Happy spooky season, Poptropicans! In addition to the PHB’s special Halloween site skin, this update brings you store (and more) treats, plus tantalizing tricks through bonus dialogue and memes. Let’s pop in!

October’s mood is Halloween spirit, and Poptropica promises that this entire month’s store updates are going to be Halloween themed — starting now! At Adventure Outfitters, you’ll find tons of spooky costumes, and even more spilling over to the shop floor on both sides. Among them is a new blue Fuzzy Monster (Sully, is that you?) and the return of the Bubble Unicorn for members (you know Amelia, she loves her unicorns). See more on the Pop Creators’ Blog »

While we’re here for more treats than tricks, member gifts are here! Players of privilege can dress up with the Bread Head, Lion Mane, and Dino outfits — matching with recent pet items.

After you’ve made your rounds at the store, consider paying Amelia a visit upstairs in her home. If you’ve completed Amelia’s mini quest, you can come back to her place to find her enjoying some tea. Strike up a conversation and she’ll talk about unicorns, naturally, as well as hint at more quests to come! 🦄☕️

Over on Twitter, Poptropica’s been playing a different game. Sharing images from the recent popular Netflix drama Squid Game, they created two memes about playing Poptropica beyond broken internet and reasonable bedtimes. Fortunately, playing Pop won’t get you eliminated because many islands themselves have already been decimated…

Also fortunately, you don’t need to have watched the show (which is recommended for ages 16+) to enjoy these memes. Nope, new Pop might not have epic tribes like the Flying Squid, but at least we got these Stationary Squids for amusement. 🦑

Fanfic: The Princess and the Raven, part 5 👸🐦

Hello Poptropicans, and welcome to the next part of my fanfiction! It’s Shy Scorpion and I know it’s been a while, but welcome to part 5. (Catch up on part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4 if you missed any of them.)

  • “The Princess and the Raven”

Scene 4: Snow White is sitting in Red’s Pizza Basket with some very familiar faces: Red, Cinder, and Amelia. They are all eating pizza while Red bakes some more at the counter.

SNOW WHITE:

Wow! It was lucky to meet you here, Amelia. I’ve seen you once, after Rumpelstiltskin was defeated, but we never really got to talk.

CINDER:

Yeah, you’re a great storyteller too, I loved hearing about your race against the Baron!

AMELIA:

Thanks, but I am so glad to meet all of you! You’ve all really caused a buzz among people on home island. Speaking of which, how’s it going with these boyfriends of yours? 

CINDER:

Great! The huntsman and I are actually really alike, and that helps a lot. We’ve had some great conversations over cups of coffee. 

AMELIA:

Nice! I prefer tea myself, but never mind, how about your boyfriend, Snow White? 

SNOW WHITE:

(silent for a second) It’s good, actually, it’s great! I guess I always thought villains were all horrible people. But I’m seeing now that actually some of them had good inside of them, they just needed the right person to bring it out.   

AMELIA:

(smiles) I’m starting to see that. Speaking of villains, have you guys heard the news about Rumpelstiltskin?

SNOW WHITE, CINDER, and RED:

No! 

AMELIA:

He recently sent my friend, the adventurer one, on a quest to find and free the king of Fairytale Island. 

RED:

Why would he do that? I thought he was obsessed with taking away everyone’s happy endings? Won’t this make the prince happy?  

AMELIA:

I’m just as confused as you are! Once they found the king, he started crying about a… queen or something? But I’m not sure why this is a big deal. 

SNOW WHITE:

(going pale) If the king comes back, do you think everything on Fairytale Island will go back to normal?  

AMELIA:

(happily) Of course! (sees her face) What’s wrong?   

SNOW WHITE:

I think I know why Rumpelstiltskin did what he did. To ruin my happy ending!

AMELIA:

What? Why? 

SNOW WHITE:

If the king comes back, then my postponed wedding to the prince is back on again! 

A bell dings, and another familiar face walks in. 

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

(with a grin) Why, that’s precisely the point!

Surprise, Poptropicans! There’s a new ad game in town and its commercialization might just be a tad outrageous.

You’ll find LOL Surprise and the Outrageous Millennial Girls (OMG) on the map’s third page or on Time Tangled Island. Talk to Royal Bee and you’ll be invited to join a mini scavenger hunt for 10 glittering surprises all over the beach house. You’ve got just a few minutes!

Once you find all 10 items, you win! You’ll get to enjoy the Royal Bee and Lady Diva costumes as well as a Party Cruiser accessory.

Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got a clubhouse to visit and videos to see. A Poptropican’s eyeballs always stay popped open! 👀

First up, the official blog’s Clubhouse Crawl series continues with this jungle home from Orange Tiger! You can take the tour on the Pop Creators’ Blog or here in this Instagram video. Look out for the big troll, hex-a-decker couch, and Amelia-approved unicorns! 😈🛋

Speaking of Amelia, remember when she invited us over for tea and made us do her dirty work? The Creators recently dropped a new video playing through Amelia’s “eye-popping” mini quest along with a written guide, but just saying, the PHB’s got one too. 😉☕️🦄

Amelia’s mini quest also hints at lore not yet revealed, particularly through a photograph of a baking session with some mysterious girls and a cat. Some Poptropicans have their theories, and Poptropica promised in a recent tweet that there’s more to come!

If your eyes need to be popped and ears peeled for any video, though, we can’t help but mention our recent hit, “Backspace.” Watch the clip below and get the behind-the-scenes of this “Blank Space” Taylor Swift parody music video created as a lament for Pop’s ex-islands! 🏝🪦

Starting things off with a punch! 👊 These two cool cats are definitely rocking their punk outfits. And those outfits actually come from an outfit meme where fans request an artist to draw characters in specific outfits. Very creative! The fits seem to suit this criminal coupling, right down to the punk piercings and makeup. And I love those dynamic poses! Find her Instagram here and her Tumblr here.

Oooh, now we’re getting into the more spooky side of punk. 💀 As the Poptropica Creators said regarding this work: Gothtropica all the way! So get ready to see this pop-tastic punk design in-game soon. Not only is it perfect for September’s theme, but it is also quite appropriate for the fast-approaching spooky season. As if our first three features weren’t punk enough, this submission rocks our socks off. 🤘 Nothing more punk than a villain, after all! The ripped pants, fingerless gloves, dyed hair, and dramatic makeup all scream punk rock. I could definitely see someone wearing this outfit at a concert, which is appropriate since punk culture has such strong ties to music. Keep rocking it! Find her Instagram here.

Lastly, we have a Betty Jetty piece soaring in. ✈ It seems that the Super Power Island villains really fit our theme, huh? But this rendering stands out because of its ties to Fairy Tale Island as well. Cinder, after all, is basically the punk rock queen of Poptropica. I love seeing this sort of crossover happen in art, and that outfit is definitely on brand for a punk concert. Find the artist in the comments and on Discord.

October: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is October’s theme? October’s theme is…

👻 Ghosts & Ghouls! 👻

As we enter spooky season, it is only appropriate that we begin celebrating Halloween immediately. So for this month, you may also want to take inspiration from trends like Inktober or happyclonetrooper’s Pop-tober prompts.

Fear not! There’s so much you can do with this prompt. Ghost Story Island is a good place to start, but you could even make your own ghost costume or your own, well, ghost story fanfic! Take inspiration from Daphne Dreadnought or even the Haunted House mini-quest. As long as your work includes a spooky specter or fearful phantom, it’ll fit with our theme.
