Hey armadillos, the Poptropica Store is open!

Shark Boy worded the great update very well on the Creators’ Blog:

Today is a BIG day for Poptropica; we have opened the doors to our new online store where you can buy awesome outfits, abilities, and more! To purchase anything in the store you need Poptropica credits. You get 100 credits FREE for every island you complete, or you can purchase more with a credit card.

Quick Tips:
*Some outfits allow you to change their colors!
*Some outfits have special abilities. For instance, you just press the SPACEBAR key on your computer, and the Rock Stars will rock out on their guitars!

Thanks, Shark Boy!

So, log in and spend your credits! There’s lots of cool and exciting things with this new update. Firstly, to access it, click on the 3-dimensional star icon on the top-right corner, next to the Inventory. If you would like to, there is now an option to change your password! Therefore, please don’t post any more accounts on the Poptropica Talk page as they most likely will be stolen.

As mentioned above, you will get 100 credits for each island you complete! If you haven’t already finished all of them, check out our handy Island Help guides. Alternatively, you can also buy your credits with real world money using a credit card. Thanks to Grey Flame for the image found at http://poptropica.com/store_info.html:

Some costumes have a special action, such as Robin Hood. To perform this action, wear the costume and then press the space bar on your keyboard. For example, the Robinhood Outfit will cause your character to shoot an arrow with the bow. These actions could be useful for making videos!

By the way, female characters (girls) have more options in the “Special Costumes” area. There is more stuff they can wear there that boys don’t get to purchase, such as the “Fairy Queen” or “Geisha”!

To access these purchased items, go to your Inventory, and click on the scroll bar at the top. Click on the gold words, which say “Purchased Items”, and you’ll be able to use your items! Also, you may have noticed the Games button to be gone. Well, don’t worry too much – right underneath “Purchased Items” is “Games”, where you can see all your game cards. And as some of you have seen – right underneath Games is Astro-Knights! They’re probably just preparing for the island’s release, but there’s another hint that it’s coming really soon.

And Poptropica’s homepage has slightly changed! The buttons at the bottom of where you log in have now been formed into a bar, which looks much nicer. Thanks again to Grey Flame for taking this picture for us:

It was a beautiful Monday morning. Ned Noodlehead decided to take the day off to visit his favorite vacationing spot, Reality TV Island. The sun was shining down his back, and he loved how it felt. He strolled through the forests quietly, admiring nature, gasping at every little leaf. And suddenly, out popped an armadillo, big and brown, but with a friendly smile. It looked up at Ned. Ned shyly smiled back and waved. “Isn’t he cute?” he said aloud.

Undercover Visitors

Don’t forget! Tomorrow (Sunday, May 31st, 2009) marks the date of our special surprise for all you readers in honor of our recent one million hits! Check the PHB tomorrow to more about this totally RARE oppurtunity. Be prepared!

Need more visitors for your Poptropica webpage? Now that we’ve got at least 20 sites successfully listed in our affiliate site’s Blogroll page, we’ve decided it would be a great idea to move it here. Check out this updated version of Poptropica Links: PHB’s Poptropica Directory!

Don’t worry, our Poptropica Links website (http://poptropicalinks.wordpress.com/) is still there, and you can still use it. But what’s great is that we’ve decided to move the Poptropica directory to Poptropica Help Blog too, so that people who have never heard of Poptropica Links will now have a better chance of viewing the advertised sites – through PHB!

You can now leave kind criticism comments to help people improve their sites, leave ratings, and much more. Remember, you can still go to the original Poptropica Links site to advertise. In fact, if your site gets approved, not only will it be shown on the new directory, but also the Blogroll page and widget on the original P.L. site! It’s a three-in-one offer; absolutely beneficial to other Poptropica website owners!

Considering that it’s the only area in this whole blog where you’re allowed to advertise (Poptropica-related content only, of course), it wouldn’t hurt to try it. So, without further ado, come to the PHB’s Poptropica Directory or the Poptropica Links site for more information!

Poptropica Help Blog news: The Mechanical Fever, part 2

We all know how dangerous the multiplayer rooms in Poptropica are. And now we have news that it’s getting worse. The seriously infected Poptropican, who goes by the name of Binary Bard, has just visited the Coconut Cafe on Shark Tooth Island. The germs he carries are traveling faster and faster. But does he feel guilty about all this? Not at all! He’s been telling other Poptropicans the same story:

My visit to Shark Tooth Island today had to be under cover. It looks like Astro-Knights Island is so eager to be released that parts of it have started to sneak out into the main Poptropica population.

Costumizer’s Sister: the Colorizer

Meet the Customizer‘s sister, the Colorizer! Like “sisters”, they both serve a similar purpose – spicing up your Poptropican character! Similar to the Customizer, this new wowing peek from the Creators (Dr. Hare this time) shows something called the “Colorizer”, where you will soon be able to edit your character’s colors!

Blog Post Title: The Colorizer
Description: The Colorizer will make coloring your character a breeze… anywhere, any color.

Image Name: colorizer.png

With this cool upcoming feature, we won’t have to use cheat codes or travel to faraway islands just to change our character’s colors! This sneak peek shows that we are able to color hair and skin with a never-before-seen shade of green as well as some other cool color tones to pick from. Maybe someday they’ll even let us change the color of our outfits! Speaking of outfits… the example character is wearing a really cool Robin Hood-like costume, complete with bow and arrows! I hope we’ll be able to Customize this on Astro-Knights Island, especially since it looks so medieval-themed!

Oh, and if you look closely at the background (which shows Main Street on 24 Carrot Island), you’ll notice a star symbol next to the Inventory, and the Games button is gone! Many think that the star button could either be the Colorizer or the Poptropica Credits thing from the post below, because the credits sneak peek also shows the star button there.

There’s also a new poll on the PCB: Which are you most excited for? This time there are only two options – ‘The Poptropica Store’ and ‘Astro-Knights Island’. AK Island is by far winning this one, with 77% of all votes at the time of my posting this. Therefore, the Poptropica Store has 22% of all votes.

Poptropica Credits, Stats, Store, Stuff and More!

A big WOW!!!

Poptropica Creator Shark Boy has just revealed a major update that will be coming soon. We don’t know a whole lot about it, but here’s what Shark Boy said on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog:

We’ve been working on a bunch of “super-special” outfits, new abilities, and some other awesome stuff that we will be offering for Poptropica credits. You can earn FREE credits for each island you beat, or you can purchase more credits. Poptropica credits can be used to get some cool stuff from our store. Stay tuned, coming soon!

Looks cool. From SB’s post, we gather this info:

Stats
There will be a new interface called “Stats”. This will have/show:

  • Your character’s Poptropica name (such as Invisible Foot in the picture)
  • A picture of your character’s current look
  • Your battle ranking from playing multiplayer games in chat rooms
  • The number of “Poptropica Credits” you have, and a button to be able to purchase more of these credits.
  • An option to change your account’s password
  • Which island medallions you have
  • Your recent Poptropica activities – whether it’s just logging in or winning/losing a multiplayer game
  • A box telling you what’s happening around Poptropica: the example talks about Astro-Knights coming up!
  • Poptropica Store: you’ll get to spend your credits on cool rock star outfits and more!

Store
There’s also going to be a “Store” tab. So far, this is what we know:

  • Poptropica will be having a store for buying in-game items and powers. The “super-special” costumes they are working on can be bought here, as well as some new abilities (possibly Comic Kid’s new emotes from the many previous sneak peeks?) and other awesome stuff!
  • To shop at the store, you need “Poptropica Credits”, which are going to be Poptropica’s “money”, or their type of currency.
  • Some free credits can be gained from completing island quests.
  • You can purchase more credits, most likely with real-world money, such as American dollars.

Stuff
Lastly, there will be an interface titled “Stuff”. We don’t really know what this is, but maybe it’s a new type of inventory. Maybe all your equipment from Time Tangled, 24 Carrot or whatever island will be moved to this tab. (Just a guess.)

So now we know what the “super-special” outfits were for. At least we get credits for finishing an island too, so even if you aren’t allowed to buy stuff off the Internet, you’ll still get a chance to spend a few. Magic Monster suggests that maybe winning multiplayer games might also get you credits, because they mention winning and losing Soupwords and Balloons in the “Recent Activity” section. However, that could mean we could get credits just for logging in – which is a bit unlikely, but we don’t know for sure. What do you think?

Also, as Incredible Fish noted, you will soon be able to change your Poptropican’s password! So when this update comes, please don’t give away accounts on the Poptropica Talk page (or anywhere else on this site) to the public, or it may become out-of-date very quickly because there are people out there who like to mess up accounts. Other people won’t be able to use most of our Poptropica Talk accounts soon, so enjoy them while you can!

Snapshot Sagas
Vlad encounters a “visitor of mysterious origin” in this next episode of Snapshot Sagas! Check it out:

I had such a relaxing week! I was sipping some coconut milk at the Coconut Cafe and taking in some sun on the tropical Shark Tooth Island beach. My relaxing time didn’t last long however, because I ran into something out of this world on my latest trip to the Coconut Cafe! It was a Poptropican named Striped Hero, but I couldn’t be sure if he was really from Poptropica because I had never seen anything like him before! He was just as friendly as any other Poptropican that I have met, and I was able to take a photo with him, but his origins are still a great mystery to me!

Congratulations Striped Hero! You have been the latest visitor of mysterious origin featured on Snapshot Sagas!

Keep looking for me anytime you visit an island! You could be the next Poptropican (or mysterious visitor) featured on Snapshot Sagas!

Congratulations from the PHB, Striped Hero! And as Cheerful Claw said, we definitely won’t have to worry about them delaying Astro-Knights any longer because they’re acknowledging the fact that the cyborg-face is out. Take a look at The Mechanical Fever news post to learn more about this metallic mask!
