Wheel, what do we have here?

Hey Poptropicans,

Wheel wheel, what do you know, Poptropica has stepped up its game, and we actually got three Daily Pop sneak peeks this month! Thanks, Creators! Now, to analyze: what do we have here?

What we see is a wheel of fortune for us to spin for prizes, a street beggar whose feet are better clothed than the average Poptropican, and the attic of a barn. Well, subject matter so far is more impressive than the month of May’s rat animation. But what to make of it all?

Could the barn be for a new island, either for Classic or New Poptropica? As for the beggar, his legs and footwear indicate that it’s part of the art style for the New Poptropica – among the few things we know about it, legs have a little more substance and shoes are a thing.

Mean-wheel (no? okay), the wheel looks like it might fit in as a new prop for Home Island, as a daily incentive to log in and spin for prizes. I think that would be a great addition to the game!

It looks even cooler in light of this exclusive sneak peek from Pop glitcher idk, showing a behind-the-scenes test of the wheel of fortune. Please note: Test scenes do not always reflect what Poptropica will add in the game. With that being said, this still gives us an insight into things they’re considering!

Here we see a more primitive design of the wheel, and above it is a bit of text that pre-determines the prize you’ll get. After the wheel is done spinning, it gives you your prize. A list of possible prizes and the chances of receiving them are on the right (obviously, this will not be shown in the final version). I’ve also listed them below this picture, and I have to say, it looks wheely good.

Possible prizes and their chances (remember that this is not final, as this has not been released):

  • A low amount of credits (15, 20, or 25) (20% chance)
  • Costume (costume 1, 2, or 3) (10% chance)
  • A medium amount of credits (50, 60, or 75) (25% chance)
  • Rare Follower (rare follower 1, 2, or 3) (2% chance)
  • A high amount of credits (100, 125, or 150) (20% chance)
  • Rare Costume (rare costume 1, 2, or 3) (3% chance)
  • Credits Jackpot (200, 250, 300) (15% chance)
  • Follower (follower 1, 2, or 3) (5% chance)

Sounds pretty promising to me! Now, I don’t know what we’ll need so many credits for (especially for those who are members), but who knows, Poptropica might add more reasons to want credits in the future. Also, the costumes and followers sound like great prizes – especially “rare” ones for people to collect! Maybe they could even rotate the prizes so you could win different ones in different seasons of time. Wheel have to see (sorry not sorry).

On a different note, here’s another test scene sneak peek from idk – in this tree-lined space, you can move around only on the platform you start on, and if you press the magnet in the left corner, you can get the magnetic black ball to stick to you as you move. The magnet icon was seen previously in a Crisis Caverns Daily Pop, but they could also just have recycled it for something else. I wonder what it’s for?

Any-wheel, that’s all for this post. Share what you think in the comments below!

PHB Sneak Peeks: Zombie Defense Mini-Game

Whale hello there everyone! 🐳 Spotted Dragon here with a cool behind the scenes post.

Before we get started, happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! Poptropica released this cool picture of a Poptropican-ized Kylo Ren on their Twitter today. Now the real question is, how do we get that awesome lightsaber? 🌟⚔

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Remember the PHB’s post with the sneak peeks of Zomberry mini-games, Zombie Catapult and Game Jam? The Daily Pop also hinted at these games, as you may recall:

Well, there’s another one we haven’t mentioned yet: Zombie Defense! Credit goes to idk for the info.

zombie defense

Yes, it looks like these sneak peeks are becoming a reality because what we have here is a mini-game in the making!

The zombies you see come out of the door on the bottom right and make their way up to the top left. Towards the left of the image, we can see 5 buttons for setting various booby traps. Presumably, we set traps for the zombies to stop them from reaching the end, or we just try to survive without letting them touch us.

The bar at the top shows the level and wave you’re on, along with how much health you have left. It also shows your prep time before the wave starts.

That basically wraps up what we have so far, so hopefully we can expect a Zombie Defense mini-game soon! Maybe it’ll appear in the new Poptropica? Let us know what you think! 😀

Wrenching with Zombies, Bears, and more!

Hey Poptropicans! 😀

It’s been an unusually busy week in Poptropica, particularly with the release of the new tutorial, Monkey Wrench Island! If you need a helping hand, or just want to see what it’s about, check out our new Monkey Wrench Island Guide, complete with pictures. 🙊🔧

Did you know? If you previously won the Home/Hub Island medallion from doing the old tutorial, it stays in your medallion collection but can no longer be won, making it a rare extra medallion that adds to your total medallion count! (There is only one other like that: 24 Carrot BETA Carrotene.) Playing the new tutorial gives you the new Monkey Wrench Island Medallion.

Over on the Daily Pop, we’re seeing some pretty interesting sneak peeks! Several of them feature some puzzle/arcade (?) games or environments featuring meandering zombies and a cap-wearing character. There’s also a pic of a jukebox (perhaps a feature for the Skydock/Home Island update?), and an animation-in-progress that contains the building from PoptropiCon.

What are your theories on these sneak peeks? 😛

There’s currently an ad for We Bare Bears on Home Island, and watching the video will award you a Bear Stack that you can wear on your head! That is, if you can bear it. 😉

That’s not all! On Mystery of the Map Island, there’s an ad for Capri Sun Organic, which awards two prizes: Rocket Skateboard (an animation with you riding said skateboard) and Ball Storm Power (animation of balls falling)! Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the tip and picture.

Are you going to be in Massachusetts on Thursday, March 10th? Jeff Kinney’s bookstore (An Unlikely Story – 111 South Street Plainville, MA 02762) will be hosting Kory Merritt (illustrator of Mystery of the Map, Poptropica’s graphic novel releasing March 1st) that day from 4:00pm to 5:30pm EST! If you plan to go (and if you are in the area, it would be awesome if you did), it’s free but you should probably register. Kory will talk and sign book copies, and Jeff Kinney will be there too!

If any of you PHB readers out there are lucky enough to get to go, say hi to the Poptropica Creators from the PHB for us! (Plus we would love to hear any details of your experience! Pictures are a plus.)

Don’t forget: This week only, you can win twice the amount of credits for finishing four science-themed islands (Steamworks, Lunar Colony, Shrink RayVirus Hunter) for the first time in honor of Engineers Week! Offer ends Saturday, February 27th. Get ’em while you can!

Lastly, check out this picture Poptropica posted on social media! You can find all sorts of fun images and more by following Poptropica’s social media, or at least glancing over at our Twitter timeline to the side of the PHB from time to time. 🙂

Which Poptropica emoji would you rate this post? 😀

Pop Pals, Stolen Snapshots, and History Happenings

Hey Poptropicans! What’s popping?

February is here, and that means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! (As well as spring, if a certain psychic groundhog is to be believed.) Recent Daily Pop sneak peeks indicate that we may soon be getting a Valentine’s Photo Booth with some cool props:

Here on the PHB, we’ve added yet another new page under our Cool Stuff tab: Stolen Snapshots, a puzzle game originally from Slippery Raptor’s Blog! This game tests your Poptropica recognition skills with currently over 25 pictures to guess from, and Slip’s site is always coming up with new ones (plus you can guess his current puzzle for a chance to be in his Hall of Fame!). Check it out!

In case you missed it, another recent “Cool Stuff” release was a page titled Overview of Poptropica Glitching, where we explore the strangely wonderful world of exploiting Poptropica glitches.

We also recently released (most of) the results from our 2016 PHB Readers’ Survey, with tons of interactive graphs and charts and analyses for each question! Part 2, featuring comments from the response questions, is on its way – so stay tuned.

Plus, our dear Creator-senpais have even commented on the post! With the exception of Jeff Heim’s comment during the PHB Poppies last summer, that’s a first! We’re very honored and hope they continue to do so. 😀 All the more reason for PHB lurkers to join the fun in the comments, eh? 😉

Speaking of making PHB history, the History of the PHB page (under the “About” tab) has now been updated to give a summary on the past year of 2015. Check it out!

It’s also been really cool having you guys share your Poptropica projects and more over on our Poptropica Help subreddit, and if you’re not already on it, we would love to have you join the fun! I’ve even got an Ask Me Anything (AMA) thread going on, so if you have any off-topica questions for me at all, that’s a place to get to know me. 😀 Don’t miss out – sign up and post on our subreddit today!

Stay popping, Poptropicans!

Jungle mysteries, monkeys, elves, and more!

Hey Poptropicans!

Poptropica’s been a bit quiet lately, and even the Daily Pop has less sneak peeks this month than usual. Still, there are some pretty interesting pics hinting at what’s to come:

That’s quite a bit to take in! Are the monkeys and jungle scenes related, and if so, might they be part of the new tutorial island the Creators are working on? At least we think the hot air balloon is.

Also, looks like a Photo Booth is coming to Mystery of the Map (MotM) Island – presumably with the release of the print version of the graphic novel, expected this March! And what’s with the MotM fort with dodos? Plus, why does the left character in “Terra Firma” look suspiciously similar to an original character design by Poptropica player Bony Hopper?? The mysteries are many.

Check out the PHB’s Daily Pop Sneak Peek Archive for more sneak peeks!

Earlier this week, the Creators also tweeted out these planning sketches from the Twisted Thicket Island files. Check out all those fancy curls and leafy bits. Which elf design is your favorite?

On a different note, we have a new page on the PHB under the Cool Stuff tab: Overview of Poptropica Glitching! Whether you consider yourself an experienced glitcher or have no idea what that means, this article will give you an overview of what exactly goes on in the underground world of Poptropica glitching for awesome account alterations. Check it out!

Curious about PHB authors Giant Hawk and Ultimate iPad Expert? Check out the latest Community Celebrities post on Slippery Raptor’s Blog, where fellow PHB author Slip interviews the twin bros on all things Poptropica (plus some questions about their lives offline)! Read it here.

Also, hang on for the results of the 2016 PHB Readers’ Survey! We were hoping to have the results up by now, but due to delay, they will be coming later this week. 🙂

Stay popping, Poptropicans! 🐠🐠

Airing 30th for All: Escape From Pelican Rock!

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, I don’t actually have too much news to share with all of you. The little I have, though, is most certainly warranting of its own post.

First off, the Creators have announced, via the Creators’ Blog, that Escape from Pelican Rock Island will be out for everyone on Wednesday, December 30! You better get your digging spoons ready!

If you don’t want to wait, you can play Escape From Pelican Rock for free now on the mobile app!

Until next ti – Hold on a second… That’s not all!

On the Daily Pop, there seems to be a pattern – or should I say, air pattern – beginning to form. Could these sneak peeks hint towards an upcoming Poptropica Island encompassing the idea of aviation?

Seems probable. The picture titled “Deplane” even suggests that this aviation theme is related to the jungle theme we’ve been seeing. We might need a bit more to go on, though. In the meantime, you can catch up on even more sneak peeks over at our Daily Pop Archive.

Whatever we’ll get from the Creators soon, though, we here on the Poptropica Help Blog will be ready to bring the news to you!

Until next time…

A Menu for MPIP Stories & More!

Hey Poptropicans!

Over the past week or so, the authors here on the Poptropica Help Blog have been posting their Poptropica stories – how they came to Poptropica, its community, and the roles they’ve played in it. It’s called My Place in Poptropica (MPIP), and even the Creators have been enjoying them! 😀

Anyway, we’re extending this chance to tell your Poptropica story to you, dear Poptropicans of the community! If you would like to write your own “My Place in Poptropica”, contact us (staff@poptropicahelp.net) and we may publish your MPIP story here on the PHB! From how you found Poptropica to how it plays a part in your life, we want to hear your stories!

Please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username.

If you missed any of the 9 stories the PHB authors have shared so far, here’s a list to link you up:

What else is new? Well, the menu on classic non-SUI islands (those not colored on the map) has gotten a revamp to be similar to those on SUIs (sound-updated islands)!

It’s now a chest like the one on SUIs and opens up in the same way, but it’s on the left instead of right, and the options are still different from SUIs. Cool, but will take some getting used to. 😛

Also, there’s a new ad on Main Street of Escape From Pelican Rock! Watch the video for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, and you’ll get an Alvin Outfit.

Over on the Daily Pop: could these sneak peeks be hinting at a personal home feature where we can show off all the island medallions we’ve earned and kick up our feet in cozy fireplace spaces? Hmm…

Catch up on sneak peeks from months and years past with our Daily Pop archive!

Anyway, that’s all for this post! We’ve had lots of posts recently, from news to MPIP stories to this year’s PHB Christmas Special, so be sure to catch up below and share your My Place in Poptropica with us!

Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😀
