Creators' Blog Guest Posts, Fan Art Features, S.O.S. Island

Call me Instagram—I mean, Ishmael 🐳

Hey Poptropicans! In this post, we’ve got Instagram highlights of fan art and more, plus a guest writer looking into a Poptropica character with history. Let’s pop in!

First up, on Instagram this week, the Pop Creators shared an IGTV video showing off the brand new Baron’s airship. And as usual, it’s followed by lots of fantastic fan art, including costume contest entries, OCs, and even the PHB’s 2021 Poppies, where nominations are currently open! 🏆

Also on Instagram, the Creators shared a new graphic to celebrate the 4th of July, aka US Independence Day last weekend. It’s a little ironic that Dr. Hare, Poptropica’s resident carrot slave owner, is out here proclaiming freedom. But hey, villains do love a good fireworks show! 🎆

In other news, the Creators’ Blog recently shared a guest post from a new guest writer, Happy Starfish, who gave a deep dive into an old Poptropica character that’s been making a few comebacks: Ishmael, the boy in blue winter clothes.

You may remember the guy from Fairytale Island when you were carrying Cinderella to the ball, or sometimes spot him in ad spaces promoting the Arcade. But if you’re a real Pop veteran, you may recognize him as the whale lover you saved on the now-gone SOS Island.

Although the post doesn’t mention the kid’s name, it does have significance: Ishmael is a nod to the first-person narrator in the classic 1851 novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville, on which the story of SOS Island draws inspiration. Anyway, you can read more about this beloved blue character on the Creators’ Blog!

Call me, Ishmael.

That wraps up this post! Hope you enjoyed the fan art and archival look into the iconic Ishmael, and be sure to catch up below on all things Red Baron. Stay cool, Poptropicans!

Poptropica comics return, Stubb from SOS, & PopStorm mouths

Hey everyone! Slippery here with a few updates.

After a two-week hiatus, Poptropica comics have finally returned from its slumber with 9 new strips for week 27, which you can catch up on by visiting the Creators’ Blog or by reading them here (click to view in full size)! Prepare for creepy hotels, raging rivers, and freaky Veggiestein…

Next off, the Creators tweeted a sketch made by a Poptropica illustrator of a story for Stubb, a character from SOS Island. You might recognize her from the time you went into the ship’s boiler. The Creators noted that she believes that “hard work fixes anything”. Check it out:

Last but not the least, the Creators tweeted their 5th PopStorm image, entitled “Menacing Mouths”, featuring… many weird mouths. Check ’em out!

Bonus Items, Membership, S.O.S. Island

Disastrous, Wild & Free

Ahoy, sailors! Members, remember the brilliant Sea Captain costume you received? We’re reluctant to announce that’s coming to an end only one week – Thursday, February 16th. Though, anyone who gets Membership after next Thursday will still be able to get Sonar Power and Fishing Pole, but the Sea Captain costume is only available during the Early Access period.

Yep, non-members, I said it. Only available during the Early Access period. Therefore I am proud to announce that S.O.S. Island is going to be available and free for everyone Thursday, February 16th! Great belated present for Valentine’s Day, huh?

Thanks for reading and may many natural disasters be in your future – on Poptropica. Not literally, that’d be mean.

Advertisements, Bonus Items, Membership, S.O.S. Island, Store

Happy fishing

Remember the SOS Island Members-only gear pack in the Poptropica Store that comes with awesome stuff like the sonar power?

Our favorite sea captain, Crawfish himself, wants to let you know that you can find the gear in your “Store Items” inventory… at the end of the line. He signs off with “happy fishing!”

Thanks CC, we’ll be sure to go fishing for crawfish! Mmmm.

In other news, Loud Shark has created a video tutorial for a new ad game in Poptropica called “Monster High Sweet 1600”! Check it out:

The prizes are Draculaura’s dress and a Count Fabulous follower.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! 😀

S.O.S. Island

Diving Suit Fashion

Bonjour, readers! Less than a week after it’s membership release, PHB posted a tip for S.O.S. Island that could really motivate you for playing it over again – if you’ve completed it, of course! Captain Crawfish, my nemesis, has updated us on another use for the Diving Suit.

But did you know that if you replay S.O.S. Island while wearing the suit, you can stay underwater for much more time? Just open your Island map and hit the “Restart Island” button. Easy peasy!

You read right, Poptropicans! You could stay underwater for much more time with the versatile suit if you replay the island. That’s a very special tip you should be glad the Creators shared – unless you already knew it, of course. And for free-playing Poptropicans, you should really jot down some notes and tips for yourself. Especially a juicy one like this!

Also, Happy Black History Month!

Good night, everybody!
