Introducing the New Feature!!

Seems like most of our speculations in GB’s post below were correct!! The new feature that’s coming soon is Poptropica Friends!!

It’s a combination of friending people, the Pop quiz, the photos, and the Costume Closet in one! So if you guessed one, or even most, of these items, you were correct! 😀

Soon you’ll be able to make friends with the people you meet in Poptropica! You can follow their adventures in the game, and show off your own accomplishments. You’ll create a unique personality profile to share with the world. When you play through Islands, you’ll earn photos that mark your achievements in the game. Members will have access to a costume closet that lets you store as many as 30 individual costumes!

You’ll find all this and more with Poptropica friends. Keep an eye out here for more information, including when you can start using these new features!

Friends ~ If you want to add friends, click on the person, and then the friend button! (It also shows the country they’re from) Or if you know your friend’s username, you can add that! Ex: Monstercarnival2012, this yields a character named Monster Carnival wearing a chicken suit! (pictured below, thanks Flamez) I wonder….

It also occurred to me, if we can add usernames, we can add the Creators as our friends! 😀

Costume Closet ~ It’s a scroll on your Profile page that, based on the post, is available for members. It can store up to 30 costumes, and to costumize it, just click on it! You can also share your costumes with friends!
Photo Album ~ As you play the islands, once you get to an important milestone, you get a picture!
Pop Quiz~ When you log in, you can answer questions that match your personality. You’ll see more of your personality on your profile the more you answer! You can also see what your friends answered in the same window under “Recent Activity”

Poptropica “nose” best!

Starting next week, your Poptropican may find a new anatomical feature sprouting…

Seeing as they look somewhat ugly, it’s most likely a joke. Why else would they post on April 1st? It’s also one of those rare times the PCB has made a Sunday post. 🙂

Not since the introduction of the Costumizer or the removal of the Monster Carnival map icon have we made an update this momentous.

Did you catch that nod in the direction of Monster Carnival? That was an island that appeared on the map as “Coming soon” many years ago, but mysteriously disappeared just to be replaced with 24 Carrot Island. This may be the first time the Creators have actually acknowledged it.

Now necks, on the other hand, may be a better innovation… gotta have something to connect the pyknic ovals together.

Furry monster… carnival?

Justly named Furry Monsters 1-4 (see above pic; 1-4 are in order left to right), these new [and so far, unannounced] releases to the Poptropica Store mean you can now get what used to be ultra-rare leaked costume parts (wings, horns, fur bodies) for only 75 credits per costume! Here’s what they say:

Furry Monster 1: “Monster is the new black.”
Furry Monster 2: “Don’t hate me because I’m spooky.”
Furry Monster 3: “Be a hit at the next monster bash!”
Furry Monster 4: “Guaranteed to shock and frighten!”

And apparently, the available furry monsters are actually different by your gender! So there’s actually more of a variety available, and the good news is, they’re all AWESOME!

These creatures resemble the leaked costumes of “Monster Carnival Island”, the unreleased island that appeared on the Poptropica Map in early 2008 and mysteriously never went live. (Instead, as older players may recall, it was replaced by 24 Carrot.) As far as the Creators are showing us, they probably won’t be releasing this Monster Carnival Island.

So these monster costumes aren’t very rare any more, now that anyone can obtain them… but they’re still cool! Don’t you just love those critter bits? 😀

Ad building news according to Sunset1624: “There’s also a new ad for girls (I found it on my 12 year old account) called Barbie Girls Halloween Bash. You help Barbie pick out a good costume for the party, and when you pick out a costume she likes (it could be any) you get a cat costume for yourself and you get to go to the Halloween party. You can’t costumize any of the good costumes though. The only costumes you can costumize are the costumes of the same people from the Haunted House.”

ONE MILLION hits! What a milestone! And with such a milestone needs to be something great, something amazing, something nobody has seen since the beginning of Poptropica’s creation. So together the PHB Team managed to find you guys, the readers, something that would truly daze you. Are you ready?
