Hey Poptropicans, Slanted Fish here with a few updates: an intriguing tweet, a membership giveaway, and a video highlight. Let’s pop right in!

Ever imagined a concert might be possible on Poptropica? Lil Nas X (perhaps best known for his country rap single “Old Town Road”) allegedly tweeted earlier, “I wanna do a Poptropica concert.”

The news was shared on our Discord server, the PHC, by Red Sun, though the tweet from @LilNasX became unavailable soon after, with no explanation. Maybe because of Poptropica’s platform limitations?

The idea isn’t totally random coming from Lil Nas X, though — only a few months ago, he held an elaborate virtual concert on Roblox, another virtual world game for kids. Who’s to say whether he can pull it off on Poptropica, too? We’d certainly be down for it! 🎤

We’re approaching the end of the month, which means it’s time to announce another lucky Poptropican to win our membership giveaway! Congrats, Emu — after 10 years of playing Pop, you can finally cross getting a membership off your bucket list.

In case you missed it, the PHB is hosting a giveaway every month, and it’s easy to enter! Just comment on the Free Poptropica Membership page and leave at least two other comments around the PHB within the month to be entered into that month’s giveaway.

In other news, the Pop Creators’ Blog posted a real throwback in their latest Video of the Week! This one’s a playthrough of the Haunted House mini-quest shared by Ramsha T:

This classic adventure used to be available from a card in the store back in 2009, then was later released as a special event in 2018. You can read more about it in our Haunted House Guide. If you want more special events like these, let Poptropica know in the comments of their post!

What Airways is really, and Billie ✈👩‍🎤

Hey Poptropicans! In this post: the secrets of Poptropica Airways (aka Paradise Island), Billie Eilish, and a store update. Let’s pop right in.

Fans have been wondering about a sneak peek of Poptropica Airways posted by the Creators back in August. Although we’ve covered what became of it here on the PHB, the Creators themselves never mentioned it again — until now. In an interview with Poptropica guest blogger Invisible Ring, they finally put some questions to rest!

The main question, of course, is “What is Poptropica Airways?” To that, they answered that it was basically an experiment to help decide what features to develop on Poptropica.

Poptropica Airways, also known as Paradise Island, was a beta experience we created to understand what features players today would like to see in Poptropica. It allowed us to test a new experience for entering the game, news messages, plus daily tasks and rewards. These tests allow us to quickly see what new players are interested in so we know if new features would be a good fit in Poptropica. The news system from Poptropica Airways has already made it into the main game and more features are on their way!

Hmm, wonder what other features from Airways/Paradise Island they’ll try to implement into the game? Early perceptions of Paradise were not too favorable, with some players considering it to be an inferior copy of Animal Crossing. Paradise doesn’t seem to be available anymore, but you can read all about it on the PHB!

They go on to say that it’s separate from Poptropica Worlds, is not a new story-focused island, but rather “a new type of Home Island,” is not a station for accessing special islands, and will definitely not be replacing the iconic yellow blimp. Also on the Creators’ Blog is a fresh Video of the Week! This time, it’s a quick clip from TikTok user @tony_torres38 drawing singer Billie Eilish as a Poptropica character. Looks just like her with the iconic neon green, doesn’t it? View the vid on the official blog!

Last but not least, the store’s been rearranged! Not much is new from before, but the Swan Ballerina and Little Demon costumes were added to the mix. Plus, check out all the fun items in the pet store as well. 🐶

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish! 🐠 If you’ve been checking the Poptropica Creators’ Blog lately, you may have seen my first guest post shared there this week. And if it’s your first time here, perhaps because of that post: welcome! Here on the PHB, we’re all about Poptropica. 😄

Introducing myself on the official Pop blog through my Popsona — read it here!

You can see the post for yourself over on the official Pop blog, but it’s basically about creating your own Popsona, or Poptropica persona for your game character. It’s a fun activity that’s been part of the fandom for years, and you can find even more Popsonas from the PHB team here.

Of course, the PHB is a big part of Slanted Fish’s Popsona story, so I had to include it in there as well — and am grateful that the Creators included a link here, to the “Poptropica fan publication known as the Poptropica Help Blog.” Still, the PHB is bigger than just my story — it includes all of you who read it and follow along with us! 📰🏝

In this Video of the Week from the Pop Creators’ Blog, Alana returns to Poptropica after 8 years and plays through Arabian Nights, Ep. 1: How Bazaar. Watch as she rediscovers her old account, calls out an old man for being completely oblivious to theft happening before his eyes, and gets spooked by a handful of the forty thieves:

It’s kind of funny how the Creators’ Blog post starts with “Did you know there are people who have been playing Poptropica for YEARS!?” — more evidence that they’re expecting, and catering to, new players over longtime ones. Speaking of the official blog, did you know there was no Video of the Week last week? 🤔

What does appear to be a regular occurrence, though, are fan art spotlights on the Poptropica Creators’ Instagram story! Check out the latest features from this week:

In other Poptropica news, the formidable Avatar Studio Glitch (ASG) is still going strong, even after the death of Flash. Stylish packs and spider pranks 🐻🕷

Hey Poptropicans, new member gifts are here, and they come in packs of three! First up is the Furry Purse Pack, with variants of a cute brown bear, happy pink bunny (not at all like the evil Dr. Hare), and a sleepy gray kitty. It’s an overshirt item, so it can’t go with jackets.

Then there’s the Snowboard Pack, which has a version with stripes of different colors, another that says “Powder” (interesting brand name?), and one with rounded lines and shades of purple.

The last batch of bonus goods are the RC Cars, or remote controlled cars, although you can’t see the remote. They come in blue (with flames), red (with lightning), or green (truck style), and pressing space bar will make the car drive around a couple times on the ground.

All in all, that’s 9 new member gifts to kick off the new year! But if you don’t have a membership yet, why not enter our giveaways for Free Poptropica Membership? While that’s happening, there’s plenty of new stuff for all players over at the store. In other news, here’s what the Pop Creators have been featuring this week on social media. On their Instagram story this Friday, they shared two pieces of fan art as well as a snap of Binary Bard socks from the Poptropica merch store. Have you gotten your Pop swag yet?

On the Creators’ Blog, they shared a Video of the Week from Shade-e’s 101, who recorded himself exploring his friend’s clubhouse. The Creators mentioned how they loved seeing the Poptropica community be supportive of one another, and that you can tag your videos with “Poptropica” for a chance to have them featured!
