Snickerdoodle!

*spotlight goes on the top of the stairs*

Wait, what? No, I’m down here, you overshot a bit!

*spotlight moves down*

Much better. So, as you can obviously see, or maybe not see, because of the spotlight, I’m the newest author of the PHB! Sure, you’re probably thinking, “Who in Early Poptropica’s clothesline is that?” Well, to be honest, I’m not really sure who I am, either. It all changes, every day. Usually, I’m a thirteen year old (though not for much longer!) girl, with the mind of a five year old. I have tried to defy gravity, and ended up with that. *points at bruised ankle*

I have a terrible sense of what is dangerous and what is not; cliff diving sounds appealing to me, and it is my dream to go skydiving. So far, no luck. I’ve only ever gone bungee jumping. I also have unhealthy obsessions. My current obsessions include Phantom of the Opera, and its sequel, Love Never Dies. Okay, so a lot of people think “What’s so appealing about that?” That’s what I thought the first time I saw it, but after… Ahhh… *in love*

I go by many names, including Christine, xMegxGiryx, Nessa, ST2, Super Thunder, and Wicked Witch of the East. No one ever seems to call me by my real name. Which is fine with me, I don’t like it anyway.

My attention span is tiny. I have no patience for what x is equal to and I never will. I also don’t… Oooh, look, a butterfly!

*returns ten minutes later, with  a butterfly*

Snapshot Series, Web Development

Reality is a lovely place… but Poptropica is a better one.

Following into the travels of Dr. Hare, last week we saw him posed in front of yet another ferris wheel. As our blog readers correctly predicted, he was touring London, England, with landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben behind him! And now, here’s another shot at the same location, but with a different angle, so you get a glimpse of St. Paul’s Cathedral as well.

It’s cool how Poptropica is showing how they can extend to be bigger than just something on your computer screen – the things you can learn from Poptropica are part of the real world too! And, you can apply real world things to Poptropica…

That’s Hermione, Harry Potter, and Ron in Poptropica form! As you may know, the PHB has its own Costumes page, a collection of images of creative costumes you can put on. Someone recently submitted this great picture, and if you’re interested in more, click here.

Also, two Poptropica Creators’ names were recently discovered and added to our database. They are Nate Tufts, Illustrator/Designer working for Poptropica (see his blog) and Nasan Hardcastle, creates and designs artwork for Poptropica.com (see his blog).

On a final note, as I mentioned before, I may have less time to blog here since high school has started, so although you may see less frequent posts from me, I hope the rest of the authors will continue to bring you guys the news in a timely and awesome fashion. I will still be around to work behind the scenes to ensure the blog is updated well. 🙂

Snapshot Series

I wanna be a star too :D

The creators have started a whole new series on the PCB. Remember snapshot sagas? It’s almost just like that except that they don’t just go to random players. They actually look at your record and select top players from Poptropica. Players familiar with snapshot sagas will probably be drawn into this as well.

The new series is called Poptropica Superstars! They select top players that are totally into the game, and then mention them into a new post. Todays superstar is…*drumroll*….Grumpy Icicle!

Poptropica Superstars: Grumpy Icicle

Millions and millions of kids love Poptropica, and we love you all right back. That’s why, all this week, we’re going to showcase some of our most dedicated players right here in the creators’ blog. Say hello to the first Poptropica Superstar, Grumpy Icicle!

Grumpy Icicle has beaten 18 of the 20 Poptropica Islands, including the toughest one, Astro-Knights. He was number 1 on our list of the first 10 Poptropicans to finish Cryptids Island, and he just missed appearing on the list of the first 10 to finish Shrink Ray Island. Grumpy Icicle was number 11.

Whoah. Top finisher on one island is pretty amazing. Top finisher on two islands? You’d have to be pretty big of a fan to do that. These people work fast :D. He’s completed 18 out of 20 of the series of islands. Job well done, Grumpy Icicle. You’re a true star!

Well, 6 more days until I get back to good old US. EP out!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that we’re honored to say that Grumpy Icicle is one of our many PHB readers, and he has commented on this blog a couple times. His username is Xalevoid, and you can look him up on the Avatar Studio for proof. If you’re reading this, G.I., the PHB says congratulations! 😀 ~Hijuyo

The Official Guide to Poptropica!

It’s EP here for a new post. How’s everyone doing? Cruising? Enjoying the summer? That’s nice! I’m almost too lazy today to get out of my video game lounge playing meh xbox to type up a new post :P. But here it goes, the creators have announced the official guide to Poptropica.

Merchandising for the game was hinted some time ago, around a year, in a post on this blog about future products like backpacks and books. I don’t remember who posted it or how they got to it, but I remember the clue was inside a post about a news article on the web interviewing someone that worked on Poptropica. Well, now it’s finally here! Check it out:

Announcing the Poptropica guidebook!

It’s true: Poptropica: The Official Guideis coming! This full-color guidebook contains walkthroughs for most Poptropica Islands, behind-the-scenes looks at how an Island is made, and quotes from the Poptropica Creators. Poptropica: The Official Guide will be released on October 13. For a special sneak preview, visit the Poptropica guidebook page on Amazon.com for a special preview: an interview with Jeff Kinney, Poptropica creator and Diary of a Wimpy Kid author!

October 13th??? Whatttttt? Are they not done editing it or publishing it or something? We’ll have to wait months before we can get an actual copy of this book. I can’t wait to find out what’s inside. I don’t know if they’d include island guides, but maybe only tips and info on the islands. A guide might spoil the fun and surprise perhaps.

On the cover of the book is a Poptropican swinging on a rope…don’t fall. I just felt like saying that ;). The cover also shows various Poptropica characters and a location situated on Mythology Island. You can get read an exclusive interview with Jeff Kinney on the amazon webpage. Cannot wait to obtain my own copy of this book now :). What do you think? Will you buy it? Comment below.

Shrink Ray Island

You don’t want to misplay the Shrink Ray!

I know, I know, Red Dragon Island was only just released to the public a day before this major announcement. But to cut the suspense short, here it is, the name of the next big (or was it shrunk to small?) island…

Shrink Ray Island!

If you try visiting its island page, you may have noticed that it has changed in format! Whereas there used to just be a graphic, there are now links to other island pages, merchandise, and membership. You know what else this means? Early Poptropica Island finally has its own description! My how Poptropica’s growing up. :,D

You can also find some sneak peek images above the island description, which by the way, reads this:

A young genius has invented a ray gun that shrinks anything it touches – including you! But when the scientist and her invention go missing, you’ll have to keep the shrink ray from falling into the wrong hands, and find a way to bring yourself back to normal size. To solve a problem this big, you’ve got to think small!

Sounds interesting! What do you think of Shrink Ray Island so far? 🙂
