Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: ANNE14TCO

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here with another Pop Fan Artist Spotlight! Previously, I showcased the amazing art of BlazingAngel123 and treesareredinautumn. The featured artist this time around is ANNE14TCO, or more simply known as Anne.

Anne predominantly creates digital art of her OCs but also writes about them in her “The Chosen Ones” fan fiction and does animation.

Anne is known for using many cool special effects in her art which, in my opinion, adds a magical quality to her already phenomenal illustrations. It really makes you feel like you could dive right into her drawings, which I love!

Check out this collection of some of her visual art below:

Anne says she may pursue a career in any field in the arts whether that be a songwriter or a movie animator. I know she’ll do a wonderful job with whatever she decides to do. 😉

If anyone’s curious to know which software programs Anne uses to create her stunning masterpieces, she mostly uses Paint Tool Sai but also uses MediBang, FireAlpaca, Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, and Adobe Flash/Animate.

Anyway, I strongly encourage you to check out her DeviantArt gallery to see more of her work! It’s truly pleasing to the eye.

And that concludes this artist spotlight! I hope you enjoyed this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork. Perhaps you’re even encouraged to make your own Poptropica fan art. If you’ve created some of your own, we’d love for you to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica.

Poptropica Portfolio

Poptropica Portfolio: Kyle Fox

A new Poptropica Portfolio is here – and in this case the featured artist is Kyle Fox, a designer who has been working with web and mobile products for kids for over 10 years now. He’s posted lots of his work with Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds on his Behance portfolio, and it’s pretty impressive!

First up, we have a Zomberry Pitch Bible, a compendium of Zomberry information used to pitch the idea of Zomberries as “The Walking Dead for kids.” Essentially it’s a series of infographics covering everything Zomberry Island, like the details of the Zomberry outbreak, setting, Zomberries themselves, and more. (Click on the pics to enlarge them!)

He’s also made some spectacular art for past advertisements on Poptropica. Check out the ad designs for Moana, Mr. Lemoncello’s Library, and Coco!

Then we come to some character designs, which include Poptropica Worlds Mythology Island NPCs, plus store costumes of modern styles, Wild West fashion, and the app-exclusive Fall Fashion and Winter bundles. Also, jungle animals for some ads.

Kyle has also built up a small but impressive collection of printable posters for various islands, including Virus Hunter postcards with body-themed puns, Zomberry prints resembling movie posters, and a Monster Carnival poster reminiscent of a circus flyer.

Quite a few infographics on Poptropica for the years 2012 and 2016 are also among his works. These cover descriptions and statistics about various islands, the Friends feature, and Poptropica as a whole.

Additionally, Kyle has engineered sound effects for Worlds and composed music for Poptropica. The most noteworthy in his collection is a demo of a proposed theme song for Poptropica, which has never been used (but totally should be!). The playful tune incorporates a tropical theme, with flutes, various percussion instruments, and ends with a group of kids singing in chorus: “Poptropica.”

There’s lots more Poptropica work for viewing on Kyle’s Behance site. If you enjoyed these highlights, check out the rest of his portfolio here!

Hopefully you enjoyed this Poptropica Portfolio! If you did, you might also like the many other Poptropica Creators’ portfolios we’ve featured here. Check them out, too!

Until next time,

Ex Super Villains Doing not so Super Things by CrazyPaintbrush

CrazyPaintbrush - Ex Super Villains Doing Not So Super Things

This is super cute! I snickered a bit when I saw this, because it’s really funny to imagine all these big bad villains doing… well, “not so super things.” From the detail in Copy Cat’s book (How to Survive Roommates)  to the cool outfit changes, this piece was very thoughtful! If I had flying powers, I think I would use it a good 90% of the time to avoid traffic. Totally cool and funny! Find her DeviantArt here.

Poptropica Jokes by Creeper Queen

  1. It doesn’t make sense that Mordred (from Astro Knights) goes by his other alias, I personally think he’s non-BINARY.
  2. Does anyone know if Mordred is good with trading? He seems like he’d be good at BARD-er.
  3. What did Poseidon say to Hades (Mythology Island) after he saw pomegranates for the first time? “HADES look pretty neat!”
  4. You know how there are 5 episodes in Survival Island? Wouldn’t that make it Sur-FIVE-al Island?
  5. You know how Tessa Turncoat double-crossed the player? It was a true PoptropiCON in Poptropicon Island!
  6. After Mr. Silva tried to steal CJ’s invention, she needed to see a SHRINK for advice on what to do to prevent it from happening again!
  7. The Great Booga Shark never tells shark lies. He only tells the shark TOOTH.
  8. In my opinion, Red Dragon Island didn’t dragON for too long!
  9. Why did Salerno (Lunar Colony) jump into the portal in the end? She coloNEEDED to see that aliens were real!
  10. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island, what did Willy Wonka say to Charlie after Violet blew up with juice? “Did JUICY how big she got?!”
  11. What animation company created Shrek in the Poptropica world STEAMWORKS animation!

Welp, I told you guys I was a sucker for puns! A bunch of these are pretty darn creative and certainly made me smile. Another Wild Adventure by ANNE14TCO and BlazingAngel123

ANNE14TCO and BlazingAngel 123 - Another Wild Adventure

Wow, we haven’t seen many collabs in this series! The combination of talent makes for one amazing piece. The shading, coloring detail, etc. rocks, but the facial expressions are what really made me laugh! I think most people can easily see their own Poptropican in this situation. Plus, it’s super cool to see a screenshot sort of style! The movement depicted is great, so it really feels like a photo was taken of the chaos. Find Anne’s DeviantArt here and BlazingAngel’s DeviantArt here. The former mainly did the coloring and the latter mainly did the lineart!

World’s Craziest Food Fight by Red Tomato

Red Tomato - World's Craziest Food Fight

A photo booth entry is always a nice change of pace! And this one is no exception. With all the chaos in this picture, it’s pretty goofy. I especially like how Red Tomato looks so calm in the foreground while everyone else is practically battling to the death! Have any of you had a food fight in school? Find Red Tomato often in the comments section.

i bet yall werent expecting THIS by Napstachill

Napstachill - i bet yall werent expecting THIS

I… will never be able to get over this drawing. I always knew Zeus was the god of thunder but I never knew he had thunder thighs too! Look at his smug face! It’s hilarious and like the title implies… unexpected. Though the drawing is a bit dated by now, I think it holds up to the test of time. It’s pretty simple, but well made nonetheless. Honorable Mentions

Not a whole lot of entries this month, but still good ones regardless. Keep showing us your amazing talent guys!

May: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fic, realms, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is May’s theme? May’s theme is…

Heroes!

I’m sure most of you have been freaking out about Marvel’s Infinity War lately, so what better theme than heroes? Even if you aren’t on the superhero hype train, Poptropica has it’s own set of otherworldly protectors. From Super Power Island itself to PoptropiCon, caped Poptropicans are hard to miss!

So, what sort of stuff can you make? You could write up a Poptropica comic, starring your own Poptropican as the hero! Or, create Poptropica costumes for your favorite Marvel, DC, and other characters. Even draw some of your favorite PoptropiCon inspired battles perhaps! The list goes on, so have fun with it!

Jump, duck, and dodge! – DuckTales ad

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here to show you a pretty cool advertisement on Poptropica Original for Disney XD’s Duck Tales, which you can find on Home Island.

Poptropica Duck Tales

In this ad, there are three levels to be completed to be able to earn the prizes. You’ll have the option to choose your favorite duck to play as for all three. I chose Louie because he wears my favorite color. 😛

Anyway, go on inside and talk to Webby to start up the first mini-game.

Like many ad games we’ve seen before, this one is really simple. All you have to do is click and hold down your mouse to the right to run while jumping over any obstacles—which include chairs, statues, and bookcases.

Poptropica Duck Tales 2

The second and third levels are exactly identical, besides the setting. The goal is to dodge all of the fish/aerial crafts to the end (you can keep track with the progress bar) without losing all of your lives (the smiley faces).

After successfully completing all three levels, you’ll win Webby, Dewey, Louie, and Huey followers as well as a Talisman Power card!

Poptropica Duck Tales 5

Well, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading, as always! Talk to you in the next one.

Store

Store stock simplified, with prices amplified

Hey Poptropicans! It’s Slanted Fish, splashing in to report that there’s been several changes to the store on Poptropica Original lately.

Last week, the Creators mentioned they’d be updating the shop every month, and three formerly member-exclusive items made a return: the Berry Scary Monkey follower, the Beachgoer costume, and the Sea Captain costume. And now… there’s more, but at the same time, there’s less. Take a look at the current shop stock:

As you can tell, there are more formerly retired items that have returned to the store, and at the same time, there are less items in the store than there have been before—many gold cards and costumes have been chucked out, and what you see is all that’s left.

On top of all that, prices have risen dramatically, with most items costing several hundred credits (but still free for members). Here’s all of what’s in the store right now:

Gold Cards

  • Earth Day shirt (75 credits)
  • Smiley Potion (375 credits)
  • Binary Rain, Game Show Island (375 credits)
  • Lucky Shamrock Flavor PopGum (375 credits)
  • Multiverse (0 credits)
  • Hammerhead Shark costume (350 credits)
  • Outlaw costume (350 credits)
  • Robot Dance, Game Show Island (375 credits)
  • Sea Captain costume (250 credits)
  • Beachgoer costume (250 credits)
  • Berry Scary Monkey follower (350 credits)
  • Dr. Hare costume (500 credits)
  • Spiked Bounce Ball costume, from Shrink Shot (250 credits)
  • Zombify! power, from Haunted House (375 credits)
  • (now members only) Mini Dr. Hare follower (400 credits)
  • (now members only) Fart Gun (375 credits)
  • (now members only) Cool Kid power (surrounds you with stars), from Cool Kid plush toy (375 credits)
  • (now members only) Shrink Ray (375 credits)
  • (now members only) Mini Hamburger follower, from Pocketeer toy (350 credits)

Costumes

  • Candy Bar (250 credits)
  • (now members only) Fairy Queen (girls only)(350 credits)
  • Gamer Dude/Girl (250 credits)
  • (now members only) Ice Cream (250 credits)
  • (now members only) Large Fry (250 credits)
  • Leprechaun (350 credits)
  • Mythology Surfer (350 credits)
  • Prom King/Queen (350 credits)
  • (now members only) Rock Star 2 (350 credits)
  • (now members only) Soda Pop (250 credits)

So… this is pretty different. On one hand, it’s cool to see a lot of exclusive items returning to the store, particularly for those who hadn’t had the chance to grab them before. On the other hand, this update has cleaned out a lot of other items from the store, limiting our options. My guess is that the Creators wanted to simplify the selection, considering how long the list of items in both categories were before, but it’s sad to see old favorites go.

Then there’s the fact that a number of items that were formerly available to everyone have been made members only. If you had these items before and are not a member, don’t worry—you can still use them. However, this membership barrier feels a little Poptropica Worlds, which is something I’ve written on before. Anyway, all items are free for members on Pop Original—so it’s odd that these items are given prices in the non-member’s store view.

That brings us to the price hikes. In the past, gold card items have tended to be around 250–350 credits, and now we’re seeing plenty that are 375 or higher. Costumes used to be around 75 credits each, though there have been some cases where they were higher. Now, they’re more in the 250–350 range. This does make some sense with the Daily Spin Wheel that was introduced two years ago, which makes it easier to rack up credits than in years past. Still, it’s quite an adjustment.

What are your thoughts on all the new changes to the Poptropica Original store? What items would you still like to see? Leave a comment for the Creators and for us!

Keep on popping, Poptropicans.
