🏆 Poppies 2024: Nominate Now!

Another year, another summer… another Poppies! 🥳🌞🏆

The Poppies are our fan-hosted award event for Poptropica fans. During the weeks leading up to the PHB’s birthday on July 26, readers can nominate and vote for their favorites in various categories. We’ll conclude with a party and livestream announcing the results!

After going over your feedback for how to approach the 9th annual Poppies, the votes ended in favor of keeping the event as it was, with a mix of categories about the game itself and the fandom beyond. 🎈

We’re now kicking off with a nomination round, where you are invited to suggest the contestants for each category! This round starts now and ends next Sunday, July 14. Nine awards for 9 years of Poppies — let’s go!

Wax Eloquent: The stars never fade away, they may only melt.

⚔ Best Boss Fight: From the massive robot in Legendary Swords, to Mordred’s epic mecha in Astro-Knights, Poptropica is full of its own unique and challenging battles! Which was the most memorable?

🐹 Cutest Character: We’re not asking for the coolest or most villainous — for this award, we want you to tell us which character is the most adorable! (This applies only to NPCs, not user avatars.)

😭 Most Tearjerking Moment: Between Poptropica’s many adventures, you may find some bittersweet moments. From the story of the deceased in Ghost Story, to Annabelle and Count Bram’s end in Vampire’s Curse, what moments gave you pause? (This applies to all canon material, including the graphic novels.)

🎵 Classic Island Most Deserving of an Original Soundtrack: Islands released before 2013 (known as AS2) had no music, except for a few that were later updated. Which of the silent classic islands would you wish to get their own soundtrack?

🎨 Best Fan Art of the Year: And here come the artists! As always, there are still plenty of works to choose from within the past year, showcasing the fandom’s passion and talent. 📷 Best Fan Video of the Year: While the hype hasn’t been as big this year, some Poptropicans have continued to upload their video creations, ranging from in-game movies to discussions of the game’s history. Which clips were the most impressive? (Anything published on/after July 2023 is eligible.)

🖼 Best Animation/Animatic: A new arts category suggested by some PHB readers! This showcases a more specific type of fan video than the category above. (Works of any publication date are eligible.)

👗 Best Costume Submission: We’ve voted for the Best Costume Contest Winner before, but what about all those left in the slush pile? Which of the monthly costume contest entries do you wish had made it into the game but didn’t? Let’s give them another chance to shine! (Works of any publication date are eligible.)

🔎 Most Likely Popspiracy: Our Popspiracy series has hosted a range of wild conspiracy theories, ranging from the plausible to the downright preposterous! From all these interesting ideas, which do you think is the most likely to be true? (Works of any publication date are eligible.)

Who Broke the PHB’s Coffeepot? ☕️👊

Something’s brewing over at PHB headquarters, and it’s definitely not coffee. Someone (presumably one of the authors) broke the breakroom’s coffeepot! Who could have committed such an atrocity?! Watch and find out:

In all seriousness, I hope you guys like my silly little animatic. I had a lot of fun making it!

The audio comes from a famous scene in the show Parks and Recreation. This particular clip has inspired many parodies, and it was just a matter of time before Poptropica got the “Who Broke It?” treatment.

You may have also noticed some photos in this mostly-illustrated video. The broken coffeepot is lifted straight out of the original Parks and Recreation scene, the cat-ifited Purple Paw image is an edit of Chocolate aka OMG Cat, and the wall at the end features some art of the PHB authors: the current PHB banner by Slanted Fish and a “Draw the Squad” meme by Magic Kid and QueenCookieMonster. 📷🎨

Ask Poptropica Siri is a Q&A segment here on the PHB where you, dear readers, are invited to send in your Poptropica questions to have them answered with all the wisdom you can expect from a Smart Icicle.

Hey everyone! It’s good to be back. Let’s get into some of your questions!

You get to invite one Poptropica character to your birthday party! Who are you inviting? ~HeartOfEnder

This is one of the hardest questions. My birthday has already passed this year, but to be honest, I always wanted to have a pirate-themed birthday party. So I would probably invite Captain Crawfish. Not to throw any of the other Poptropica characters out the door — I would invite all of them, because then it would be a nice house party. 😎

What is your favorite Poptropica fanship? ~Magic Kid

I feel a little embarrassed now because I don’t know about most Poptropica fanships. I think of the characters more as friends than being romantically involved. I guess I’d pick Dr. Hare and Dr. Beev (I know I said that before, but that is really the only fanship I know of).

What is Zomberry juice made out of? ~Rough Clown

So we know that on Zomberry Island, it is made out of blueberries. But taking it a step further, I would like to think of the Zomberry juice as a Grimace Shake — that limited edition berry-flavored purple smoothie from McDonald’s last summer. Poptropica totally saw that one coming!

Finally, I want to answer a question of my own — what’s next for me and the PHB? I’m heading off for college soon, but I’ll still be around this community! The PHB is the first blog I’ve worked on, and I think it’s made me become a better writer. I may even pursue writing as a career.

Trust me, I’m not done yet with the PHB. I still have fun articles I’m working on, including a big Pop-over that I hope you will all enjoy. I just wanted to share this, so thank you and I hope to see you all soon!

Descending Mount Olympus: April Fools! ⚡️

Fear not, folks: Zeus’s reign of terror with Mount Olympus is over, and the Poptropica Help Blog is back to steal his thunder. April Fools! 🗻🌩️😶‍🌫️

Zeus took over the PHB on April Fools’ Day.

For a while there, it looked like Zeus had managed to conquer both the PHB and PHC, demanding loyalty from Poptropicans everywhere in his freshly extended kingdom of Mount Olympus. But just like his previous domination attempts in Poptropica, we’ve once again thwarted Dr. Jupiter’s plans by regaining access to our site and kicking him off.

Even though Zeus is going to have to admit he can’t force his way to the top spot of the Favorite Poptropica Island Tournament, the Greek god of thunder sure enjoyed his moment of glory in the comments and chat! This Grandpa Thunderpants, as he came to be known, even received fan art from some of his followers (or haters?) on the PHC. Check them out:

We had a lot of fun bringing you a taste of the second-best Poptropica island on this occasion, and hope you enjoyed the shenanigans celebrating Mythology Island (Classic). (Play it on Steam or Flashpoint!)

A MESSAGE FROM ZEUS: WELCOME TO MOUNT OLYMPUS 🌩️

Foolish mortals, how dare you forsake Mythology Island?! How dare you choose that mismatched menace over me?!

The tournament must have been rigged from the beginning! Why else would the people favor that island? Mythology Island is home to Classical Greek architecture and powerful beings such as myself, while Astr*-Kn*ghts Isl*nd suffers from an identity crisis and is plagued by an equally confused villain. I will stand against this injustice!

From now on, the Poptropica Help Blog shall be known as Mount Olympus! I would have taken over sooner if I had known how to use “Word Press” and “Discord”. I had conquered technology during my time as Dr. Jupiter, but managing a website is on another level.

Oh, and don’t even think about calling your precious authors. I have locked them out of their accounts. It is only fair that they lose their domain as well.

Now that this wretched site is mine, I will give you Poptropican readers four simple rules to follow:

🛐 Show respect to your new leader. Write words of worship in the comment section or give yourself the “Zeus Zealot” role on the newly-conquered Mount Olympus Chat Discord server.
⚡️ Only discuss Mythology Island. Never mention other islands unless in a mocking manner, especially the false winner of the tournament.
🌄 Send photographic offerings. Like other gods, I favor certain offerings. You may send photographs of my favorite things: lightning bolts, eagles, bulls, and oak trees.
🏛️ Build temples. I encourage you lot to build temples and expand the Mythology Empire. You may construct them on gaming platforms like Poptropica Realms, Roblox, or Minecraft. If these are not available to you, you may draw schematics or sculpt them with supplies at hand.
