Poptropica. It’s short and sweet, but effective in its plot and depicting the characters accurately. Great Pumpkin is a cute, light-hearted island filled with many games and tidbits that make for a very fun play. My favorite parts were the ones with Snoopy. There’s also a Halloween party in this one as well some trick-or-treating involved. Perfect!
#4) Vampire’s Curse ๐ง
(I felt really proud of myself after completing this one and memorizing exactly how to do it with every subsequent playthrough. ๐ค) Although Vampire’s Curse might not be the most thrilling experience, it is quite complexโand being alone in Bram’s secluded castle definitely cranks up the scare factor. The artists really outdid themselves with this gorgeous island. The largely monochromatic color scheme is oddly satisfying, and the gothic buildings paired with the ominous thunder and rain create a lot of visual appeal. There’s also a romance plot that is both dramatic and sentimental woven here. However, I think the next island tells a romance story that is even better…
#3) Ghost Story ๐ป
There are so many eerie places on Ghost Story that keep you on your toes as if you’re just waiting for a jump scareโespecially the cemetery. And letโs be real, hearing Fiona’s voice from behind you was startling. While the setting itself is cool, it isn’t anything extraordinary; That’s not always a bad thing though. The true highlight of this island is its storytelling. The emotional love triangle storyline and the topic of death set this island apart from the others in a really cool way. It’s very mature for Poptropica standards. This would’ve been a great island for the creators to bring back considering the aging fanbase, but alas, this dream will never come true. RIP ๐
#2) Zomberry ๐ง
This one brings back a lot of fond memories for me, so Iโm aware I might be a little biased here. Zomberry is my second favorite island from 2013, and itโs claiming the silver spot in my rankings once again. Like the previous two islands, the setting is dark and scary, but this time with our character wandering through a city taken over by zombies. I find the zombiesโ blueberry designs pretty amusing, and theyโre not really a threat in the end; still, itโs a pretty horrific scenario. Zomberry is a pretty awesome island for introducing us to memorable characters like DJ Saturday Nite and Gamer Guy, along with plenty of action when youโre battling those zomberries.
#1) Monster Carnival ๐ช
I realize this pick might come off as a bit obvious since this island was my top choice in my recent 2014 islands ranking, but I canโt help that I love it so much! The 6-year mystery leading up to its release still gets me excited like a total geek. Monster Carnival does a wonderful job of combining the playful atmosphere of a carnival with the elements of a horror movie. The soundtrack, the monsters, and Ringmaster Ravenโwhoโs one of the best villains and characters in the gameโreally elevate this island to another level and make it truly special to me.
And there it is! How many of these islands have you played, and what does your ranking look like? Also, how did you celebrate Halloween? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
I’m grateful to all of you for reading, and I look forward to our next conversation. Until then, stay awesome and pop on! ๐

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Magic Kid. Enjoy!
Alright Poptropicans! Magic Kid is back again with the final part of the fanfiction, Murder at Myronโs. (Read parts 1, 2, & 3 first! ๐)ย
The villains are pointing fingers, investigating, and analyzing everything and everyone in order to figure out who murdered Myron Van Buren. It’s extremely difficult, however, to figure out. All the shifty suspects are 100% capable and dangerous, but all claim innocence.
They had just discovered a secret tunnel and some more interesting variables when another well-knownโ yet uninvitedโ villain turned up. More contention will break out as they blame the newly arrived Dr. Hare for the murder. But what happens to him, to our Narrator Merlin, and to every villain at that dinner-gone-wrong?
Youโll have to read this shocking conclusion to the series in order to find out for yourself what happens in the endโฆ
Murder at Myronโs
Part 4/4
All the Villains except Dr. Hare were shock-quiet as Dr. Hare, pink bunny suit and all, stepped inside in the warm house and shivered in the sudden temperature change. And then more chaos, more arguing, and just more contention in general broke out for probably the millionth time that evening.
Captain Crawfish pinned Dr. Hare against the Lincoln Log style walls of the cabin and shouted at him. โWHY DID YOU KILL MYRON? AND TO HAVE THE NERVE TO COME BACK TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME LIKE AND INNOCENT LITTLE SHRIMP? HOW DARE YOU, RABBIT!โ
Everyone else was ganging up on Dr. Hare and joining in on the shouting now. โI see how it is! You got mad you weren’t invited and decided to get a little bit of revenge, right? Daphne poked at him.
โNโno! I got anโโ
I was accidentally pushed roughly against the wall by the villains gathering and this kind of behavior continued.
โWho are you working with?โ demanded Mademoiselle Moreau, who had been the one to discover that breakthrough of the window having to have been unlocked from the inside.
โWhy would you DO this?โ asked Ringmaster Raven angrily.
โMโMyronโs dโdead?โ Dr. Hare asked, barely managing to talk because of Crawfishโs grip on his throat.
โAYE, YOU MUCK OF SLIMEโโ
โWhat should we do with him?โ Director D asked in cold rage.
Gretchen replied in equal anger โI donโt know! I think we should just let Crawfish have him at the moment!โ
โNo! Waitโ I didnโtโโ
โWhy else would you come here uninvited?!โ Mordred shouted.
