Hello! I'm Slanted Fish, the editor-in-chief and creator of the Poptropica Help Blog (PHB). I'm a writer, Hong Kong native, and Christ follower. My Poptropica username is slantedfish 🐠 Don't forget to be awesome!
Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got costume designs, throwbacks, tone-twisting tweets, and a fan comic. Let’s pop right in!
January’s costume contest reel has been released, though a winner has yet to be announced. In the meantime, enjoy all the creativity:
Which ones are you hoping to see in the game? Here are a couple of costumes with great color schemes that caught our eye:

The Pop Creators’ Blog recently shared a post from guest writer Golden Crown about the old tradition of Tribes from the Poptropolis Games. By the way, thanks Golden Crown for sharing the PHB’s Tribes page, where you can learn more about each tribe’s personality and even tour their epic common rooms! Which flag will you fly?

Over on Twitter, Poptropica shared a wholesome response to a wholesome meme, featuring a dino-dressed pet:
Last but not least, here’s a fan art feature from Pop’s Instagram story! If you’re a diehard Pop fan, perhaps you too can relate to the intense passion captured in this comic:
Another week, another restock at Adventure Outfitters. The hottest (or coolest?) new ‘fit this week is the Tough Tundra (250 credits) for members, which features a jean jacket layered with a hoodie. Also, pets get three new styles: a Polar Bear outfit and Snowboard Goggles for all, and grey Puffy Jacket for members, all at 75 credits each.
Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Silver Shell. Enjoy!
Hey Poptropicans! Recently, Purple Paw made a post about how to be Poptropica’s protagonist, which inspired me to write a Pop 5 post about being its antagonist — the enemy who actively opposes the hero.
You’re always saving Poptropica: doing good deeds, helping people, protecting the planet, et cetera. But what if you feel like doing something different for a change, being a villain just this once? If so, you’ll need traits that check off this list:
5: A Thirst for Revenge
Countless Poptropica villains had a sad background that fueled their anger and their need to take revenge. Take Ringmaster Raven. His village treated him terribly and later forced him out, and he chose to turn the entire village into monsters. If you’re a villain, you’re usually acting out because of anger and the need for revenge.
4: A Way With Technology
In plenty of islands, the villain messes around with technology to defeat you, like how Gretchen Grimlock pretended to be Harold Mews to get the location of Bigfoot, or how Director D used mini-robots to stop you from getting to his spaceship. Being a villain requires using technology a lot of the time, so learn to be tech-savvy!
3: A Unique Outfit
The protagonist of the island (you) usually wears whatever they want, wherever they want. But the villain should have a noticeable, awesome costume that makes them stand out from the crowd. Whether it’s pirate attire or a bunny costume, be sure to find a cool outfit to show you’re a villain.
2: An Awesome Villain Name
For some small, not-super-important villains, like Gretchen Grimlock, Dr. Silva, Ghost Story’s magistrate Henry Flatbottom and more, they use their own basic names. But the best of the best, like Binary Bard, Dr. Hare, the Black Widow, and Captain Crawfish, have a really cool villain alias that makes them iconic and infamous. Go for greatness.
1: Trickery
Tons and tons of villains have deceived you to get what they want. From Zeus stealing your sacred items to Binary Bard masquerading as the Princess of Arturus, it happens a lot. To be a successful antagonist, you must be willing to resort to trickery.
So, how many of these did you get? Have you got everything it takes to be a true villain? If you don’t think this is for you, you can always go back to being the good guy. Thanks for reading!

A word of warning for would-be Poptropica app users. Tune in for upcoming island releases, fan art, and more! Let’s pop right in.
This week, the Pop Creators have been pushing for players to update their Poptropica mobile app, which recently got a major overhaul so that it now matches the computer version. That’s all well and good for the addition of newer features and islands, but what they won’t tell you is that they also deleted a bunch of old islands off the app.
Pop app thenPop app now
The official blog included only a brief line about the cons of the changes: “Although the mobile app’s update included some unpopular changes, we can now focus on bringing you a new and improved experience!” That doesn’t sound too promising about whether we’ll see those old islands (and complete sets for episodes) return anytime soon — so before you update (if you do), just be sure you know what you’ll be missing.
However, the blog also brings some good news about other islands in the works. As hinted by recent store items, PoptropiCon Island, Ep. 2: Spoiler Alert will be returning later this month, for both desktop and mobile! (Catch the rereleased trailer, too.) Also, the final Dream Island winner, Secret of the Jade Scarab, is on its way for all players!
Here are this week’s fan art features from Poptropica’s Instagram stories, plus a Pop poll on “How do you play Poptropica?” According to voters, 84% prefer desktop while just 16% choose mobile. Hmm, so much for that mobile app upgrade/downgrade?
Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Silver Shell. Enjoy!
Now, I love Mocktropica Island because of how real it is. You don’t battle pirates or ninjas on this island, but you battle something just as challenging: Games breaking down. Chaos. Frustrating management that doesn’t listen to anyone. There’s a lot of frustration and confusion in the plot of this island. There are plenty of glitches, but the creators seem to only care about new things, like the dreadful Pop Coins.
Sounding familiar yet? Unfortunately, modern Pop has started to immensely resemble Mocktropica these days. There’s plenty of talk about that already, though, so let’s move on from that.
I think the island is really fun! You get to design Main Street from a little basement, change the weather and time of day, and, of course, it’s the home of the Narf. My favorite part of this island was trying to convince the former creators to get back to their jobs. All three of them had moved on and needed lots of persuasion before they would return. However, once you get the whole team back together, a lot is fixed! The player gets to actually fix the game itself! How cool is that?!
I’m the Mancala Master.
The twist? First-rate. The fact that management had been planning to destroy Poptropica all along to move Mega Fighting Bots up to the top of the list was, I have to say, quite genius. The clues were everywhere, but I never made the connection! I had assumed those people were just cheap and loony. In my opinion, that twist was the best one in Poptropica.
I kicked their bots.
I actually needed Thinknoodles’s walkthrough for the end part with the flying bots, but I had a lot of fun with it, especially considering the fact that you threw Pop Coins at them. Revenge on the Pop Coins. 😜
