TwitterRoundup

Hey guys, Spotted Dragon here with another Twitter roundup, as well as a Capri Sun ad, among other things (hehe, my post title rhymes)! There have been lots of things posted on Twitter that are worth mentioning, so let’s get started!

First up, have you met all these Poptropicans? The whole Shark Boy to Shark Guy cover-up was pretty smooth. 😎 Also, you may notice that Master Mime is now female! Not sure when that happened… Anyway, tell us who your favorite Poptropican is in the comments below!

we all wanna be famous

Next up, we have a behind the scenes look at some more decor in Poptropica HQ! Obviously this related to Legendary Swords, even though that entire arc has been abandoned. However, Jessica does say “Well, you never know!” 😉

Coming to an end with this Twitter roundup, a pro tip for Poptropicans everywhere: no need for bribes in any contest. Yep, apparently someone sent in a very tempting $5 when entering a recent Poptropica contest. No need to worry though, the money was sent back. XD

bribe

Oh! And one more thing! If you live in Rochester, you have a chance to meet Kory MerrittSaturday March 26, 2016 2:00 PM at Barnes and Noble!

Well, that wraps up the Twitter roundup, but this is not the end of the post! Another ad has been *spotted* on Poptropica.

capri sun

Specifically this ad is for Capri Sun (thanks to Spencer for the pics btw). By clicking on the ad, you will earn Spring Shoes and can then press space bar to jump! Sooo, yep, have fun with that. It’s not often Poptropicans get to wear shoes. 🙂

In other news, Monkey Wrench Island, previously just on Home Island, is now on the map!

If you get stuck, be sure to check out our guide. 😛

That’s all there is for now, but be sure to keep checking in for more updates!

New Islands, Social Media

New Island for the New Player (Soon)

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, the Creators have decided to reveal Poptropica’s next island! Well, at least some info about it… check out this pic:

main_street-ftue-fin

This is very cool looking! The sign tells us this is “Crusoes Castaway Retreat”, and based on the environment shown, this could be related to the jungle/aviation sneak peeks we’ve been seeing on the Daily Pop. The jungle-esque background is very nice, and is that a giant stone monkey head I see back there? The only problem is that the fruit on this large contraption/fruit stand structure is starting to make me hungry…

So, here’s what the Creators mentioned in their latest post (we’ve taken the liberty to emphasize the important parts in bold):

Well, we’re trying something a little bit different this time. We’ve got over 40 full Islands on the site already. That’s great for most players, but some of those Islands — okay, most of them — are very complex and challenging!

That’s why we’re putting our efforts toward a new Island especially for first-time players. It’s shorter than most, with simpler objectives. The idea is to let new players understand how to approach the challenges of Poptropica and give them the tools they need to crack some of the tougher Islands, like Escape From Pelican Rock.

If you’re already a Poptropica expert, fear not! We think you’ll like this Island too. It’s got some fantastic art, great gameplay, and hilarious characters. In other words, everything you love about Poptropica!

This sounds great – and as you may already know, sounds similar to a request Slanted Fish made in her open letter to Poptropica. (Plus, have you read the response?)

In other news, the Poptropica Creators’ Twitter (and other social media accounts) have recently been updated in a much more personal way with a new identity. The Twitter bio now reads:

The one and only official Poptropica Twitter account, moderated by Poptropica’s community liaison, Jessica (also known as Skinny Moon!)

The account’s avatar has changed as well. Gone is Zeus’ evil mugshot, and in its place is a shot of Skinny Moon, aka Jessica, the Creator who’s been running the Poptropica social media accounts lately. (Remember when we joined her Multiverse party?)

So are you all excited about the new island? Do you like the changes made to the Creators’ Twitter?

Until next time…

Announcing the Island Hopper Grand Prize Winner! (plus Twitter Roundup)

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, I have returned, ready to share with you all the grand prize winner of the Island Hopper Sweepstakes.

If you recall, I was the author who originally posted about the sweepstakes’ announcement and initiation. And now, I get to round up the PHB’s coverage of the Island Hopper Sweepstakes via my post yesterday as well as this post! Isn’t that fitting?

Nevertheless, we’ve waited all this time for this news, so I best not dawdle. The grand prize winner of the Island Hopper Sweepstakes, who has won a 30 minute video call with Jeff Kinney, is…

comicalhamburger

Comical Hamburger! Congratulations!

For all of us, including me, who did not win, remember to prepare for more community contests in the future!

As for Comical Hamburger’s chat with Jeff Kinney, expect an update on this post when the footage is released!

And now, on to another edition of Twitter Round-Up!

TwitterRoundup

Now, you may have noticed (we here at the PHB certainly have) that the Creators’ Twitter page has been quieter than usual recently. Well, it appears that they may have something up their sleeves for us soon…

On a more depressing note, I’m sure you all have heard by now about the deaths of popular creative icons David Bowie and Alan Rickman. Well, I’m very happy to see that the Creators decided to Tweet out their respect to each man recently.

Plus, Spotted Dragon’s Snape costume, which the Creators linked to, can also be found on the PHB’s Costumes page.

And that’ll wrap up this edition of Twitter Round-Up! I hope this was a sufficient number of Tweets for this segment. After all, the Creators have some catching up to do, don’t they? 😉

Until next time…

Through Twitter and the Viewing Glass…

Hey, guys! Slip here. Get the pun? It’s time for a new post!

missme

There’s a new ViewMaster advertisement in Poptropica Main Streets! It previously appeared on the mobile app then, online—don’t worry, both of the ads aren’t the same. They have different prizes for players, so let’s take a look!

The ViewMaster ad features an advertisement room where you can enter and get your prizes. Simply go in and you’ll find yourself inside a place similar to a planetarium.

Now, follow the blue arrows pointing up. It’ll lead you to the first prize: the 360 Teleporter Power. When you’re using this power, your player wears the ViewMaster and travels through several different Poptropica islands, without leaving the room! (Challenge: If you can name all of the islands, you’re awesome!)

To get to the next prize, you can go to the far right of the room until you come across some asteroids and a UFO. There you’ll receive your next prize: the Island Warper Power! With this power, you will warp to an island—like Night Watch or Wild West—you’ll stay for a while and warp back to the place you’re at. Seems fun, right?

Wait, there’s more! You can even try answering the quiz about animals or even try watching their advertisement on the giant ViewMaster in the middle.

If you have nothing left to do, you can exit the advertisement through the rocket at the end. 🙂

On the other hand, there are some new Twitter tidbits from Poptropica!

Poptropica shared this vine featuring the animation of the Monster Duck Hunt Carnie. Really scary monster. (Need any help with Monster Carnival? Click here!)

Poptropica also shared a photo of their bookshelf at the Poptropica HQ! See any familiar books? Do you have some of them? Comment it down below!

Last but never the least, Poptropica also posted this photo with the hashtags: #truth and #Poptropica. Do you agree with this?

And that’s all of the news and things you need to know! Did you miss me? I hope you did! Did you enjoy this post? Don’t forget to leave a comment!

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and I’ve got various visual news for all of you!

The Creators have been quite busy recently! First off, there’s a new free update to the Poptropica app. This appdate contains the promo for Escape From Pelican Rock that first came to the online Poptropica, as well as some bug fixes. All free!

eagleappicon

Poptropica has also been creating accounts on different outlets of social media in order to connect better with us fans. Of course, you all know about their Twitter, but now they also have Vine, Snapchat (their username is @PoptropicaSC), and Periscope!

On the subject on social media, Poptropica’s aforementioned Twitter page has been tweeting out answers to some interesting questions! Let’s take a look:

True, Zeus is not the brightest ray of sunshine we know…

Clearly, there is still a lot we don’t know about Escape from Pelican Rock… What could possibly be waiting for us?

Remember those comic strips? Y’know, the ones starring our old pals Jorge and Oliver? Hopefully, they’ll have something to do during the wait time…

Now this is news-worthy! Quickly, somebody update the Poptropica Wiki! (just kidding, it’s already been updated) Confused? Check out the PHB’s Mystery of Shark Boy article to learn about his disappearance!

Guess it’s #ThrowbackTuesday over there.

But wait – there’s more news!

An advertisement for Skylanders: Super Chargers has revved its way into Poptropica. (credit to Young Singer -Nariko- for the heads-up)

Bonus question: What island am I on?

Simply watch the trailer, and you will receive a Hot Streak Follower.

Finally, everyone’s favorite blog founder, SlantedFish, has done something really cool:

It’s SlantedFish herself re-creating her Poptropica character, Friendly Fish, in real life! Now this is a great idea. Would you like do something like this? Because I suspect that this IRL Poptropican is only the first of many…

Until next time!
