Current mood: cloudy with a chance of reversible octopus ๐ŸŒฅ

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish here with a store update!

Not all of the items are pictured below, as most are already familiar from previous store rotations. But we also have a few new things in the mix:

In pranks, there’s a new Leprechaun Wand, which pairs well with the returning Leprechaun costume for St. Patrick’s Day this month. ๐Ÿ€

Among the miscellaneous items, we find a new toy: the Reversible Octopus. It’s a handheld item, and when you press space bar, it flips to one of its two modes, angry red or happy yellow! ๐Ÿ™

And in powers, you can now find Mood Clouds, which also comes in two modes: cheery white or melancholic gray. Whichever cloud you pick, it follows you above your head. (There’s me with a floating cloud on the new SpongeBob Island โ€” stay tuned for that update!)

Also, over on Home Island (the snowy version), I discovered a stage with arcade games. Talking to the character standing by will allow you to choose to go to the actual arcade, although the Blast-off Arcade is still on Home Island. But perhaps this is being tested for the new Home Island, which doesn’t have the arcade building? ๐Ÿค”

Ishmael (of SOS Island), is that you?

Anyway, you unfortunately don’t get to play “Tight Shot” and “Rumble Quake” (which seem to be art from PoptropiCon), and “Bot Breaker” comes from American Girl: Courtney’s Island, a former ad space. Just the usual arcade games in the arcade!

That’s it for this post. Keep on popping on, Poptropicans! โœŒ๏ธ

Art and a more aesthetic store? ๐ŸŽจ

Salutations! Maryann here with a recap of the most recent store update and Poptropica’s Instagram spotlight on fan art!

This latest store update was promoted by the Creators in a blog post, which shared a couple interesting future plans. But first, the costumes! The two newest additions are the return of the Orange Julius and Pretty Tough outfits. It seems as though the Creators are already moving towards spring/summer styles!

Their post also mentions Fairy Tale Island, on which the creators have “been hard at work without any breaks.” From the sound of it, we may be seeing a new island soon! They also mentioned working on some updates to the game, but didn’t elaborate.

Speaking of changes, we got confirmation of a store update! It’s supposed to make the shopping experience “easier and more inclusive.” I’m personally hoping for a better sorting system for items, but what do you think?

Now let’s get to the art! (Thanks Gentle Dolphin for the pics!)

Along with a promotion from Coolmath Games to play Poptropica on their website, the Pop Instagram also shared six pieces of fan art, some of which come from active members of the community and the PHC!

Here’s a closer look at that Poptropica Enneagram. You can take a free Enneagram test online to find out which number you are! The Enneagram post is quite fun and gives me vibes of the PHB’s Poptropican zodiac sign post from a while back.

If you’re an artist and you have social media, don’t be afraid to share your work and tag #Poptropica so the Pop Creators can see! Plus, many of Pop players love seeing creative work from fellow Poptropicans.

Well, I think that’s all. I’ll be off for…actually, you know what? I don’t think I’ll disappear just yet.

Keep your eyes out for a…wicked post soon. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

What Airways is really, and Billie โœˆ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽค

Hey Poptropicans! In this post: the secrets of Poptropica Airways (aka Paradise Island), Billie Eilish, and a store update. Let’s pop right in.

Fans have been wondering about a sneak peek of Poptropica Airways posted by the Creators back in August. Although we’ve covered what became of it here on the PHB, the Creators themselves never mentioned it again โ€” until now. In an interview with Poptropica guest blogger Invisible Ring, they finally put some questions to rest!

The main question, of course, is “What is Poptropica Airways?” To that, they answered that it was basically an experiment to help decide what features to develop on Poptropica.

Poptropica Airways, also known as Paradise Island, was a beta experience we created to understand what features players today would like to see in Poptropica. It allowed us to test a new experience for entering the game, news messages, plus daily tasks and rewards. These tests allow us to quickly see what new players are interested in so we know if new features would be a good fit in Poptropica. The news system from Poptropica Airways has already made it into the main game and more features are on their way!

Poptropica Creators’ Blog

Hmm, wonder what other features from Airways/Paradise Island they’ll try to implement into the game? Early perceptions of Paradise were not too favorable, with some players considering it to be an inferior copy of Animal Crossing. Paradise doesn’t seem to be available anymore, but you can read all about it on the PHB!

They go on to say that it’s separate from Poptropica Worlds, is not a new story-focused island, but rather “a new type of Home Island,” is not a station for accessing special islands, and will definitely not be replacing the iconic yellow blimp. You can read the full interview on the Creators’ Blog, and catch up with Invisible Ring on our Discord server, the PHC!

Also on the Creators’ Blog is a fresh Video of the Week! This time, it’s a quick clip from TikTok user @tony_torres38 drawing singer Billie Eilish as a Poptropica character. Looks just like her with the iconic neon green, doesn’t it? View the vid on the official blog!

Last but not least, the store’s been rearranged! Not much is new from before, but the Swan Ballerina and Little Demon costumes were added to the mix. Plus, check out all the fun items in the pet store as well. ๐Ÿถ

That’s it for this post! Thanks for popping by, and see you in the next one. Stay awesome, Poptropicans. โœŒ๏ธ

A very bright clubhouse and store update ๐ŸŽ‡

Hello Poptropicans! Maryann here with a rundown of the latest updates to the clubhouse items, store, and Creators’ Blog!

You have no clue how hard it was to get Denali to pose for these with me.

Many of these new items take on a more modern style, including neon lights and a small vending machine. Thereโ€™s also some gamer oriented decor, including a gaming chair and a neat little wall sign.

All we need now is a gacha system and I can replace my Genshin Impact addiction with a Pop one!

This recent store update included new outfits as well as the return of some familiar ones, including the Heart Astro Knight (a hint at the creators remembering the objectively best much-loved island?), as well as more Winter Girl/Boy sets. New additions include some cute t-shirts!

Along with a clubhouse update post, the Creators’ Blog made another soon after discussing the future of Poptropica in 2021. This post recalls the game’s creation by Jeff Kinney, as well as plans for “new islands… player requested updates to features, launching new side-quests and mini-games, and even giving Home Island a makeover.”

The post ends with dubbing 2021 the “Year of Stories” and hinting at another guest blog post about Paradise (Airport) Island. It also included this really pretty art!

That being said, mentions of new islands have encouraged a pressing question: Where is the news on the Dream Island contest? The most recent addition to the line-up was Goofball Island about a month ago. While outfits and accessories are fun, what makes Poptropica unique are its stories and islands, and it would be nice to have some idea of what is planned for the future, as well as what fan ideas can be achieved through the contest!

I donโ€™t want to end this on a sour note though! So, what are your favorite of these new items? And what are your hopes for future Poptropica islands, both reboots and newcomers?

Hearty items and love, to and from fans ๐Ÿ’

Hello, Poptropicans! Gentle Dolphin here with our first pieces Poptropica news in February. Today, we’ll be seeing new items for players and features of fan works. Let’s take a look!

February has a new pack of member gifts all themed around love. Active members will receive the following items: the Lifted in Love power, which makes NPCs float; the Love Bomb, which explodes in a flurry of hearts; and the Love Rocket Scooter, which allows you to zip around in sweet style. How lovely! โค๏ธ

The store now features cozy winter fashion, Valentine’s goodies, and other miscellaneous items! We also got seven new items: Space Bounty Hunter, Slice of Pizza Tees, King and Queen Hoodies, Baby Alicorn Follower, L.E.D. Me, Valentine Minefield, and Heart Bubble Wand. Two of these items remind me of some shows I heard of, but my little brain can’t figure out what they are. ๐Ÿค”

With so many hearty items around, you’re bound to fall in love with something!

Think I’ll name my new baby alicorn “Cool Whip.”

Two days ago, Poptropica featured a bunch of fan content ranging from art to writing. Poptropica’s latest Instagram story showcased a whopping ten art posts from seven different artists! We have art featuring iconic Pop villains, locations, and community members (including the PHB’s resident jokers).

Last but certainly not least, two new guest posts have appeared on the Creators’ Blog! Monday’s post was from none other than the PHB’s own Purple Paw, who details some of Poptropica’s greatest strengths, such as storytelling and visual design. You can read her full post on the Creators’ Blog as well as some of her other posts here on the PHB!

The second guest post comes from BraveSky, a Poptropica veteran (13 years is as old as the game itself!). She wrote a sonnet based on memories from the distant past, referencing classic bits of the game like breaking out of a box (the old account creation process) and hypnotic fried dough (Monster Carnival). The final couplet wraps it up beautifully:

Who says Poptropica is too different; is that truly so?

Ever stop to realize we have again rooms, shoes, pets, my beautiful afro?

BraveSky

If you’re at least 13 years old and want to join the blogging bandwagon, then you can apply to be a guest writer for the Creators’ Blog. But whether or not you meet those arbitrary age requirements, you can still guest write for the Poptropica Help Blog! Details are explained in our Write for the PHB page.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
