Daily Pop, Daily Pop Sneak Peeks

Daily Pop Peeks: camels and canines and bears, oh my!

Hey Poptropicans! The month of April brought along some noteworthy sneak peeks over on the Daily Pop, some of which we’ll take a look at here. For the complete collection of pictures and captions, check out our sneak peek archive page, updated monthly!

First up, we’ve been seeing a few more peeks for the upcoming Mystery of the Map Island. (For even more, check out some of last month’s peeks, and of course the archive itself as well.)

Meanwhile, development for Arabian Nights: Ep. 3 is still in motion, and a look at the official Tour page now reveals the title (“Careful What You Wish For”) and description for the final episode:

The genie is out of the bottle, and now everyone wants a chance to make their wishes come true. But whether you’re a greedy merchant, a lovelorn palace guard, or a Sultan with a long-buried secret, heed this advice: be careful what you wish for!

Hmm… and what’s up with that overly-friendly camel?

And finally, here are some other miscellaneous sneak peeks from the past month. Could all these animals be linked to something? We do know the K9 dogs were just some test ideas the Creators sketched out (more on that in SD’s post below), and perhaps the description of the home picture is alluding to the previously-confirmed Timmy Failure Island.

Anyway, let us know in the comments what you think of these sneak peeks, and be sure to check out all the rest over on our DP archive page. Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😀

Release dates, mysterious islands, and BTS images

Hey guys! Lots of stuff on Twitter, as usual. I asked the Creators about release dates for islands, and they weren’t too specific, but we now have a general idea of when new islands are coming out! Knowing the Poptropica Creators though, the dates below could change.

At least it’s something, right? 😛 Just to recap: Mystery of the Map Island is planned for May for members, and June for everyone. Arabian Nights Ep. 3 comes out around July.

Now, the islands in the tweets above aren’t the only ones in our future. The Creators want your opinion on some mysterious new designs for a mysterious new island. Remember, nothing is official yet, so the island might not even come out!

Seems like their idea somehow relates to jail, judging by the police officers, inmates, and canines (“K9”, heh) above. Hopefully we will have more info on the island soon!

Moving on to different islands, we also have two other behind the scenes images from Twitter.

The first image shows a, uh, man-baby of sorts… *cough* and the other shows on old fort on a tropical island. These pictures are most likely for Arabian Nights Island and Mystery of the Map Island respectively. Post any ideas you have about how the man-baby relates to the island below! 🙂

Last, but not least, we have PopStorms 24 & 25! #24 is basically the creativity of a Poptropica Creator, and #25 was posted with the caption: “This character has Poptropica eyes and loves ding dongs.” 😛

That’s all for now!

Office supplies: books, concept art, & toys – check!

Okay, let’s go over my check list… behind the scenes books? Check! Concept art? Check! An office filled with toys? Triple check!

Now, at this point, you may be super confused, but that’s perfectly fine because it will all soon be clear!

*cough* Aaaaannnyway… you may have noticed how the Creators have taken a bit of a break from posting behind the scenes awesomeness on Twitter. But just recently, the Creators have returned with some more great concept art! The first piece of behind the scenes awesomeness is some early concept art for Galactic Hot Dogs Island.

The second image we have shows a bookshelf, most likely for Arabian Nights Island.

A lot of these books seem like they would come in handy! These BTS pictures are also found on Poptropica as Daily Pops.

Last, but not least, we get a glimpse at life in a Poptropica Creator’s office.

So. Many. Collectibles. Creators, if you’re reading this, I wouldn’t mind taking a few toys off your hands. 😉 Looking around, we can see t-shirts of Poptropica’s greatest super villains, a cylindrical object beside it (a Poptropica pencil case? Hard to tell!) and a Mystery of the Map poster drawn in the style of the Poptropica book covers.

Well, that’s it for now guys! Anything on the checklist that I missed? Don’t worry, check back into the PHB soon for more updates! 🙂

App, PHB Sneak Peeks

Arcade you not, big things are coming to the app!

Update: The Arcade (and more) is officially coming this Thursday!

appupdate

Bad puns aside, Poptropicans, something big is indeed coming to the Poptropica app, and it isn’t just the mobile version of Shrink Ray Island that Captain Crawfish mentioned. The Creators’ Blog will be announcing “a few huge new features” in the coming days, but thanks to a peek in the files from HPuterpop, we have seen one thing coming… a Multiplayer Arcade!

Check out those retro-style old-school arcade machines for the multiplayer games that have been around for years – Sky Dive, Star Link, and more. (Will we get to play them single-player?) Admire that high ceiling. Maybe even jump into one of those ball pits!

As you may have seen from the last screenshot, the Multiplayer Arcade will be to the right of the “Home” Island on the mobile app (the landing space that currently only exists on the app, not online). This marks the first update for multiplayer functionality for the app, and if Captain Crawfish is to be believed, this feature may be rolling out as early as this week!

By the way, hope you’re enjoying the new site header, featuring all eight of the current PHB staff! Plus, don’t forget to send something in for The POPCORN magazine. Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😀

Magazines

Buttered POPCORN: the next magazine series!

In case any of you saw on Twitter, a little while ago we launched the hashtag #askphn for people to ask questions to the Poptropica Help Network (which includes, among other sites, the PHB and Poptropica Wiki). Well, there is some reasoning behind it. Some of you readers may remember The POPCORN, the PHB fan magazine. Well, with the help of HPuterpop, we’re bringing it back!

Popcorn

That’s right. The POPCORN is back and it’s going to be better than ever! Andrew (HPuterpop) and I are planning some great new stuff, including more graphics to make it more like a magazine. We’re also planning for it to be downloadable, for those who want to read on the go. Also a printable version, for you people who like reading printed magazines. I hope you all enjoy the Popcorn logo above (thanks to Andrew), but we need you’re help to make it special for each issue.

Every new issue of POPCORN magazine will contain the POPCORN logo on the cover, and you guys will get to participate in it in a special way. You can see that the first “o” is popcorn, but the other “o” (unlike previous logos) is just normal. This is because it will be replaced in each new issue with your art! You guys can send in an item specifically for the logo (we would much prefer it to have a transparent background so that it will work well on the cover) and we’ll pick something to put there for each different issue. (Update: We probably won’t go with this as the art would be quite small – but you are welcome to send in stuff for cover art!)

To make the magazine possible, however, we need user to send us stuff (questions for the PHB & Poptropica Wiki, fan art, stories, fashion, etc.) through one of the following ways:

  • Email our official Popcorn magazine email: [email protected]
  • Send us stuff on Twitter using the hashtag #phnpopcorn
  • Put them in the comments of this post

When you send us entries, be sure to tell us how you’d like to be credited. (real name, username, Poptropica nickname, etc.) As usual, the types of entries we’re looking for include art, stories, costume ideas, island ideas, questions, and so on – but feel free to come up with anything you consider creative fan work!

We have no official release date concerning the next series of The POPCORN, mostly because we’re not sure how long it will take with the graphics and such, but we’ll be sure to update you when we get more details worked out. I’m really excited to see how this goes and I hope you guys are too! More on POPCORN will come soon, but I figured now was the best time if any to announce this!
