community-creations-logo

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the August recap for Community Creations! August’s theme was Flight, so be sure to check out all the featured artists (not in any order)!

No clue whatโ€™s going on? Go see our intro post.

Top 5 Picks

Maroon’s Blimp by happyclonetrooper

Wow, this work is stunning, right? The dramatic lighting, dynamic clouds, and wide camera angle make for an intriguing composition to say the least. But beyond that, just look at that cool blimp design! I love seeing a twist on the classic yellow blimp, familiar to any and all players. The alterations seen here make the ride much more interesting and personalized, especially with that clever Maroon Ring logo. Find her Instagram here and check out the blimp design up close.

Adventure Awaits by PegaKid

Adventure awaits!!! This work is filled with tons of joy and excitement, making me want to set off on my own adventure right away. The close up shot of this blimp makes the viewer wonder what lies beyond it and what the characters spot ahead. Plus, who wouldn’t want to travel with such an adorable cat by their side? Find her DeviantArt here.

Full-Power Betty Jetty by AdventurersNHunters

I’m loving this twist on Betty Jetty! Stepping away from her typical pink color scheme, it’s clear that this fully-powered version of her shouldn’t be underestimated. Betty Jetty is an iconic choice for our flight theme, and the green glowing effect really emphasizes her abilities. The skyline is a great addition to the composition and her billowing scarf adds a lot of movement to the scene. Find her DeviantArt here.

Poptober: Blimp by Gentle Dolphin

Uh, you doing ok there, guys? Originally made for the Poptober “Blimp” prompt, this work is excellent. Not only is it made with crisp colors and smooth line art, but it also tells a compelling story. The emotion expressed by the characters is hilarious and honestly pretty relatable for those with a fear of heights. Who really needs a compass to fly anyway… right? I love seeing Amelia in the spotlight, as well as the individually recognizable islands in the background. Find her DeviantArt here.

A New City by Dangerous Dragon

The prince was tired of living in the palace. He wanted to have a normal life. Do hard work. So in the yard of the palace there was a great hot air balloon, left by his great great grandfather. He was the first one to discover and rule Poptropica. Seeing an opportunity to leave as his father/king wasn’t home, he set out on the old hot air balloon.

Well, prince, you shouldn’t have done that. As he left around 4 in the evening, there were great winds. A storm approached. As it was an old balloon, it flew far, far away from the kingdom. He fainted.

He woke up later when the sun was setting. He looked belowโ€”It was nothing like his kingdom. It was a city, but he didn’t know what a city was. Still, he decided to land. He remembered the day he reached the city. He painted this artwork:

When the prince had landed that day, he had asked some people where the land of Poptropica was. They said that the kingdom was here before, but now it was a city. Now he works as a normal person in the city, keeping his secrets close to his heart. To this day, having learned about technology, he is still are astonished because if he was from the olden times, then how did he reach the future? Time travel?

THE END?

Oooh, quite the intriguing story, huh? Plus, the artwork really adds depth to the narrative. I’m already hooked and curious to see where this prince ends up. Though he obviously spends his time flying in a blimp during this short, I have a feeling the real meat of this tale lies in that new city. Who knows? Maybe he just got mixed up on Time Tangled Island? The theme of “flight” is just filled with so much potential for adventure, so I’d love to see this adventure continue! Find Dangerous Dragons often in the comments section.

Honorable Mentions

Wow guys, you really reached new heights this month! I’d say that all these submissions were pretty fly. But before I take off, let’s learn a little about next month’s theme…

September: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what itโ€™s about, itโ€™s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that monthโ€™s theme. So what is September’s theme? September’s theme isโ€ฆ

Punk!

Any punk fans in the audience today? Cinderella’s transformation on Fairy Tale Island got me thinking that this would be a super fun theme for Community Creations. Fans are no strangers to punk edits of their favorite characters, afterall, and Cinder has quickly become a favorite.

If you’re a bit unfamiliar with what punk means, don’t worry, you’ll pick it up quite quickly! I’m talking black eye liner and black nail polish, I’m talking mohawks, choker necklaces, plaid pants, and rock music. Anything a bit edgy and alternative works, as long as it stays appropriate. Just take some inspiration from Cinder!

Maybe make some Cinder fan art, or redesign a Poptropica villain with a more punk aesthetic. Create your own in-game punk outfit, or even write a story about Cinder’s first poppin punk concert.

  • Submit: Comment below with a link to whatever youโ€™ve created, email it to the PHB team on our Contact page, OR share it with me (SydVC aka Spotted Dragon) on DeviantArtTwitter, or Discord.
  • Results: Next month, I will feature 5 submissions that stood out to me the most as well as some honorable mentions.
  • Limitations: Just make sure you relate to both the theme and Poptropica (and nothing NSFW or otherwise inappropriate).
  • Due Date: I will take any entries before the end of this month. Submit as many things as youโ€™d like!

I will be sure to let you know I have seen your creation. While quality counts, Iโ€™m mainly looking for something to simply catch my eye, so donโ€™t be afraid to join in!

So what are you waiting for? Go make something awesome!

Spilling the tea on Amelia’s mini quest โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿฆ„

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Giant Dragon, with screenshots from the PHB’s Slanted Fish. Enjoy!

Hel-lo Poptropicans! GD aka Giant Dragon here. A brand new mini-quest just dropped โ€” let’s take a look!

First, we have to talk to Amelia on Home Island. She’s got a question mark on her head. When we talk to her, she says she hasn’t introduced herself properly, and invites us to tea at her house, which is on the floor above Adventure Outfitters. (Wow, two floors!)

Excuse all the Paw Patrol: The Movie ads you’re going to see along the way. Inside the store, to the right, you’ll see a secret doorway leading to the second floor. Go on, click enter. Thenโ€ฆ

Ta-da, she has her own clubhouse! (And I have to admit, it’s cute.) But first, breaking news: Amelia owns Home Island! According to her, she bought the deed to Home Island with the money she got from her adventures. Oh wow!!

Have fun exploring her place โ€” it’s lore galore, so let’s talk about some of it! Noteworthy parts include the magical lipstick from Fairytale Island, a cute kitchen, and photographs of flying with Xavier and defeating the Red Baron (the rivalry runs deep!). Does anything else seem a bit familiar to you here? Looks like she’s been to Escape from Pelican Rock Island and gotten her own dummy head made!

Now as for the mini-quest, Amelia will tell you she’s missing some cargo that got lost on Survival Island, just a short ride away from Home Island on the map. Apparently she’s afraid of a certain sky pirate

Make your way to Survival Island and head right to the second scene. There, you’ll find a box overstuffed with unicorn goodies on one of the snowcapped rock ledges. Take the Lost Cargo and return to Amelia’s!

Realizing you saw what was inside (I mean, girl, it is overflowing), Amelia will blush hard in an anime-like, sweat drop animation sequence never before seen in Poptropica. UwU or OwO? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜ณ

Anyway, she’ll give you 1,000 credits and a unicorn plushie dรฉcor for your clubhouse. Look, how cute!

And have a look at Amelia’s bedroom! Unicorns galore! You can tell her whether you think they’re cute or dorky, but either way, it’s now our little secret. For now… wonder what the Baron would think?

Remember the first sneak peek we saw of this mini-quest? We now get to see the final version! Too bad the identities of the others featured remains a mystery. Or is the one on the right the Baron?

Did you see the Crisis Caverns trophy from Poptropica Worlds? It seems your character doesnโ€™t know what that “thing” is, so what do you think is the reason? The comments section is all yours…

Thatโ€™s it from me today. Keep your eyes popped for my future posts. Bye!!!

We quest in “dru” time ๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ

Hey, Poptropicans! Time to check out the newest stuff Poptropica has to offer. We have costumes, comics, stories, and even quests. Let’s go!

Last week, Poptropica made an Instagram post featuring a costume that had yet to grace the Pop store. Now, with the latest store update, the Forest Druid costume is available for purchase! This magical costume has a little bit of everything for everyone โ€” if by “everyone” you mean members. ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ™ƒ

The end of the store update post added, “Does the latest costume remind you of anything?” As far as I can tell, this costume appears to be based on Devoted Druid from the card game “Magic: The Gathering.” Both have similar cloaks and headpieces, but the Poptropica version has more foliage. Is this the right costume, or is there one more identical?

Next, Part 3 of Muddy Kid’s fan comic The Adventures of Ruby is now up on the Pop Creators’ Blog! Check out the first two parts to catch up on the story. In this month’s issue, Ruby sets off on a quest and earns her first pretend medallion. Click to enlarge the comic panels:

Finally, the Creators shared some new stuff on their latest Instagram stories. The first two stories highlight some great clips of Black Widow as if she were in an Ace Attorney game, and the third story shows a sneak peek of the Dimension Bros’ Poptropica Month video upload schedule.

However, the fourth and final story is the big one, announcing that Amelia’s mini quest is out now!

That’s all for now! What do you think the Forest Druid costume is based on? Any guesses for what the Dimension Bros are planning for Pop Month? Let us know in the comments below!

Stay tuned for our post covering Amelia’s mini quest. Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Pop Merch Review: Sticker Haul โœจ

Hey Poptropicans, we’re back with more merch to review! In addition to the lovely Dr. Hare button, I also ordered some stickers from the official Poptropica Zazzle store. Check out the haul:

The stickers were custom made by Zazzle and arrived in a cardboard envelope.

As you can see, I got six stickers: the 8-bit Dr. Hare and Dr. Beev from Hoptropica, the iconic Poptropica blimp, the classic Time Tangled Island, the mid-stage Survival Island, and the fresh Fairytale Island. ๐Ÿ

The Zazzle store has plenty more stickers, though, including logos of fictional businesses, and beloved characters from Fairytale Island. ๐Ÿบ

At a couple dollars apiece, and with Zazzle’s constant sales, the total of my six stickers came out to around US$12 (not counting international shipping, which was another ~$7 for me). If it’s your first time, you can get a free trial of Zazzle Black, which gives you free shipping in the US.

Anyway, on with the review! I’ll be going through these based on where I decided to stick these adhesive beauties. Let’s start with my laptop, where I placed Dr. Hare with Survival Island. ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŒฉ (Hey, if this bunny can fling himself to space, he can hop anywhere and survive!)

Love the color combos here! Still, each sticker ran smaller than I’d anticipated: Dr. Hare was supposed to be 2″x2″, but was more like 1.25″x1.25″, while Survival Island was meant to be 3″x3″, but ended up 2.5″x1.75″. So if you’re planning to order a sticker, keep that in mind when you’re deciding what size to get! (Size options range from a tiny 2″x2″ to an extra-large 14″x14.”)

Next up we have the Dr. Beev sticker! ๐Ÿฆซ As with the above, Beev was supposed to be 2″x2″, but in reality was closer to 1.75″x1.25″. He was also the only one which I got printed on glossy transparent paper, so the white parts are negated and you can see through to the surface where he’s placedโ€”in this case, my green iPad. Looking good!

Leave it to Beev.

Finally, we have the blimp and two more island stickers, Time Tangled and Fairytale. These are printed on regular matte white paper, so they come with a white outline. (You can choose the paper.)

Again, size runs small: the blimp was meant to be 2″x2″ but was really 1.5″x1.25″, while the islands were both supposedly 3″x3″ but varied, with Time Tangled being 2.5″x2″ and Fairytale being 2.5″x3″. Clearly the design shapes the size, with Fairytale looking large in its max height of 3″ while Time Tangled has a flatter design and ends up shorter.

Anyway, I plastered these pretty pieces onto my cardboard file boxes. Now I can go through my files like I’m traveling through the islands!

So that’s all six stickers! They’re all printed with pretty decent quality, are easy to use, and will look great wherever you want to stick them. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Thanks to the Poptropica Creators for sponsoring this post! And thanks for sticking with me through this sticker haul review. Check out more merch reviews here on the PHB, and stay awesome!

Pop Merch Review: Vintage Bandana ๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ˜ท

Hey Poptropicans! Today, I’m bringing you a quick review of the Vintage Poptropica Bandana from the official Poptropica Zazzle Store.

The product is available in two sizes: kids/small (18″ x 18″) and adult/large (22″ x 22″). Both options feature the classic blue Poptropica throw pattern. It costs US$18.95 and is made of “100% spun polyester,” making it really lightweight and breathable. The material is pretty smooth and reminds me a lot of a cotton bedsheet.

edge of bandana, with 12″ ruler for scale

I have always loved this pattern and I’m excited to see it on so many products in Poptropica’s merch store. You can also get it on leggings, a face mask, a puzzle, or a skateboard!

One thing that does disappoint me: the pattern is only printed on one side of the cloth. The back of the bandana is a thin heather white. Though I wish the pattern continued on both sides, it was not a surprise.

I will also say that the pattern’s images are a bit larger than I originally expected! Not a drawback by any means, just something to note. I’m pretty impressed with the quality of the print.

Overall, I’m quite satisfied with this item. Though thin, the feel and quality of the cloth is great, and I obviously love the pattern.

Thanks to the Poptropica Creators for sponsoring this post! They gifted the PHB a Zazzle gift card so we could share these reviews with you guys. Check out the PHBโ€™sย Merchandise Guide for more product info! ๐Ÿ’ซ

Stay classic, Poptropicans!
