St. Patrick’s Day gifts – Leprechaun Follower and Costume!

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and Poptropica is recognizing this with a couple of free items – the Leprechaun Costume from the Store is free for today, and a new Leprechaun Follower which can only be obtained if you visit Mythology Island. Odd placement!

On the follower, it says to go the 24 Carrot Island diner, mix yellow and blue, and drink it to get green hair. It also has a button that allows you to travel to the diner.

For the costume, if you press space bar while wearing it, you’ll do a comical little Irish jig! Here’s a gif of Skinny Moon doing the dance.

It’s also notable that the post on the Creators’ Blog about these items is the first post by “Skinny Moon” (Jessica from social media). I’m excited to see future posts from her! 🙂

Hey Poptropicans!

As some of you may have noticed, a few days ago, Realms disappeared from the map! A new post on the Creators’ Blog explains what’s going on: they’re fixing a glitch. From the words of the Captain:

Never fear, Poptropicans, because all the Realms you created are safe — they’re only temporarily unavailable. In our latest update to Poptropica, a bug in the code base disabled Realms. We’re actively working on squashing this pesky bug and restoring Realms as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and will update you as soon as we have more information.

We’re not sure when Realms will be back, but we hope it’s soon! 🙂 Better go enjoy Poptropica’s latest update (Valentine’s Photo Booth) instead – after all, look what it cost to get that up. 😛

Meanwhile on social media, Skinny Moon/Jessica (Poptropica’s social media person) recently had another spontaneous common room party, where she brought out her pink guitar! We missed it, but Poptropican tweeter Josh (@IcyStorm9) was there and shared a picture.

Speaking of Skinny Moon, I recently drew her Popsona (Poptropica persona) and shared it on Twitter and DeviantArt. Not long after seeing it, she joined DeviantArt as PopGirlJess and became a member of a couple of dA Poptropica groups, including the one the PHB uses, We-Love-Poptropica!

Snow on Home Island, Hula Hare, Realms, & more!

Hey Poptropicans!

First of all, it’s snowing on Home Island (and also on the PHB)! Fancy. The NPC (non-player character) in front of the Shop is wearing a costume that fluctuates between yeti and Jack Frost, and the other NPCs are carrying candy canes. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

If you take the blimp over to Poptropica Realms, there’s a new loading screen featuring Dr. Hare playing with a blue hula hoop! You can also see this in action with this link. So far, this only seems to appear before Realms is loaded. (Thanks to Happy Panda for the tip!)

Speaking of Realms, the Creators haven’t posted much in the way of Remarkable Realms as of late – until just recently, when they featured Loud Chicken’s “Esador City” on the official blog! To visit this magnificent cityscape, use the Realms code 72pyj.

There’s also a few things going on relating to the Poptropica graphic novel – the first volume, Mystery of the Map, will be released March 1, 2016 in bookstores, and if you’re a US resident, you can even enter this giveaway on Goodreads for a chance to win a copy of the book!

Hey Poptropicans! Spooky spectacles are afoot!

Black Widow has been hinting at something to come to the Photo Booth: “It might not be a bad idea to start practicing your Halloween photos in the Photo Booth. But perhaps we’ve said too much… for now.” Are the Creators trying to one-up us with a Halloween contest of their own??

Whatever’s up with that, it can’t hurt to make something cool with the Halloween props in the Photo Booth on Home Island, because it might just win you a free membership if you enter the PHB’s 7th Annual Halloween Contest! It doesn’t end ’til Halloween. Check out this PHB post for all the details!

There’s also a Magnus Chase ad on Main Street of Mythology Island. (Magnus Chase is a new book series by Rick Riordan.) To win this mini-game, just run up to the top-right corner and hop into the blue portal! Watch out for the Ratatosk and raven along the way.

When you get there, you’ll win a Ratatosk Follower and a costume (Sam for girls; Blitzen for boys)!

Plus, album photos for Timmy Failure Island (walkthrough here) are now available! The island came out a month ago for members without photos, but better late than never – although, why does only one picture get a caption? 😛

In other news, Poptropica’s Twitter is no longer in the hands of Poptropica CEO Jess Brallier! According to this tweet, someone else on the Poptropica team now manages all their social media. Hmm.

Another tweet from Poptropica tells us that there’s been an update in Realms: “Monsters now eat, can become nicer, and will drop Poptanium when full!” Check out our Poptropica Realms Guide for more tips and tricks about Realms!
