Interpreting the Main Four’s dreams, pt. 2: Captain Crawfish โ›ด

Hello again, and welcome back to another dream interpretation! This time I’ll be investigating the mysterious dream world of the one and only Captain Crawfish.

Upon entering his dream, you see the interior of a ship. Bunk beds and hammocks, occupied by multiple sleeping Crawfish clones, slide back and forth in time to the tilting motion of the floating vessel. It may not seem like the most interesting dream at first glance, but when you view it from a deeper perspective it’s actually quite peculiar. ๐Ÿง

First, let’s focus on the main attraction; the various snoozing pirates (who are all just copies of Crawfish himself.) Dreaming of your doppelgangers could represent a multitude of things, but as I’m trying to keep this post a decent length, I’ll stick to the one that intrigued me most: self-reflection over past bad actions. In other words, remorse. Interesting.

Could Captain Crawfish be regretting his evil deeds?

There’s also something else I’ll mention concerning the carbon copies of Crawfish (try saying that five times fast): they’re asleep, and get very annoyed if you run into them and wake them up. Sleeping inside your own dream might mean that you’re oblivious or avoiding a situation during your waking hours. Hmm…

Snoozing away the day…

Moving on from the pirate doppelgangers, here’s something else I found a bit odd. Doesn’t everything in this dream look very old? The entire ship is plastered in barnacles and starfish, and there are cobwebs and algae hanging from the ceiling. If only the sky weren’t visible through those windows, I’d say it’d been sitting at the bottom of the sea for some time.

At this point, I think I have a vague idea of what Captain Crawfish’s dream could mean.

Based off of the carbon copies’ supposed meaning of self-realization, he’s been reflecting on his life of crime, and is starting to wonder whether he did the right thing. Was reducing Fort Ridley and its surrounding islands to little more than rubble really worth a chest of gold? It may seem far-fetched, but I see Crawfish as being the most likely to regret his actions out of the Main Four.

The clones being asleep and the ship having a neglected vibe also fit into this theory. The former represents ignorance and avoidance. Perhaps he now knows deep down what he did was wrong, but is trying to ignore this revelation for fear of damaging his reputation? And as for the apparently neglected ship, maybe he’s been struggling with this problem for a long time. Does he dare redeem himself and risk losing his dignity among the other villains?

Well, that’s all I’ve got to say today, folks. Stay tuned for my next two dream interpretations, and here’s to hoping Captain Crawfish sorts out his internal conflicts!

My Dream Island: Megatropolis by Invisible Ring

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible Ring. Enjoy!

Hey there, Poptropicans! Itโ€™s been a while, but I think I am ready to showcase my dream island!

Maybe a few of you already know a thing or two about my dream island from my backwater YouTube channel, or from the Poppies 2021 nominations. My original submission to Poptropica’s 2020 Dream Island Contest is found in this little video right here:

…It was the rush job of a lifetime. All those pages on the video were burned through in the last three weeks of the contestโ€ฆ during finals at the end of the school semester… while trying to make daily holiday advent videos at the SAME TIME!! …Although I was proud of what I made at the time, I almost lost my mind doing it!

The contest came and went, and although this island didnโ€™t win, Iโ€™m glad it didnโ€™t, because it gave me the chance to finish what I started. From the beginning of January 2021 all the way to the end of May, I fine-tuned my quest and completed my dream island once and for all. The last thing I did was compile my whole island story into new YouTube videos.

Iโ€™m much happier with these videos than I was with that old submission video. (I canโ€™t even look at whatโ€™s in the old submission video anymore!) Anyway, enjoy Megatropolis Island told through comic panels in this trailer, five chapters, and even a bonus:

So, my dream island is complete at last, and I think itโ€™s gonna blow your mind. But if you donโ€™t have time to view it now, feel free to subscribe to my channel and check out my dream island comic videos (and any of my other videos) anytime you like!

Please let me know what you think of my dream island, either in this PHB comment section or in the comment sections of my videos! Thank you, and Pop to you later!

Fanfic: The Princess and the Raven, part 4 ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿฆ

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Shy Scorpion. Enjoy!

Hello! Shy Scorpion here with the next part of my fanfiction. In case you missed it, catch up onย part 1,ย part 2, and part 3 here.

“The Princess and the Raven”

Scene: 1:00 p.m. at the Ye Olde Roastery Co. Ringmaster Raven is sitting under an umbrella waiting, half nervous and half excited. He keeps adjusting his signature top hat. Then Snow White arrives, looks around, spots Raven, and smiles.

SNOW WHITE:

Hi! Iโ€™m sorry Iโ€™m a little late, my wolf Pepperoni had to go out.

RAVEN:

No, it’s okay! Shall we order?

They go to the window and each order a coffee, then return to their table. Both of them are all smiles.

RAVEN:

So, you have a wolf, an interesting choice.

SNOW WHITE:

Yep, but I love Pepperoni, he is really sweet. Okay, what is one super random fact about you?

RAVEN:

(thinks for a moment) I can remember every face Iโ€™ve ever seen, does that count?

SNOW WHITE:

WOW! That is so cool!

Raven smiles, then a bell dings. They get up and get their coffees then return to their table. Snow White opens her mouth and closes it, then does it again. Raven calls her out and asks what is the matter.

SNOW WHITE:

(hesitantly) Can I ask you something, about your past?

RAVEN:

(face flushes) Sure.

SNOW WHITE:

(rapidly) Well, were you born with wings? Did you really start the fire? Why did you get left behind? Are your parents just like you?

RAVEN:

(flustered) Well, um, letโ€™s see, what?

SNOW WHITE:

(calms down) Iโ€™m sorry, I just want to know who you really are, not what some newspaper says.

RAVEN:

Okay, my parents were normal Poptropicans, but for some reason the mixture of their genes caused a rare mutation. It gave me wings and feathers. They raised me as best they could but one day in a freak accident they died. I survived and ran away and just started wandering around until I got to a small town. Then the citizens found me and the rest is history.

SNOW WHITE:

Wow.

RAVEN:

Yeah, now Snow White, you have to tell me who you are.

SNOW WHITE:

Well, Iโ€™m technically a princess of a medium-sized kingdom. But my whole life I wanted to be someone else, a veterinarian! Unfortunately, my father betrothed me to a whiny prince. But when Rumplestiltskin kidnapped the king of Fairy Tale Island, it threw off the whole thing. So until they find him, the wedding is off and I can go live my dreams!

RAVEN:

So, you got your happy ending?

SNOW WHITE:

(smiles) Yeah, I guess I did.

They chat happily for a while longer, then they both get up and throw away their coffee cups.

SNOW WHITE:

Thanks for the lovely coffee and talk. I hope we can do this again soon.

RAVEN:

Yeah, I agree. Letโ€™s definitely do this again, bye!

I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to tell me in the comments what you think should happen next!

I also would like to give a shout out to another AMAZING fanfiction called “The Villain Saga” by MaryannTheConquerer here on the PHB. Episode 2.2 was just recently posted, and this saga was part of what inspired me to write my own Poptropica fanfiction. So if you like mine, feel free to check hers out. Well thatโ€™s it for now, see you next time Poptropicans! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Just brew it.

Hope you enjoyed this guest post by Shy Scorpion. If you did, you might also enjoy The Villain Saga, which inspired this fanfic!

Fan Art Features, Social Media

Top tier cheers from your Pop peers

Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got fan art features, Poptropica Month inspo, and more โ€” let’s pop into it!

Poptropicans have been hard at work creating as always, and besides the usual OCs, we’re also seeing Pop Month plans and entries for the Baron’s Red October costume design contest in the latest batch of stories from Poptropica’s Instagram. Take a look:

Speaking of Pop Month, the fan-run festivities have only just begun, but they’re already gaining traction!

If you’re looking for some participation ideas, TheOrangeHelium just released a 2021 updated top tier list for Poptropica islands, where you can categorize all the islands (including individual episodes, mini quests, and more) according to your preferences. Enjoy!

We’re wrapping up this post with a vintage-style Poptropica bandana! This versatile sheet is available IRL through Pop’s merch store, and it’s a beauty. The PHB’s Spotted Dragon recently shared her review here, and her review also just came out on the Creators’ Blog this week.

And even if you can’t get your hands on the real thing, we have a lovely Wild West Island ASG for you!

Keep on popping on, Poptropicans!

Baron's Airship, Social Media

Baron’s back with birthday bounty, and fans kick off Poptropica Month ๐Ÿฐ

Hey Poptropicans! The Baron’s back, and so is Pop Month! With Poptropica turning 14, let’s pop into the September celebrations!

The much-hyped return of the Red Baron’s airship is finally here, and inside this sky pirate’s temporary Home Island landing, you’ll find the costume contest winner, the Shooting Star Hero, freely up for grabs. The arrow really does shoot a star! ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿน

Beside this outstanding otherworldly outfit, you’ll also find a call to the next costume design contest, which is already underway! This time, there’s a twist: this “Red October” contest will have 6 winners chosen to be made into the game for the Red Baron’s next pop-up. Check out the Creators’ Blog for more details ยป

Also on the shop floor, you’ll find various other goodies for sale: the Old Cheese (50 credits), Elf Queen costume (50), Hero Fountain (150), Bit-Pig (50), Bit-Cake (50), and even a free Big Cake costume! ๐Ÿฐ

The total bill if you’re grabbing everything is only 350 credits, which is much lower than previous Baron visits and can easily be settled with the 1,000-credit reward from Amelia’s mini quest. Seems like our Pop Petitions have paid off once again!

In other news, September means it’s Poptropica Month! Pop Month, if you haven’t already caught onto the hype, is a month-long fan-run event of sharing Poptropica-themed videos to a common playlist hosted by the Dimension Bros on YouTube. Check the deets:

Besides YouTube, you can also participate on Instagram by tagging @dimension_bros. The PHB’s Gentle Dolphin has already come up with a fun little reel showing off colorful Pop outfits with a jam! ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽฅ

For more Pop Month ideas and inspiration, or just ways to show support even without making your own clips, check out the Dimension Bros’ PHB guest post on video-making tips and keep up with the Pop Month 2021 playlist here.

While this event isn’t sponsored by the PHB, we encourage all Poptropicans to have fun with it and celebrate Poptropica’s legacy. Happy birthday, Poptropica, and here’s to a poppin’ month! ๐Ÿฅ‚
