Pop Fan Artist Spotlights, Realms

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: Realms from Hawkeye4077 🌎🔨

Hey Poptropicans, welcome to a special edition of the Pop Fan Artist Spotlight series! This fan artist we’re featuring today isn’t your traditional kind of artist—instead, he creates his masterpieces on Poptropica Realms. Introducing: Hawkeye4077, aka Zany Ice!

Hawkeye’s work with Realms imitates large and noteworthy characters and landmarks from various sci-fi and adventure films and other media, from The Iron Giant to How to Train Your Dragon to Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Click on the images to see all the detail within!

You may recognize Hawkeye’s Poptropican name, Zany Ice, which was recently featured for a Video of the Week by the Pop Creators. But he’s been working on more than just the Wolfwalkers ad video! Here’s one that compiles all his MOCs (My Own Creation) — including more than the ones shown above — into an impressive photo slideshow:

In another video, Zany Ice gives us a look at the process of making one of his Realms creations, the Grimlock from Transformers:

It’s been a hot minute since the Flash-based Realms (Poptropica’s sandbox creative world) has gotten much attention from Poptropica, and with Flash in its final days, who knows if it’ll return after it’s gone. But Realms did disappear before due to bugs with the old Flash technology, and after much player demand, was resurrected by the Creators a year later. Maybe the same thing can happen again?

In any case, we hope you enjoyed this look into some of the many possibilities that Realms offers. Perhaps it even inspired you to give this fun sandbox game one last spin before its candle goes out with (a) Flash? 🕯 You might find our Realms Guide helpful!

Thanks, Hawkeye4077, for sharing your Realms of wonder with us! 🌎 You can find him on our Discord server, the PHC, sharing other kinds of creations too, like peeks into his comic, Iron Volt. Join the fun on the PHC!

Pole vault your way to a vault of Poptanium

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish popping in with what’s new. In this post, we’ve got the latest island no longer in beta, a Poptropolis Games fix, and a Realms highlight. Let’s get to it!

First, there’s Reality TV: Wild Safari Island, which was released last month on CoolMathGames as a beta for all players, including non-members. It’s now officially on the map on Poptropica.com, but currently only open to members (even on CoolMathGames).

Whether or not you’ve had the chance to play it yet, you can check out what the PHB team thought of it over on our Reality TV: Wild Safari Island Review, and look forward to the island being officially released for all soon!

The Pop Creators also recently announced that they fixed a bug on the pole vault game on Poptropolis Games Island. Now you can actually, you know, vault the pole. Hooray!

And Blue Tooth really rocks that little baby shark beanie well, don’t you think? 🦈 (That hat was one of the July member gifts, by the way.)

Blue Tooth also recently highlighted a Realm on Poptropica’s social media. Once you enter through the Realms portal on Home Island, Smart Bones’ “Labyrinth” can be accessed via the code 9rw56.

Though there is Poptanium to be found along the way, be warned: the Realm is more labyrinthine challenges than Poptanium vault. Still, if you like a good platforming struggle, this place is worth checking out. (If you prefer the Poptanium, though, we feature some good vaults in our Realms Guide.)

While it’s nice to see Realms featured by Poptropica, which hasn’t happened in a while, I can’t help but wonder whatever happened to the Look of the Week series and the yet-to-be-realized Clubhouse of the Week. Hmmm? 😛

That’s all for the latest in Poptropica! Share your thoughts in the comments, and keep it awesome, Poptropicans. ✌️

Realms

Realms returns—at long last!

Hey Poptropicans! Remember Realms, that magical sandbox universe where you could create any landscape of your imagination with a range of tools, textures, and things?

And remember how it just stopped working over a year ago, and has been down ever since? Well, good news: as promisedit’s finally back, by popular demand!

You can access it via a fancy new portal on Home Island, above the movie theater. So head on over there, say hello to those furry creatures running rampant, and get creating!

Here on the PHB, we’ve got a comprehensive Poptropica Realms Guide designed to help you get situated with the massive opportunities that lie ahead. From making sense of the Svadilfari hammer to visiting other players’ Realms, we’ve got you covered!

Thrown for a Loop: the return of Realms and more

What’s up, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here, and I’m very excited to share some uplifting news with you all today.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Creators’ Blog and Poptropica in general, you’ve probably noticed they’ve been pretty silent and stagnant as of late. Well, the silence has been broken with the announcement of several things.

Most notably, Realms will be back! As the official blog put it: “We know, it never actually left the map, but now it will work!” (Read more about this feature on our Realms Guide.)

poptropica realms

It’s been down due to technical issues for over a year, to the frustration and disappointment of many Poptropicans. We surely doubted Poptropica would ever do anything about it, but boy did they prove us wrong!

Realms was definitely one of Poptropica’s most popular features, so perhaps this rebirth will bring back a lot of players who enjoyed the sandbox creation world, which was sometimes known as Pop’s version of Minecraft.

Also on the Creators’ Blog, the Creators have posted a bit of an explanation as to why they’ve been so quiet. Here’s the gist of it (our emphases added):

pop_constructionLet’s just say, Poptropica has been “under construction.” All the great people who work on Poptropica got together this month to plan a bunch of updates to Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds! We’ve been super busy behind the scenes fixing things, building new things, and working on bringing back some fan favorites! We’ve gone through all your amazing feedback from this year and have a lot of great stuff in the works!

The rest of that post promises some of this “great stuff” we can look forward to:

  • monthly updates (which will be inclusive to all players, not just members)
  • more contests (with an all-new contest coming up next week!)
  • a behind the scenes look every week at what they’re working on

Very exciting to hear! The PHB will be following right along as always, so keep checking in with us to see what’s new!

I’m also here to walk you through a Froot Loops advertisement, which can be found on Home Island of Poptropica Original. It’s pretty self-explanatory — just run, jump, and grab all the Froot Loops cereal!

froot loops 3

You’ll have four minutes to grab all fifty Froot Loops. (Don’t worry, it only took me around a minute.) One you do so, you’ll win a fun Froot Loops Blaster (press spacebar to throw Froot Loops) and a Toucan Sam Follower!

Last but not least, don’t forget to enter our PHB Header Design Contest and our Community Creations for August. 🎨 You have until the end of this week!

So how are you feeling about the upcoming contests and updates? Oh right, we don’t know exactly what they are yet... Still, I’m feeling hopeful and quite happy about them. What about you?

Comment below, thanks for reading, and I’ll talk to you all soon. Pop on!

Pre-Realms Tour: The Land of Chole

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Sticky Clown, in which he gives a tour of his Pre-Realms Land creation, Chole. Enjoy! –🐠)

chole

Hello everyone! I am Sticky Clown, or SC if you’d like. I go by Starving Cereal on WordPress.

Today I wish to show you something a bit old, just for fun to distract from the Poptropica World stuff going on currently. It is my old home. As in, from Poptropica Land (that was the prototype before Realms, for those who don’t know). Now, a few of you who have known me since ye old glory days may object to what I am doing, as I have previously posted this on a few other blogs. But the reason I’m doing this is – well, there’s many. They are:

  1. While Poptropica Land is about three years old, it’s still very similar to Realms and should be easy to digest. Plus, I’d say this can qualify as a period piece.
  2. This is not going to be the exact same as that post I’ve made elsewhere. I have added several extra thoughts as well as some modifications. This is going to be 2-3 times as big as the original, at least.
  3. Soon I hope to be doing a tour of my Realms, Chole (the code for that is 3vpqv, if you’re interested in checking it out for yourself </plug>). Think of this as a prelude to my adventure, a point which you can use for comparison.
  4. And finally… I’m an egocentric bigoted unsatisfiable superficial narcissist hungering for infinite fame on the interwebs, ready to repost old posts just to gain more attention, even if it is based on a game aimed towards children.

So yeah, I think I’ve justified myself sufficiently. Let’s start on this wonderful journey, shall we? 🙂

To start, here is the bridge to my house – my first ever build!

Yeah… it’s a bit crappy. I’m not very fond of this myself, and that’s discarding everything else I’ve built. Let’s concentrate on the bridge as we cross it with my Mocktropica Narf companion, Narfy.
