My Dream Island

My Dream Island: Jedi Island (Mystery in Space) by Dangerous Dragon

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Dangerous Dragon. Enjoy!

What’s popping, Poptropicans? DD here, and it is a warm bright day in the Pop universe. Today Iā€™m going to show you my Dream Island! I did not enter this into Poptropica’s contest because I was a little inactive at that time, but hey, I’m bringing my creativity here. Let’s begin!

*clears throat*

First look

The story begins with a cutscene, where you are an astronaut in space. Suddenly, there is a blast, and your spaceship breaks. You are now floating in the open space, unconscious but alive.

Rocket Man: Try to keep from burning out your fuel up here alone.

You wake up in five or six hours, not remembering anything. Then a person dressed in black robes comes to you. You try to run, but your feet are swollen, so you can’t move. Just as the darkly dressed man reaches you, he assures you that he is a good man, and he is the captain of this Jedi spaceship you’re in. You can’t believe it! You are in a Jedi spaceship!

From there, the screen goes black. Next thing you know, they have treated your legs so that you can walk around! Then the action begins… walking around, you find the captain in his room, and he looks a bit concerned. Turns out the whole crew’s lightsabers are running out of power, and they’re not sure how long they can keep their operation afloat.

Being the smart, adventurous Poptropican you are, you volunteer to help. So you search everywhere, gathering clues to help the Jedi find fuel and crystals for their operation…Ā

Locations

These are just a few of the places you’ll be visiting.

  • Launch site – This is where youā€™ll find many spaceships.
  • The cockpit – This is where the captain stays.
  • Planet Naboo – The place where youā€™ll find the crystals.
Hyperspeed: We’re going to infinity. But not beyond. That’s impossible.

Clues

As you help characters throughout the island, you’ll gain some helpful items and insights.

  • Keycard – you will get it by helping RW-22. This will help you open the room and look in the spaceship.
  • Repair kit for the spaceship – in the mechanic’s room. You’ll need it to repair the spaceship when it starts to break down!
  • A bone – for Princess Kopi (hello, Thinknoodles fans!), a dog you’ll meet on Fairy Tale Island (yes, the one currently in production… and yes, you’ll be traveling to different Pop islands!)
  • Dog tail – You can wear this, and when you tap the spacebar, the tail shakes and dances! You’ll need this to befriend a dog…
Photo Finish: Snapshots of happier times.

Characters

  • Captain Cyrus – The Jedi captain. Youā€™ll be meeting with him throughout this island.
  • Ringmaster Raven (thatā€™s right, our boy from Monster Carnival!): Heā€™s good now. Heā€™ll give you the crew’s lightsabers to fill them up with the crystals.
  • RW-22 – A droid who’ll give you a lesson on how to fly a spaceship and a keycard to open up a spaceship. Heā€™ll only help you if you help him clean the captainā€™s spaceship in the launch site. There are loads of ships there, so you’ll have to explore them all to find the right one.
  • Co-captain Salerno – Yes, from Lunar Colony! Sheā€™ll be on the spaceship too (God knows how) and sheā€™ll help you locate a planet you’ll need to find to save the ship.

Inspiration

To be honest,Ā I donā€™t know anything about Star Wars, but I took some inspiration from a book called Star Wars Jedi Academy by Jeffrey Brown. It’s fun to read! I also liked Lunar Colony Island on Poptropica, which also inspired this island idea.

Wow, I enjoyed making this! I hope you liked my island, and feel free to share your feedback for what I can add! If you are interested in sharing your idea, you can comment below or create a guest post if you want to get detailed.

This is DD popping out. Keep on popping, Poptropicans! Pop on!

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you theĀ JanuaryĀ recapĀ for Community Creations!Ā January’s themeĀ wasĀ crossoversĀ and the featured work is not in any particular order. Be sure to check out all the featured artists!

No clue whatā€™s going on?Ā Go see our intro post.

Top 5 Picks

Gem CostumesĀ byĀ LilPoptrystalTemp

LilPoptrystalTemp - Gem Costumes

Super creative! A continuation of our other Steven Universe costumes, these outfits totally match their cartoon counterparts. Accurately portraying someone in Poptropica can be a difficult task, but these designs get pretty darn close to their characters. From left to right, we have Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Jasper, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, Aquamarine, Topaz, Sardonyx, Opal, and Sugilite. And each account comes with a username.Ā Plus, I love the attention to detail in each Poptropican name. They perfectly suit the personality of each character while staying true to classic Poptropica names! Great work, I can tell this took effort! Find her DeviantArt here.

Spy Wars by Cuddly Knuckle

Cuddly Knuckle - Spy Wars

Given the somewhat recent movie release, a Star Wars crossover is very appropriate! The mashup works super well with Spy Island too. I think we could find lots of similarities between B.A.D. and the Dark Side, right? I wonder if B.A.D. has cookies… Anyway, this is a cool action pose and there’s definitely strong attention towards lighting. Nice!Ā Find his DeviantArt here.

TwilightĀ Sparkle by HfEvra

HfEvra - Twilight Sparkle

Great editing! Any of our viewers My Little Pony fans? Even if you’re not, I think we can all agree this is an accurate representation of Twilight Sparkle in Poptropica. Even more so, the designs are all in a Poptropica Worlds art style! Hooves Fingers and all! They totally look like actual, in-game costumes. I love that a suitable background was included, as well as a variety of outfits!Ā Find her DeviantArt here.

Gingerbright by Purple Seagull

Purple Seagul - Gingerbright (Cookie Run)

Not as much detail, but still super cool! For you Cookie Run fans out there, have you ever wondered what GingerBright would look like in Poptropica? Well, wonder no more! This cute little character would fit in perfectly with some of Poptropica’s more lighthearted adventures, and definitely looks like both GingerBright and a Poptropican, cookie crumbs and all!Ā  There’s even a bit of shading to help her pop. She’s so cute I could almost eat her up! Find the artist often in the comment section.

Train to Zomberry Island by ANNE14TCO

ANNE14TCO - Train to Zomberry Island

Now here’s a change in mood! On the more intense end of the spectrum is Train to Busan, a Korean zombie film. This pick is an interesting contrast to the world of Poptropica, which just goes to show you how diverse our community is. Still, the comparison to Zomberry Island is perfect of course. The lighting and emotion in this piece is fantastic! It puts me on the edge of my seat for a thriller. Plus, the movie poster format is quite creative, fitting both sides of the crossover (with a little reference to Back Lot Island). Amazing work!Ā Find her DeviantArt here.

February: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what itā€™s about, itā€™s basically a chance toĀ show off your artwork, creepy fan-fic, realms, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really likeĀ the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that monthā€™s theme. So what is February’s theme?Ā February’sĀ theme isā€¦

Colorful!

Valentine’s Day is coming up and that means it’s been one full year of Community Creations! Last year we kicked things off with “shipping” and the rest is history. Anyway, February is a time of love and friendship, so why not express that through our creations? While colorful can literally mean using a bunch of vibrant colors, it can also just refer to a creative, positive mood.

So with that in mind, there is a bunch you could make! Use bright, bold colors in some cheesy Poptropica Valentine’s Day cards. Dress up your Poptropican in a crazy, vibrant costume. Draw your Poptropican and a bunch of your friends hanging out and just having fun. Write a positive, poppy love story. The list goes on!

Also, we seem to have found Binary Bard’s Poptropica account! (Thanks to many of you who helped to point this out.) Using Motionman95‘s Poptropica Image Generator, we’ve found that Binary Bard (a Poptropica Creator who posts on the PCB) has his own personal account on Poptropica (which he probably used to spread the mechanical flu), and his login username is “binarybard”!

http://www.coderkid.co.cc/PoptropicaPHP.php?login=BinaryBard

You can tell that this account belongs to a Creator because of the Poptropican name – “Binary Bard”. This would not be possible for a regular player. Other notes for this account: it’s wearing the Binary Bard’s jester clothing from Astro-Knights Island,Ā along with the half-metal face, red cyborg eye, and huge grin. He’s also holding the nunchuk handheld item, which can be found on the ninja costume (purchasable at the Poptropica Store).

To spice things up a little, the Poptropica Creators will soon be adding balloons to the Poptropica Store, which you’ll be able to create! Thanks for the news report, Agdogr1997 (Super Grape). Take a look at the video below for a cool idea of what they’re like:

As you can see, there will be several options for these balloons, including a pink heart, yellow smiley face, and a red-and-black ladybug! Also, Deathstalker found something very interesting:

http://static.poptropica.com/items/item3041.swf

These cute floating shapes are going to be called “Emotaloons”! (Probably from the words emote and balloon) There will be a “Create” button on its item card so that you can edit your Emotaloon. The description for this item is, “Express yourself with your own Emotaloon!” You can also see that they will be a Poptropica Store item because of the starry background on the item card.

Planning on taking a little holiday soon? Tours at Time Tangled Island seem to be all the rage these days! VladtheViking has generously provided all of us with an absolutely awesome video showing a trailer of this twisted island, complete with twinkling music! (Thanks, Obiwan2324) Check it out:

Astro-Knights Island seems quite popular too, according to the current poll at the Poptropica Creators’ Blog. Here are the approximate results (may vary later because the poll isn’t over yet):

Option |Ā Number of Votes | Percentage
Early Poptropica | 83 | 1%
Shark Tooth | 87 | 1%
Time Tangled | 170 | 3%
24 Carrot | 96 | 1%
Super Power | 264 | 5%
Spy | 467 | 9%
Nabooti | 125 | 2%
Astro-Knights | 3483 | 70%
