October Occasions: IOTM, Skinny Moon’s Birthday, & PHB Contest!

Spotted Dragon

Hey everyone! Spotted Dragon here again (I know, it’s like once in a blue moon these days) and it’s October, so you know what that means…

spoopy

Well, yes it does mean it’s time to binge watch Over the Garden Wall, but that’s not the point of this post. The point is that it’s a new month and that means a new Island of the Month! And that island is…

Monster Carnival! And for this spoopy time of year, I’d say Monster Carnival is a perfect choice. Remember that since this island is currently featured, it gets special advantages! 😀

  • First-time finishers get 500 credits instead of the usual 300
  • Repeat finishers get a one-time 300 credit bonus instead of the usual 150
  • There’s a brand-new walkthrough (by the Creators) for Monster Carnival to help you if need be
  • Some cool IOTM lost art and/or throwbacks will be posted throughout the month on the Creators’ Blog and social media
  • The IOTM’s exclusive members-only items are back in the Poptropica Store for a limited time (including the Ringmaster costume which was previously only available during early access)

Of course, we did already figure out the Islands of the Month – the other is Mythology Island – the Creators just finally got around to blogging about it (and mentioning the upcoming lost art!).

If you are interested in any of these, head over to Monster Carnival Island right away! I’m very excited to see all this “lost art,” aren’t you?  However, that’s not all that’s special about this month…

It’s also Skinny Moon’s birthday today! Yep, October 13th to be exact, so be sure to wish her a happy birthday. From all of us here on the PHB, happy birthday, Jessica! We all love and appreciate you very much, so we hope you had an amazing day. 😉

I’ve also been told to share this video with the lucky birthday girl… (very funny ylime) 😛

Other than these cool celebrations, remember that Poptropica is celebrating Halloween in other cool ways. Plus, be sure to enter in the PHB’s very own Halloween/Fall Costume Contest!

It’s our 8th annual this year, and it’s very special this time around because… the Poptropica Creators are sponsoring us by giving a one-month membership to each of the 10 winners (in addition to the prize of being featured on the PHB)!

Now you have to enter, right? Just do it!

Anyway, stay spoopy Poptropicans! >:)

Shrink Ray Island, Vampire's Curse Island

Happy birthday – have a pencil!

LJ

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here, showing you a fabulous Poptropica cake!

Over on Poptropica’s Twitter page, Poptropica has just announced that they’ll be celebrating Poptropica’s 9th birthday this month! I’m not sure what Poptropica has in store for us, but we were promised some fun coming soon! 🙂

Moving ahead now! We’ve also got some unreleased items we may or may not see in Poptropica. Courtesy to idk for the photos.

poptropica_unreleased_item1

As seen above, we have a Pencil, a Shoe Box, and an Amulet. From the island logos imprinted on the cards, I’m assuming these were items that were cut during development. Both Shrink Ray and Vampire’s Curse logos can be seen, if you look closely. Maybe even items for the New Poptropica?

If I were to guess; I would say that some of the original islands may be renewed in the New Poptropica. Eh… Just something that came to mind. 😛 Here’s what creator, Skinny Moon, had to say in a recent Q&A we held.

We have lots of news to cover today. Without further ado, let’s start!

Speaking of Sunday, that will also be the last day of Poptropica’s 8th Birthday celebration. If you haven’t received the 8th birthday prize or 200 credits for finishing Early Poptropica (first time only), well now’s the time to grab ’em!

Next, Captain Crawfish has uploaded a new Realms video featuring Smart Bones’ labyrinth— and it left us a challenge! Captain Crawfish finished the maze in 6 minutes and 45 seconds—can you beat his time? Leave your results below

(Warning: Beware of shouting, ranting, groaning, words of wisdom and Crawfish-seizures! :P)

Speaking of the Creators, Poptropica shared some of their spooky Photo Booth creations on Twitter! Want to share yours? Tweet to Poptropica and they’ll retweet! 🙂

And that’s all of the updates! Have you checked out HP’s PoptropiComic or UiPE’s fan art contest entries? Don’t forget to leave a comment! 🙂

PHB Parties

Recap: PHB’s gr8 8th birthday party for Poptropica!

Slanted Fish

Hey gr8 Poptropican m8s, check out this upd8! w8 for it…

As you may know, Poptropica has been celebrating their 8th birthday these past two weeks, and to join in the 8-bit festivities, this past Saturday the PHB invited all Poptropicans to join in for a party on the PHC and Poptropica! Thanks to all those who came; we hope you’d r8 it 8/8!

8thbday recap

Don’t all those balloons look so orn8? With birthday balloons of various colors (and similar-looking musical trees) filling up the several Multiverse rooms we had going on, plus fireworks being set off as players competed in games and got turned into pixel pigs, the party rooms were definitely very lively (and laggy, because Poptropica can’t handle our partying 😉 ).

Over on the PHC (the PHB’s official Poptropica Help Chat), Poptropicans enjoyed chatting with each other, got to meet a few PHB authors (UiPE, BT, Sam, Slip, and yours truly were there!), and even had some fun on the Doodle feature with Poptropica artists like MasterPinpey!

The party went on for a few hours, and it was great to see many of you there! For those who couldn’t come, as well as those who had a fun time, remember the PHC is always open – not just during PHB parties – and we welcome you there to hang out with other Poptropicans anytime! You can access it via xat.com/thePHC or by clicking “Chat” in the navigation bar at the top of the PHB’s site.

Thanks to those of you who came, even those who were fashionably l8, and made this event gr8! Even if you couldn’t make it, it’s okay, we don’t h8. Be sure to check out this PHB post for everything about Poptropica’s 8-bit celebr8ion this month!

Happy 8th birthday, Poptropica! ❤

Here’s to many more years!

Early Poptropica Island

A Happy 8-bit Birthday, Poptropica!

Slippery Raptor

Hey guys!

I’m doing a very special post for everyone today! Well, the most wonderful time of the year is here, and no, it’s not Christmas – it’s Poptropica’s 8th Birthday!

8bitbirthday

This year’s celebration is quite different from our traditional one. Remember the pixel Prized Porker we saw last week? As you can guess, it does have something to do with this year’s celebrations! You may have seen this critter hopping across the login screen, for starters.

For the first time ever, Poptropica is going to add a World Champions live map for a classic Poptropica island: Early Poptropica! Not only that, members and non-members can compete against the crown of being a top finisher for the first ever Poptropica island. And if it’s your first time finishing EP, you’ll get 200 credits instead of the typical 150! Isn’t that the best thing ever?

The race is on starting 1pm EST on Tuesday, Sept 15th! If you need a walkthrough, check out our Early Poptropica Island Guide (or our trivia page for a Quick Guide!).

ep8thbirthday

The yearly balloon hunt is now on as well! This year’s prize is different from past years. Once you pop the 8th birthday balloon in common rooms, you will receive the 8-bit Birthday Pixel Pig Power! (What a long name!) Happy hunting!

Who’s excited? Don’t forget to tweet #HBDPoptropica today and get ready for a PHC party soon! 🙂

Plus, you can grab your free 8th Birthday Balloon in the Store now! Also, you may have noticed that the first NPC on Early Poptropica now holds one of these balloons and says something about the celebrations when you click on him.

UPDATE: WOAH GUYS. WOAH. I (Slippery Raptor) just got first place on the Early Poptropica World Champions Map. Best birthday ever? Other PHB authors and friends ranked pretty impressively as well: HPuterpop (Messy Sinker) was #11, UiPE (Yellow Sword) was #6, and his twin brother Giant Hawk finished at #7! Congratulations to all the finishers!

Check your rank on the World Champions Map and share yours in the comments!
