Smart Bubbles here, with another Poptropica news and store update! As many of you know, this September marks Poptropica’s 14th birthday!

The Creators made this blog post marking the event. It’s odd to think so many players are younger than the game itself (though I can’t relate)!

Along with the expected hype, the Creators also announced that “players will have access to exclusive, FREE costumes…generous credit opportunities, and rereleased mini games from Pop’s past.”

It will be interesting to see how far back they go with the last one. I never really got a chance to play the previous Hoptropica. Or perhaps they might even bring back true classics like the Haunted House, just in time for Halloween!

The Creators also encouraged submission of fan creations to social media, of any form (as long as it’s age appropriate). Work sent through the submissions form or tagged to the Creators will also be submitted for a chance in the birthday exhibition! (And if you’re into video, fans are hosting Poptropica Month as well.)

Along with birthday announcements, we also have some store additions: Three new costumes have arrived at Amelia’s Adventure Outfitters: the Oversized Polo, Navy Cardi, and Cool Denim, all of which are currently members-only (and none of which beat the Acidic Dinosaur*). They also restocked some older costumes for non-members: Coolin, Biker, Natural Breeze, and Vibes.

There is also a comeback of some furniture and accessories for the clubhouse, such as a trampoline, wall butterfly, skateboard, and a music speaker.

The September member gifts were also announced and added for premium players: the Scooter Rider, Squishy & Pink, and Karaoke Sparkles. Perhaps we’ll see more cute stress balls resembling other Pop Icons in the future? 🤔

The Creators also promoted membership at the end of the post, giving members a… familiar title.

Poptropica Creators’ Blog

The VIP (Very Important Poptropican) title has been used in the past, for a program created by former Pop social media manager Skinny Moon. It was intended to reward fans who were especially dedicated to the game through blogging or art or social media.

Sadly, beyond identifying some members and an exclusive beta preview of Poptropica Worlds (now defunct), the program never really took off (though the PHB is proud to retain its VIP badge in our sidebar). Now, the VIP name seems to have taken on a whole different, capitalistic meaning.

Jivin’ with JoJo at Clean Sun’s Clubhouse 💃🌞🏡

What’s up, Poptropicans! We’ll be checking out a sweet clubhouse along with the latest ad that has players moving to the music. Let’s go!

A new ad spot arrived advertising JoJo Siwa’s movie: The J Team. You can find this particular ad on the map or on various islands. The ad spot features Ruby D and Jojo Siwa herself, though it would be funny if the Creators reused BopBop‘s design for JoJo. While it appears to be a simple video ad at first glance, watching the trailer takes you to a JoJo-themed ad game.

This is a simple memory game. JoJo will perform some dance moves, then you need to repeat the moves in the correct order. Each playthrough will randomize the order of moves, so pay attention to what JoJo does on the screen.

Successfully repeating the routine rewards you with a JoJo Siwa outfit and a Sparkle Mic. If you press the spacebar while holding the mic, you can perform a song and dance routine under a blue spotlight. 🎤🎶

A few days ago, the Creators released the second installment of the new Clubhouse Crawl series. This week’s randomly chosen interior decorator is Clean Sun, who decked their virtual home with exotic wildlife and tasty desserts. This Instagram video gives us a quick glimpse into Clean Sun’s clubhouse, but you can read the full tour on the Creators’ Blog.

Clubhouse Tour: Dangerous Shadow 🏡

Hi! The name’s Dangerous Shadow, and imma show you my Poptropica clubhouse!

Let’s do the front entrance. So first, we have a totally awesome skateboard (though I fell and hurt my knee when it tipped over). There’s my diamond skull saying ”Hello” — it’s ever so kind!(lol) And then there’s my bag and cap on that smiley-face-whatever-thing.

Hm, next we have… Oh! The two parts of the living room! There’s the fireplace, which isn’t on right now because it’s summer. Then we have a really nice looking couch. They’re really fluffy, too! And there’s a little stool with a plant cat! Man, it’s cute.

On the other side, I also have a moon chair (I mean I think it’s a moon chair, it looks like one). There’s a very comfy hammock there, and a TV. And then there’s that unicorn thing… I’m pretty sure it’s a pillow, if not, let me know in the comments down below!

Now let’s go to my pets’ room — ugh, what is happening with my eyes there? So anyway, my kitten is named Toast! You can’t see it in the pic, but it’s just a cat with grey fur and a toast head.

My puppy, which you can see there, is named Dino. Here is my dog’s little house. He loves to play with the ball in there. There is some pet food in that bowl, which the pets share, and nearby is my cat’s little home-y kinda thing (I’m not doing well at remembering the names 😦 ). And there is her yarn, which she adores.

Let’s move onto the kitchen now… :OOO Someone hid my chocolate cake behind the bread basket, and I was trying to find it — I wanted my chocolate cake! *jumps up to get it* Almost there! Lol, to tell you the truth, I just never got a table, and I don’t know why! But I do have a fridge, drink machines, and food.

Let’s move onto my bedroom. It’s my favorite part of my whole clubhouse! Okay, I couldn’t get everything into one picture, so I took two. So I have my very comfy bed, with my penguin toy animal holding my phone—hey! What are you doing with it! *penguin just stares* Oh, wait. It’s a toy. Toys don’t talk.

I have a bookshelf. I love love love love to read! I have my grumpy-looking owl lamp there, with a chest full of more books and a couple more toys. I have more books on top of the bookshelf, as well as some lanterns — at least, I think they are lanterns. On the wall I have a pink moon decoration and some pictures of my friends. And I needed those beautiful light-up trees. Okay, onto the other part!

It’s my… gaming station! There’s a gaming chair. It’s pretty comfy. I have two speakers giving off some “Keeping It Loud” vibes. There’s my gaming computer, and you can see there’s that hanging chair with that orange pillow, and of course another one of those light-up trees.

Next we have what is kinda like my chillaxing/calm room. I have my (one) window in here, my music thingy majingy and a huge rainbow beanbag, plus my basketball stuff (okay, basketball isn’t really calming — I just put it there XD). I have my phoenix here too. Say hi, Feather! Oh, he’s in a calm/chillaxing mood. Better close our eyes with him — Dino, I said, “Close your eyes with him!” Hm, Dino ain’t listening to me today.

Interpreting the Main Four’s dreams, pt. 2: Captain Crawfish ⛴

Hello again, and welcome back to another dream interpretation! This time I’ll be investigating the mysterious dream world of the one and only Captain Crawfish.

Upon entering his dream, you see the interior of a ship. Bunk beds and hammocks, occupied by multiple sleeping Crawfish clones, slide back and forth in time to the tilting motion of the floating vessel. It may not seem like the most interesting dream at first glance, but when you view it from a deeper perspective it’s actually quite peculiar. 🧐

First, let’s focus on the main attraction; the various snoozing pirates (who are all just copies of Crawfish himself.) Dreaming of your doppelgangers could represent a multitude of things, but as I’m trying to keep this post a decent length, I’ll stick to the one that intrigued me most: self-reflection over past bad actions. In other words, remorse. Interesting.

Could Captain Crawfish be regretting his evil deeds?

There’s also something else I’ll mention concerning the carbon copies of Crawfish (try saying that five times fast): they’re asleep, and get very annoyed if you run into them and wake them up. Sleeping inside your own dream might mean that you’re oblivious or avoiding a situation during your waking hours. Hmm…

Snoozing away the day…

Moving on from the pirate doppelgangers, here’s something else I found a bit odd. Doesn’t everything in this dream look very old? The entire ship is plastered in barnacles and starfish, and there are cobwebs and algae hanging from the ceiling. If only the sky weren’t visible through those windows, I’d say it’d been sitting at the bottom of the sea for some time.

Someone forgot to clean up!

At this point, I think I have a vague idea of what Captain Crawfish’s dream could mean.

Based off of the carbon copies’ supposed meaning of self-realization, he’s been reflecting on his life of crime, and is starting to wonder whether he did the right thing. Was reducing Fort Ridley and its surrounding islands to little more than rubble really worth a chest of gold? It may seem far-fetched, but I see Crawfish as being the most likely to regret his actions out of the Main Four.

The clones being asleep and the ship having a neglected vibe also fit into this theory. The former represents ignorance and avoidance. Perhaps he now knows deep down what he did was wrong, but is trying to ignore this revelation for fear of damaging his reputation? And as for the apparently neglected ship, maybe he’s been struggling with this problem for a long time. Does he dare redeem himself and risk losing his dignity among the other villains?

Well, that’s all I’ve got to say today, folks. Stay tuned for my next two dream interpretations, and here’s to hoping Captain Crawfish sorts out his internal conflicts!

My Dream Island: Megatropolis by Invisible Ring

Hey there, Poptropicans! It’s been a while, but I think I am ready to showcase my dream island!

Maybe a few of you already know a thing or two about my dream island from my backwater YouTube channel, or from the Poppies 2021 nominations. My original submission to Poptropica’s 2020 Dream Island Contest is found in this little video right here:

 …It was the rush job of a lifetime. All those pages on the video were burned through in the last three weeks of the contest… during finals at the end of the school semester… while trying to make daily holiday advent videos at the SAME TIME!! …Although I was proud of what I made at the time, I almost lost my mind doing it!

The contest came and went, and although this island didn’t win, I’m glad it didn’t, because it gave me the chance to finish what I started. From the beginning of January 2021 all the way to the end of May, I fine-tuned my quest and completed my dream island once and for all. The last thing I did was compile my whole island story into new YouTube videos.

I’m much happier with these videos than I was with that old submission video. (I can’t even look at what’s in the old submission video anymore!) Anyway, enjoy Megatropolis Island told through comic panels in this trailer, five chapters, and even a bonus:
