PHB Special: Guess That Poptropican, Round 3

Hola amigos! Quite a few of you thought it would be fun if I held a third round of Guess That Poptropican, and that’s exactly what I’m here to do! If you don’t know what the game is about, check out the first round for instructions. For those of you that do know the drill, the same rules apply. Can you guess a random Poptropica character from a small number of clues? Let’s see. Good luck!

In order for your answers to be considered correct you’ll need to list the exact name of the character in its entirety (some characters may have multiple names so either is acceptable). The first person to get all 6 correct will win a drawing of their Poptropican by me. (You can check out my gallery on DeviantArt or Instagram for a reference of my art.)

Clubhouse

Cozy Clubhouse Tour: Slanted Fish ✨

Hey Poptropicans, welcome back to Slanted Fish’s clubhouse!

You might have seen my other crib with its displays of mystical objects, but this time we’ll be visiting another room within my ~~aquarium~~ home sweet home. Come on in! Let’s turn the mood lights on.

Can I get you something to drink? A hot beverage is always nice, and we have some bites in the fridge too. Don’t mind Mr. Fantastic Fox over there — he just keeps guard over the valuables in the safe and guzzles away at the snacks. Sometimes you can catch him dancing to the beats playing upstairs in the AV entertainment corner!

Across from the kitchen on the other side, you’ll find a comfy nap spot, complete with a curtain cover to block out the outside world. Great for climbing into bed without climbing up anywhere!

Meanwhile, on the floor above, the pets have their chill-out space too. My kitty, El Mustachio Venti, quite likes curling up in the basket—when the armadillo doesn’t beat her to it.

Further up, you’ll find my inflatable Poptropica blimp! You know you’re in the halls of a Poptropica explorer when you see one of these. Elsewhere, there’s an assortment of knickknacks I’ve collected over my travels, from adventuresome animals to hoards of books.

Now we get into the sanctuary—the bedroom proper! This is the place for lounging around in bed, watching the jellyfish float or seeing what’s on TV. Plus, I’m a proud plant parent and always looking to collect more greenery. And hey, my rainbow sweater matches the popsicle pic!

Finally, off to the top right, we have a little corner of madness. Who makes the best pose: me, the dragon, or the wild Venus flytrap?

Popular Poptropican: Gentle Dolphin

Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s LJ here with Gentle Dolphin in the third installment of our Popular Poptropicans – Poptropica Help Blog staff lineup. Gentle Dolphin joined the PHB a couple of years ago and has since stayed on top of reporting Poptropica news. In addition to that, you may recall her massive artistic involvement in our Flash Experience and “Smash! Crackle! Pop!” pranks. Let’s get to know her even further, shall we?

1. What do you enjoy about blogging with the PHB?

I like being able to work with other people who have similar interests, even if those interests are as niche as a 2007 computer game. Some of my favorite PHB memories involve partying in the PHC Discord server and creating wonderfully dumb April Fool’s pranks (the 2020 prank being my favorite).

2. What advice would you give to aspiring bloggers or writers in general that you wish you had starting out?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help or critique; it’s nice to have feedback before you publish your work. On the flip side, trust your instincts if you think something will enhance your writing.

3. What is your favorite island and villain?

Big Nate is my favorite island nostalgia-wise, Ghost Story is my favorite island story-wise, and Super Villain is my favorite island design-and-concept-wise. As for my favorite villains, it would be the Super Power Island crew. Although they aren’t the most complex villains, they are a fun collection of villains to take on. Also, BlazingAngel123‘s take on them made me love them more.

4. What challenge in the game has been the hardest to complete in your opinion?

For me, that challenge was the Thunder Volt arcade game from Wimpy Boardwalk‘s bonus quest. It’s the only bonus quest I haven’t completed. Sorry I couldn’t help you, Greg. 😢

5. What is your favorite feature (still here or gone) from the many years of Poptropica?

I agree with many fans that the biggest lost feature is the multitude of islands. As Lone Axe said it best, the game feels gutted ever since the death of Flash. The Creators are hard at work converting everything to Haxe, but it’s going to be a while until we see everything come back.

6. What is your favorite Poptropica item?

That’s a hard question to answer since there are hundreds of items in the game! If I have to pick one, it would be the Forest Amulet from Twisted Thicket Island. It’s a lot of fun to transform and harness the powers of nature, even if you can only use the amulet on one island. 😅

7. What is your favorite Poptropica Easter egg/secret/reference?

I’m not sure if anyone else knows about this one. When you visit Mother Leeds’s house on Cryptids Island, the dishes on the table will shake when you get close to them. It certainly spooked me when I first noticed it. 😱

A new mini-quest?! May we bear witness? 🐻👀

Hey, Poptropicans! Gentle Dolphin here with news surrounding our favorite computer game. We’ll be taking a look at May’s new member gifts, some Instagram art features, and a mysterious new mini-quest. Let’s dive in!

A new month means new member gifts! The members of May will receive a colorful Rainbow Kite, a soaring Pump Rocket, and a somewhat dated LED Fidget Spinner. If you’re interested in owning these items, you can become a member by purchasing a membership or entering the PHB’s Free Membership Giveaway!

On April 30th, a new mini-quest appeared on Home Island but was deleted later that day. Where did it come from, and where did it go? Our theory is that the Creators accidentally released the quest too early then swiftly deleted it when they realized what happened. This is supported by a notification on the Messages app, teasing an upcoming mini-quest.

Here’s what we know about the quest so far: you encounter poor Ishmael on Home Island, who is being crushed by a sad momma bear. You offer to help the two by finding the bear’s five lost cubs in a snowy forest reminiscent to the wilderness of Survival Island.

It seems that you would receive something after completing this quest, but the game gets stuck on an infinite loading screen after you collect all five cubs. It’s good to know that the Creators are now taking the time to remove bugs for the final release, but it’s still strange how the quest got accidentally leaked in the first place. We’ll have to wait and see what the full quest has in store.

Last but not least, the Creators featured some more art on their Instagram stories. We have a dozen creative pieces ranging from Poptropica edits to illustrations. Look, there’s also some fan art for the new Fairy Tale Island!
