Placing Poptropica on Roblox’s Map ๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿ—บ

Good morning, gamers (or whatever time it is) โ€” straight from Pop!

But maybe not just Pop. The Creators’ Blog just announced something major: Poptropica is releasing a Roblox game! And here’s a sneak peek:

Now what could this be? Our theory is that this looks a lot like Monster Carnival Island, with its dark mystical aura and swan boat reminiscent of the one inside the Tunnel of Love where you spoil a moment with two teenaged lovers. However, this will be neither an island nor quest.

Still, it will be “based on a fan-favorite island,” which could mean an off-shoot of Monster Carnival or something else. It’s certainly interesting that Poptropica is expanding into Roblox, a kids’ virtual world which nowadays has many more active players than Pop, and it’s possible Pop is trying to tap into this audience.

But we also can’t help but wonder about the implications of Pop building on another game โ€” thereby focusing fewer resources on their own game. (Old islands, when?)

More news will be coming in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Poptropica recently tweeted a little activity titled “design your dream Poptropica map,” lined with icons of old islands and ranked with dollar amounts ranging from $1โ€“5. The challenge is to fit your faves on an imaginary map with just $20 โ€” which ones will make the cut?

Could this be a sign that Poptropica is taking player feedback on which of the more popular classics to bring back, or are they just playing with our hopes again? Is their pulse correct on which islands are considered more valuable? That’s all up for debate, but at any rate, it’s another critical hit for all the nostalgic players out there.

Odd memes with IRL crossovers continue on Twitter, with one on Wheel of Fortune hinting at Tessa Turncoat from PoptropiCon, and another on Dr. Hare-like costumed cyclists going wild:

Also on Twitter, Poptropica has been sharing some pretty cool fan art. Take a look!

Over on Instagram, Poptropica shared on their story a page of fan art doodles as well as a Pop poll on favorite characters. Check ’em out:

That wraps up this update. What do you think of the upcoming Roblox debut? What islands are on your dream Poptropica map? How did Dr. Hare break the fourth wall? Share with us in the comments below!

Baron’s airship and art are back! โš“

‘Allo Poptropicans! I am back and so is the Baron’s Airship, with 24 Carrot magic in the air~

Hop aboard and grab the most recent costume contest winner: the De-Man by Striped Thunder. (It’s free as always.) Remember these contests are held monthly, so there’s always a chance for you to join!

On the other side of the Cabin of Curiosities, there is also some memorabilia released straight from 24 Carrot Island. If any of you want to decorate your clubhouse like that classic island, now is your chance! The full set includes the Carrot King Diner’s Booth (50 credits), Table (50), Hanging Lamp (50), Salt-n-Pepper Shakers (10 credits), Exit Sign (50), and Carrot King Sign (100). ๐Ÿฅ•

Also off to the side, you can grab the returning Gothic Cheerleader costume for 100 credits. Dark yet alluring.

Over at Adventure Outfitters, we have some new items for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day, the holiday of lucky green. โ˜˜๏ธ

This includes a returning Leprechaun Costume and several green furnishing items for your clubhouse. Does the “wear green” rule count in Pop if your home is decked out in it? ๐Ÿค” You can also opt for the Mardi Gras Jester Costume which technically has some green.

Also, here is a whole paragraph just for that lion plush because it is so cute. I’d want one IRL. ๐Ÿฆ

March member gifts have also arrived, sprouting a Flower Crown, Crazy Bee Follower, and Flower Bow. Perhaps Poptropica could have a prettier and less deadly Hunger Games in the future.

The official Instagram also shared more memes, art, and mixes of the two, including my own piece remembering the classic Astro-Knights Island (soon to have its release anniversary in April)!

And that’s all! I’ll get back to working on that Mordred piece now. Do you have any cute or cool ideas for future members’ gifts? And how are you going to “go green” on March 17? โ˜˜๏ธ

Until my next news update, The Villain Saga post, or Astro-Knights ramble โ€” see you around.

Filling Blanks, Firing Blanks ๐Ÿ’จ

Hey Poptropicans! Two updates from the Creators’ Blog to cover: a downtime activity and a downer analysis. Let’s pop into it.

Poptropica shared a new fill-in-the-story activity to play around with: simply come up with a list of words following the parts of speech listed, and plug them into the blanks in the story below to enjoy a unique tale.

The concept comes from Mad Libs, and if you’ve been around awhile, you may even remember that Poptropica released its own Mad Libs book back in 2012! You can still try a free page from that book at this link.

In other news, guest writer Busy Walker has kicked off a new series on the Creators’ Blog called Real World Conversations, which aims to “relate current world events to Poptropica.” It’s an interesting premise, but…

In this first attempt, Walker compares the unfolding Russian invasion of Ukraine with helplessly chasing the havoc-wreaking genie on Arabian Nights Island. Maybe it’s the choice of heavy subject matter feeling like a stretch in this case, but something about this one just seems odd to us.

But now here is the point: sometimes it needs to be said, stuff that isnโ€™t 100% happy.

Busy Walker

People everywhere are empathizing with those affected by the vastly unwanted war in Ukraine, including us here at the PHB. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ™ We’re not sure comparing the dire situation to Poptropica is doing it much justice, but it does at least get a conversation going.

Anyway, Walker’s post ends with a change of subject: a reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins on March 13 (for those who live somewhere where that’s used). Well, we’ll look forward to the next guest post โ€” hopefully one that adds up! Stay safe out there, Poptropicans.

Pop Peepers, Reapers, and Streamers ๐Ÿ‘€

Hey Poptropicans! Pop in for vids, fan art, and a call for streamers. โœจ

If you’ve been keeping eyes on Poptropica’s YouTube and TikTok, it’s no secret they’ve been wildin’ with their short clips. Between the Fresh Prince of Poptropica, busting out of Pelican Rock with Khloe Kardashian, and cringey Ben Franklin, Poptropica promo continues to go wacky and meme-y. Just peep at the Pop eyeballs on Renaissance portraits:

Weird, wonderful, or both? We’ll let the Poptropican people be the judge of that. At any rate, it sure takes art to a different level.

The Poptropican Mona Lisa in Leo’s Workshop on Time Tangled Island.

Over on Twitter, things are a little calmer, with Poptropica retweeting fan art featuring classic characters. Even villains can work together:

And here’s another โ€” an imagination of the classic Ghost Story Island:

Speaking of Twitter, remember Poptropica’s mass unfollowing of Poptropica fans in 2018? After going from following hundreds to just 19 accounts, Poptropica in 2022 has picked up some new names to keep up with, bringing their total to 57 following.

A glance at the current list reveals some brands with ties to Poptropica (including the PHB, Thinknoodles, and Coolmath Games), but also others that seem less related. They may be for the current social media manager’s curiosities (Trident Gum? Wholesome Memes? Crunchyroll Business?), or perhaps are hopes for collaboration (Nintendo? KFC Gaming? Pokemon Go? Funko Pops? Minecraft?). Still, kinda odd…

Last but not least, Poptropica put out a call on Twitter for links to Pop livestreams! Several streamers responded to the thread, so feel free to check out their gameplays if you’re interested. ๐ŸŽฎ

Enjoy the weekend, Poptropicans!

Custom Cards and a Blogger’s Break ๐Ÿƒ

Cards on the table, Poptropicans: we’ve got challenge results and a blogging goodbye. Let’s pop right in.

Earlier we saw the showcase of Dream Cosplay Outfits from the first PoptropiCon Challenge, and now it’s time for the second and final: Mighty Action Force cards! It’s a mighty little collection:

We’ve got Popsona OCs like Red Toes, Silver Gamer, Sneaky Boa, and Barefoot Knuckle, as well as Poptropica personalities like Alphaon, Octavian, Medusa, and even CJ from Shrink Ray Island but turned demonic. Plus there’s one inspired from pop culture: Katniss Everdeen.

As with the first challenge, all participants get an unspecified amount of credits added to their accounts. Power up, Poptropicans!

(Update: According to one participant in the comments, the prize was 5,000 credits. Thanks, wolfhunter77!)

Also on the Creators’ Blog, guest writer Invisible Ring has announced a “well-earned hiatus” from posting on the official blog. In the past year, she’s written ten guest posts, which she’s linked here in a list.

The name might ring a bell for you: Ring is the producer of the Poptropica fan movie Battle Morale. We recently had her for an interview here on the PHB, so be sure to check that out and catch the feature-length film on her YouTube channel. Enjoy!
