Goofball Island, Mini Quests

Blitz on the Fritz Side Quest Guide ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“บ

Coming at you live from the Hive: the Goofball Island sequel side quest, Blitz on the Fritz, is here for members!

To get started, talk to the unicycling Mayor Naise on Home Island or head straight to Main Street on Goofball Island. You’ll need to have completed the island first. Now, talk to news reporter Katie Dare in front of the bumblebee yellow Hive News van to take on the challenge!

Accept, and Katie will let you inside the van and in on a secret: she’s made quite a mess by giving one of her bee-shaped camera bots a blandifying device, and now the bee bot has been turning islands either too bland or goofy. It’s up to you to restore the islands!

Looks like Fry’s Fried Freds also serves soft drinks.

Click on a TV to head to its location. You’ll have a minute to spray each scene back to normal with your own device, all while Blitz the red bee bot tries to take over with his device. As long as you’ve recovered at least 50% of the scene (indicated in the top corner) by the time the bot’s battery dies, you’ll have succeeded. Keep going till you get all four!

For Fairytale and Mythology, you’ll need to bring them from bland to bright again, while for Survival and Escape From Pelican Rock, you’re getting them from goofy to good. Just for comparison fun, here are the original scenes with the new:

Once you’ve saved the islands, you’ll be rewarded with a Zip Follower and 2,000 credits! FYI, Zip is almost as big as your Poptropican.

That side quest just zipped right by, didn’t it? While it’s fun to have some new content to play with, the game itself isn’t all that challenging, particularly with its low bar of just having to save half the scene to call it a day. Still, it’s interesting to have some new characters and a little bit of a story, with bubbly Katie Dare engaging in some shady news-making on a slow news day and trying to fix things by pulling you in.

There are also some nice details to appreciate in the art, whether in the topsy turvy island scenes or inside the news van. Wonder if we’ll get to meet the whole bee gang with Zip, Honey, Flit, Chad, Queen, and of course our wayward boy Blitz? Plus, what are Katie’s colleagues going to think of this whole sticky situation? Until next time, we’re buzzing off.

Plaid Patterns Battle Bionic Bee Blitz ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ

Hey there, Poptropicans! The Pop Creators gave us new items to buy, new videos to watch, and new teasers to ponder. Let’s take a look at what they shared today, starting with a preview of a loading screen advertising the upcoming Goofball Island side quest!

This screenshot confirms the quest’s title to be “Blitz on the Fritz” and gives us a better idea of the storyline. It seems that Blitz, a red robot bee, is wreaking havoc across Poptropica and causing various islands to either go goofy or become bland. Players might need to do some island-hopping to complete this quest, much like they did during Rumpel’s riddle hunt in Fairytale Island’s side quest.

Is Blitz acting alone or is it working with its bee buddies? Is Katie Dare the mastermind of this island-transforming spree? Members can tune in to stop this byte-sized pest and return Poptropica to normalcy! ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ

Before a bionic swarm hits Poptropica, let’s see what new items are in store this week. Do Mondays get you in a shopping mood? This drawing by Friendly Feather sums up our mood whenever Pop updates its in-game shops. No Amelias are available for purchase yet. ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœ๏ธ

Adventure Outfitters continues Pop’s winter fashion trend with the Frosty Babe outfit, which boasts super cute red plaid flannel vest and earmuffs. Everyone can purchase this flannel-tastic outfit for 250 credits. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

The clubhouse store added five new winter decorations and two returning classics. All players can buy the Pinecone Garland (100 credits), Hanging Snowflake (75 credits), Scented Candle (75 credits), and Tea Set (200 credits). Members can also buy the all-new Honeycomb Shelf (150 credits) as well as the returning Pop Star Poster (75 credits) and Stained Glass Window (250 credits).

Two new videos have been uploaded to Poptropica’s Youtube channel. The first video is a nostalgic lookback at Nabooti Island‘s mancala minigame. What are your thoughts on this classic game of stones and strategy?

The second video is admittedly more interesting. This video confirms that PoptropiCon: Episode 2 will be returning soon! While this video is basically a reupload of the original PoptropiCon trailer from 2014, the news of another PoptropiCon episode returning to the game is exciting. ๐Ÿฆธ

Last but not least, the Pop Creators recently featured a costume contest submission in their latest Instagram story. IG user clovermulo aka Curious Heart designed a stylish Thrifty Girl costume complete with preppy plaid threads, caramel highlights, and sparkly heart earrings. If you want to enter this month’s costume contest, submit your designs before January 17th at 8pm PST.

That’s all for now! Are you looking forward to the release of Goofball’s side quest? How about the return of PoptropiCon: Episode 2? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for our post covering Goofball Island: Blitz on the Fritz!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Grappling with Grapple-Pap ๐ŸŽโ„๏ธ

Grab on for a happy Grapple-Pap, Poptropicans!

For the second year of this Poptropica winter holiday, the Grapple-Gift Side Quest has returned. It’s exactly like last year’s โ€” heart attacks, Grapple-Pops and all. Get the gist in our Grapple-Gift Guide! ๐ŸŽ

Talk to the old man outside Adventure Outfitters to set off on the snowy village. While you’re on Home Island, you might also notice Bosko with a car in repair calling you to Goofball Island, as well as the fact that the Baron has taken off without so much as a goodbye.

So anyway, what exactly is Grapple-Pap? The side quest reveals it’s both a holiday and a scary creature, with the legend: “If you donโ€™t spread cheer to all who are near, Grapple-Pap will get you for one whole year!”

The Creators’ Blog also shares, “the ideas behind Grapple-Pap are based in other cultures’ celebrations.” We see Christmas garlands, Krampus on pillars, and Scandinavian attire and architecture (similar to Disney’s Frozen). What else does Grapple-Pap remind you of?

Poptropica’s Instagram story also continues the Grapple-Pap hype with a pop quiz (and hello, Club Penguin dance!). Plus it’s a good thing we all have our blimps, or happyclonetrooper’s latest meme might have brought on the wrath of Grapple-Pap. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Speaking of cheer-spreading season, the PHB is hosting a Grapple-Pap Party this Saturday, Dec 18 at 8 pm Eastern / 5 pm Pacific! We’ll be hanging out in Poptropica’s Arcade and on our PHC Discord server (watch out for snowballs). Come out for a chill time! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽŠโ˜ƒ๏ธ

Baron's Airship, Mini Quests

Treasures laid for the Baron’s Crusade ๐Ÿ—บโ˜ ๏ธ

Ahoy, Poptropicans! The Baron’s side quest is here as promised, and it’s available to all players. Read on for a spoiler-full walkthrough!

To get started, meet the Baron in her quarters, a new room you’ll find aboard her big airship. Head inside the Cabin of Curiosities and open the hatch below the Baron’s throne. Under the shop, you’ll find the Baron poring over maps. She’ll ask you to join her in digging up treasure on a secret island that’s not on your map. Accept, and off we go!

You’ll land on the shore of a quiet island that feels kinda like the final scene of Skullduggery Island, where OG Poptropicans would have beaten Captain Crawfish to a hidden treasure. Curiously, the Baron later mentions that the treasure we’re now looking for belonged to the captain! (Is he still alive…?) Anyway, head up the hill and enter the cave.

(Sighting secrets: In the water, thereโ€™s a purple alien orb reminiscent of Mission Atlantis, while in the distance, we can see the skull-shaped rock of the Pirate Outpost from Skullduggery. Thanks to Ammonite for the tips!)

Inside the cave, the Baron follows you. Head right, skipping over all the gaps until you reach some greenish stone. From here, head downwards, watching out for the poison darts that will knock you back. When you touch water, swim left until you come across a lever. Click on it to lower the water level, which allows you to swim right to the next lever by the barred hole. Click that and the water level goes down some more, allowing you to swim all the way left, where you’ll find the next puzzle.

You’ll come face-to-face with a giant stone wheel with mysterious markings on it (is that a % sign?). But don’t worry about that โ€” the Baron’s got it under control. While she’s the brains of this operation, you’re the brawn. With the Baron’s trusty wrench, you’re all set to whack any “guards” of the treasure… and here they come now!

A mini-game will start, and it’s basically whack-a-mole with skeletons popping up from any of the nine large holes under the treasure wheel. You’ll have to move your view back and forth as you can’t see all the holes at once. The skeletons don’t go away easily either: they have to climb out quite a bit first before smacking them has the desired effect, but you can’t wait too long, or you’ll have to start the mini-game over.

Once you successfully hold off the skeletons long enough, the Baron will unlock the wheel, revealing a treasure vault full of gold, gemstones, and Captain Crawfish’s hat and sword. For your part, she’ll share 500 credits and a pirate costume with you. Congrats and enjoy!

Back at the Baron’s, you can learn more about this daredevil sky pirate through conversation as well as exploring her home, just like in Amelia’s side quest. Speaking of Amelia, there’s tea to be uncovered…

Over in the top right corner of the Baron’s quarters, there’s an abandoned little box with a unicorn plushie and frame jutting out. Click on it and you’ll see an old news clipping behind smashed glass, with a photo of Amelia and the Baron together like best buds. The headline from the Poptropica Times reads, “Local Adventurers Save the Island.”

What fractured their friendship? For now, the Baron reveals only that she had a crew once, and that “trust is hard to come by.”

There’s more to discover around the Baron’s quarters. What surprises have you found? Read on for more trivia and theories!

Baby Ack plushie, golden Rumpelstiltskin, and more treasures await…

To the left of the Baron, you’ll find her fearsome portrait with first mate Ack the monkey, and a familiar green skull that activates the whack-a-mole mini-game from earlier (just for practice!). Playing the Baron’s Bucket of Bones earns you 50 credits per completion, much like “Clear the Skies,” the plane mini-game on the airship deck.

Head down to the lower floor and you’ll see a map on the wall that shows the Baron’s been looking for a “golden city.” Could this be a hint for the upcoming Secret of the Jade Scarab Island, which involves archeological digs for treasure? At any rate, the map bears some interesting port names (potential relations in parentheses): Yoller or Holler (a loud shout), Mustang (sports car), Rhe or Rye (grain), Sanders (Bernie or Colonel?), Omamora (close to omamori, Japanese luck amulets), Lagos (Nigeria’s largest city).

You can also scan through titles of books on her shelf: Lost Cities of Poptropica, Grappling with Grapple-Pap, Into the Maw of Glowbhax: In Search of the Island Devourer (perhaps a reference to Haxe, which did kind of devour many islands). The Baron sure likes her myths legends.

Also in this corner nook, you’ll find a framed photo of the Baron and Ack inside a bank, throwing money down to people on the street. Robbery with a Robin Hood twist? Anyway, there’s another pic of this adventuresome duo beside where Ack sleeps, and it’s adorbs.

Thanks for joining us in exploring the Baron’s Crusade and cabin! What did you think of this side quest of skullduggery? Do you have theories about the Baron’s history with Amelia, or any other aspects of her life? Share with us in the comments. Happy sailing!
